If you liked Dark Star youll love this

Excellent b movie, Ed Wood would be proud.Wonderful camped up performances by Corban Bernson and Bill Murphy which was a treat as they are normally so intense and serious. They obviously had alot of fun doing this.If youre a fan of tack, kitch, cult and all that goes with it, then this is a must see.Have a laugh...I DID.

This movie was too bad to be serious - ridiculous

This movie was really the worst I've ever seen! The scenery was terrible, you noticed they just used two elements while creating it: plastics and paper. The storyline was just weird, not to mention the many logical mistakes they made... How can the two guys speak when there's a vacuum? Why does the good guy not kill the bad guy, but instead just make him unconscious and lay him directly next to his laser-phaser-hyper-blaster-cannon-gun? Why is the android smoking? Why is the android smoking a cigarette? Why is the android laughing? Why is the android playing around on his chair? Why does the bad guy immediately kill Gibson after he gave him the "code" instead of let him alive and say he'll verify it and when its wrong he'd kill his wife? Why is quantum-physics (artificial gravity!) more advanced than artificial intelligence (android needs this earclip instead of recognizing the faces)? Just one more question: Why would anyone spend money on such a BAD movie?

This is almost good enough to qualify as a B movie, but not.

If you are reading this, then it probably means you too have wasted $3.50 renting this awful movie. If you have not yet rented it, then save your money. This movie has no plot, horrible acting, pitiful effects, and is just plain stupid.

The score is what really kills it

This is arguably one of the worst films ever produced. Not that Roger Corman is known for great film...but this is bad even for him.

There's some fun to be had in watching Bernson hamming it up as the hijacker. And the very un-androidlike behavior of the one android is laughable...especially when compared with the others on the ship. And the science is so incredibly bad it's beyond imagining.

But where this movie truly becomes pathetic is when the score is taken into account. There's one scene where one of the characters is killed, and another is basiclally screaming and having a nervous breakdown while a jolly liltiing clarinet solo plays over the scene. In fact, the entire score seems to be made up of jolly lilting clarinet solos and drum solos.

If you like the great bad movies like Plan 9 From Outer Space and Battlefield Earth...Spacejacked is one you can't miss.

    I Own This Thing

That's not an easy thing to admit. I found SPACEJACKED on sale in the bargain-bin at a Hollywood video in Las Vegas. Once I saw Corman's name I just had to have it. I'm a sucker for Corman's B-movie productions. I also found and bought another Corman-produced movie at the same store, STAR QUEST 2. SPACEJACKED proved to be the better of the two. Knowing who made this and how little I paid for it, I was ready to take the film with quite a few grains of salt.

On a space-cruise-ship in the future (where else), rich people live it up and are served by androids. They have virtual-reality sex and behave badly. Then, the unexpected happens, the ship is sabotaged by one of the crew and the rich passengers are held hostage. Corbin Bernsen is our villain and Amanda Pays is our hero. Bernsen sits in the control room and makes threats over the com-screen while his android does his dirty work. Pays puts on a spacesuit and crawls around. The situation plays out from there as you'd imagine it would, if your imagination was limited to a budget lower than the price of your house. It's like a cheap DIE HARD in space. If you can accept that, then you can enjoy SPACEJACKED, on a certain level. The ending, however, is weak even for this kind of film.

The production design to the film is good (though obviously limited by the budget). They did a good job creating the wrecked spaceship. The script is tenth rate stuff. The director, composer, and cinematographer may have a future with Corman, but I doubt they'll graduate to real film anytime soon. The acting is not the selling point here, so just try to ignore it.

This isn't a movie you need to see. SPACEJACKED is low-key fun for the morbidly curious. For those looking for a good action movie, there's always the original DIE HARD and anything John Woo made in Hong Kong. If you want a cheapo sci-fi-action film that entertains rather than inspires pity, try my old favorite AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK. You don't really have to avoid SPACEJACKED, just don't expect anything, and whatever you do, don't be fooled by the packaging (lame as it is).
