Fremantle class patrol boats HMA Ships Launceston, Townsville, Warrnambool, Whyalla and Wollongong were used as the fictional HMAS Defiance in the second season.
The HMAS Wollongong was one of the Fremantle class boats used for the fictional HMAS Defiance in season 2, at the start of it's operational life in the Australian Navy.
The boat was decommissioned in 2006, and was as the HMAS Hammersly in the TV series Sea Patrol.
