      The character of Hank Murphy, the Angels' owner, is loosely based on owner, actor and country music star Gene Autry, right down to the cowboy hat. Autry passed away October 1998. When the Anaheim Angels won the 2002 World Series, they dedicated their win to Autry.
    • Goofs
      Though released in 1994, the film is based on the 1993 season as the Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers are still wearing their respective uniforms of that season. Also the Oakland A's are wearing their all Green Cap with a white "A's" on the cap. In 1994 the A's away cap was change to an all green crap with a gold "A's" logo on the cap.

    Angels in the Outfield review

    A middling family movie from Disney based on a 1951 original. Danny Glover is the gruff manager of a failing baseball team whose fortunes take a miraculous about-turn after a young fan prays for spiritual intervention in the mistaken belief that their winning the pennant will reunite him with his deadbeat father. It's both predictable and forgettable, but worth watching for an unusually star-studded cast.
