Ethan Berger has made his feature directorial debut with the frat house thriller The Line, which is set to reach select theatres on October 18th, with an expanded release to follow on October 25th. With those dates swiftly approaching, a red band trailer for the film has made its way online and can be seen in the embed above.
Berger wrote the screenplay with Alex Russek, crafting the following story: The Line is a campus thriller that plunges into the dangerous world of college fraternities and blind adherence to tradition. Tom, a scholarship student desperate to break free from his working-class background, is charmed by the prestigious Kna fraternity’s promises of high social status and alumni connections that open doors. But upon beginning a romance with Annabelle, a classmate outside of his social circle, and the manipulative schemes of his fraternity president unfolding during the hazing of new members,...

It’s been a long day without you, my friend.
When Paul Walker passed away in 2013 due to a car accident, there was an outpouring of grief from fans of some of his most successful films (including entries in the popular Fast & Furious franchise) and those who simply lamented the passing of a young and talented actor in his prime.

Given how outlandish and enormous the "Fast & Furious" film series would eventually become, it's a little mind-boggling to remember that Rob Cohen's 2001 original, "The Fast and the Furious," was little more than a mid-budget "Point Break" knockoff. The story goes that star Paul Walker, having enjoyed working with Cohen on the 2000 college thriller "The Skulls" was asked what his dream action project would be. Walker said that he wanted to appear in an action movie mashup of "Days of Thunder" and "Donnie Brasco." That is: something with fast cars, but also a cop who goes undercover to infiltrate the criminal underground. The subsequent screenplay, written by Gary Scott Thompson, drew inspiration from a 1998 article in Vibe Magazine all about the New York underground racing scene. David Ayer was brought in to work on a draft, and he changed the setting to Los Angeles and made the cast more diverse.

Intro: One of the biggest action franchises of the last twenty-five years had humble beginnings. It started with a simple little movie about street racing, based on a magazine article, with a cast of young people who weren’t very well-known and action scenes that are relatively grounded. That movie has somehow spawned multiple sequels and a spin-off. Along the way, those further installments have gotten bigger, crazier, and more over-the-top, while earning over six billion dollars at the worldwide box office. The movie we’re talking about is the 2001 release The Fast and the Furious (watch it Here) – and it’s time for it to be Revisited.

Paul Walker enjoyed a lengthy career in Hollywood that carried him through various roles in several unique movies before his unfortunate death in 2013 at just 40 years old. Fans likely remember him best as Brian O'Conner in the "Fast and Furious" franchise, but the talented and handsome actor also appeared in critical hits such as "Pleasantville," "Joy Ride," and Clint Eastwood's "Flags of Our Fathers," and served as executive producer on the films "Vehicle 19," "Hours," and "Pawn Shop Chronicles." He even enjoyed a guest spot on National Geographic's "Expedition Great White" in 2009.
In his youth, Walker popped up in a variety of high-profile TV shows, among them "Highway to Heaven," "Charles in Charge," "Who's the Boss," and "Touched by an Angel," before making the leap to schlocky B-movie horror films such as "Tammy and the Rex," opposite Denise Richards, in which his character's brain somehow lands inside a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

"Prey" boasts the sort of inventive high-concept that movie franchises could use more of. In a nutshell, it's "Predator" but set in the Great Plains of the 1700s. The hero is not a musclebound mercenary like Arnold Schwarzenegger's Dutch, but a Comanche girl named Naru (Amber Midthunder) who aspires to be a hunter. Even when it hits familiar beats, the unique setting ensures that "Prey" remains its own beast.
The film is so far removed from the usual setting of a "Predator" movie that the first shot of a spaceship and cloaked alien feel surreal. If you didn't know that "Prey" was a "Predator" film ahead of time, it would be a jaw-dropping moment. However, the realities of modern movie marketing -- where the usual goal is to remind audiences of something they already know about -- ensure that no one had this experience.

I'm a big fan of director Dan Trachtenberg. His feature film debut, "10 Cloverfield Lane," was among my favorite movies of 2016, so I've kept an eye out any time he's been linked to a project and have been hotly anticipating his next movie. I was intrigued when word came out that he would direct a mysterious movie called "Skulls," and then became a little heartbroken to learn that a surprise had been ruined in a trade report: "Skulls" was originally meant to be a secret "Predator" movie, in which none of the marketing would have given away that an alien was involved...

Talk about reviving a franchise from the grave! Twenty-six years (26!) after Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1996 action film Eraser comes a franchise reboot featuring none of the original cast and with two veterans of franchise reboots and Dtv sequels at the helm, director John Pogue and writer Michael D. Weiss. Yet whilst both filmmakers have experience in reboots and sequels they also have some other fantastic movies under their belts – Pogue wrote all Three of The Skulls movies (the second being a personal favourite) and Weiss penned some classic Dtv movies that went on to be staples of the early days of budget DVDs – Octopus and it’s sequel, Crocodile and US Seals 2… Yes, Eraser: Reborn has quite the pedigree.

“F9,” the ninth entry in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, is set up as the latest film tagged as the savior of theaters. It comes on top of “A Quiet Place Part II,” another sequel, which has already done yeoman’s work in showing that a conventional release can find significant success.

Having been recruited from another highly strategic and mentally tough reality show, one would think that the Big Brother players who have infiltrated The Challenge would be slightly less sloppy. And disappointing.

But on Wednesday’s episode, two members from Team Bb shake the house to its core, one by burning bridges and backstabbing his alliance, and the other by exhibiting an absolutely wretched social game. Raven Capital management, the U.S. private equity firm that last year acquired distributor Open Road, is to finance a slate of TV projects from South East Asia’s Coconuts.
The arrangement will kick-off with pilots for seven unscripted TV shows. Raven and Coconuts TV will partner on global licensing and distribution deals for the series.
Coconuts TV is part of the Thailand and Singapore-based Coconuts digital publishing group, headed by Byron Perry. With smart tabloid taste, the group likes to focus on “weird and wondrous” untold stories from Asia.
The company’s credits include marijuana docu-series “Highland,” sold to Netflix in 2017; the hard-hitting short-docu variety show “Coconuts TV on Iflix,” commissioned by regional streamer Iflix in 2018; and adventure travel documentary “Nagaland: Twilight of the Headhunters,” sold to Discovery Asia in 2019.

The first trailer for Deep Blue Sea 3 ticks a lot of boxes. Its characters yell “shark!” and “get out of the water!” a team of marine professionals are clearly in over their heads; there’s an obligatory jump scare towards the end, and the big fish occasionally go ‘nom’. That’s all we need, so we’re officially on board for this next underwater adventure.
We acknowledge, though, that we may have lost you at ‘Deep Blue Sea 3‘. Indeed, the second film in the franchise arrived direct-to-video back in April 2018 as a ‘standalone sequel’ to Renny Harlin’s late-90s sci-fi horror, and really we can only assume that Darin Scott’s effort at a follow up did well enough on home release for Warner Bros to okay a third. Wide-eyed Midwest transplant Stan (Chace Crawford) agrees to play wingman to his calculating and privileged roommate Chad (Kevin Zegers) as they embark upon an exploration of glittering New York nightlife, whose darkest secrets are held captive by an elite band of millennials known as Nighthawks
What I am gathering from this is that is an updated version of the movie The Skulls (2000). That was a crap movie, no one really cares about these played out revenge on rich kids plots. Who knows, maybe this show will turn it all around and make everyone happy.

Raven Capital Management said it has completed its $87.5 million purchase of Open Road Films assets, including rights to 45 titles such as the Oscar-winning Spotlight, Chef and End of Watch.
The finalizing of the agreement first disclosed in November adds another notable film library to Raven’s collection of assets. In 2015, it teamed with Ambi Media Group to buy the catalog of Exclusive Media Group. That agreement included rights (including certain sequel and remake rights) to a diverse group of 400-plus titles, including Begin Again, Cruel Intentions, Donnie Darko, Memento, Rush, The Skulls and Sliding Doors.
“We are excited to add Open Road to our portfolio of media and entertainment investments,” said James Masciello, Principal and Portfolio Manager of Raven. “We pride ourselves on our industry focus and have already seen great successes with our 2015 acquisition of the Exclusive Media film library as well as our financing of select independent films.
The finalizing of the agreement first disclosed in November adds another notable film library to Raven’s collection of assets. In 2015, it teamed with Ambi Media Group to buy the catalog of Exclusive Media Group. Last year, Sam Rockwell delivered an emotional and moving speech while accepting his best supporting actor Golden Globe award for his role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - he's nominated this year again for best supporting actor for his role in Vice - but before he took the stage, he got a sweet smooch from his date and long-term girlfriend, Leslie Bibb, that left him covered in lipstick.
But exactly who is Leslie Bibb? She's an accomplished actor in her own right and has been performing for decades!
Born in Bismarck, Nd, and raised in Nelson County, Va, the 43-year-old model-turned-actress got her start in 1990 when, at just 16, she won a nationwide model search on The Oprah Winfrey Show. After scoring small parts in films like The Skulls and shows like Home Improvement and Just Shoot Me!, Bibb landed a starring role as preppy Brooke McQueen on the short-lived WB show Popular,...

Maybe it’s because this week’s home entertainment releases happen to be falling on the same time as Tax Day, but Tuesday’s Blu-ray and DVD debuts are what my grandfather would refer to as “slim pickins.” In terms of new titles, we’re finally getting the long-awaited sequel to Deep Blue Sea as well as the latest season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 on both formats. Cult film fans will want to nab the new Blu-ray for Day of the Reaper, as it’s a very limited edition release, and for those of you looking to fill in a gap in your personal collections, The Skulls arrives in HD on April 17th, too.
Day of the Reaper
Five women on vacation are stalked by a hooded cannibal killer in the town of Sunnyville Florida. Silly antics and H.G. Lewis-style gore follow the survivors in this camp super-8 epic.

Hazing rituals, with their elitist foundations and untold mysteries, have long captured the imaginations of storytellers both comedic and dramatic. Most recently explored in the Nick Jonas vehicle “Goat,” but the topic is basically a subgenre at this point — from Todd Phillips’ documentary “Frat House” to the soapy thriller “The Skulls,” for comedic effect in the Zac Efron vehicle “Neighbors,” and, perhaps most famously, in Richard Linklater’s “Dazed and Confused.”
“Burning Sands,” Gerard McMurray’s entry in the hazing canon, is set at a fictional Historically Black College (Hbcu) called Frederick Douglass University. McMurray, an associate producer on Ryan Coogler’s “Fruitvale Station,” draws from personal experience to make his directorial debut. (McMurray co-wrote the script with Christine Berg). From the film’s overtly dark tone, it is safe to assume McMurray is critical of the most brutal hazing rituals, even if he glorifies them with his camera. The...

“Ride or die.” Those words only appear a few times in the franchise – most famously out of Vin Diesel’s gravelly baritone in Fast & Furious 6 – but they have become the personal motto for how this franchise has continued, grown, succeeded and become greater with each film. Today, Furious 7, the latest in the series will be released, and it’s a mark of achievement not only that they’ve made it to seven films, but that it only feels exciting for a seventh film about criminals racing cars to be released. The Fast and the Furious franchise is unlike any franchise out there right now, as it has evolved from perfectly adequate popcorn films about criminals racing cars to superb and exhilarating blockbuster action films. No other franchise can say that they only began to hit their creative stride with the fifth film. To understand how we arrived at this point though,...

"If it's secret and elite, it can't be good." Hill Harper's character Will Beckford had some good instincts about the his fate in the 2000 cult classic, "The Skulls." It's hard to believe it's been 15 years since the release of the psychological thriller -- starring Harper, Joshua Jackson, Paul Walker and Leslie Bibb -- which was based on conspiracy theories surrounding Yale University's Skull and Bones student society. toofab's Rachel Hoffman caught up with Hill to talk about the film's milestone anniversary, where he opened up about making the movie, working with the late Paul Walker and who he still stays in touch with from the cast. Check out the full interview with the actor below, and click "Launch Gallery" above to see what he and the rest of his costars have been up to since the movie's release. Those of us who lead hapless lives know how frightening getting up in the morning can be. Instead of rising and embracing the daylight with an ardent cuddle and a zealous "Yahoo!" we see grey clouds overhead and wonder aloud, "What now?" Another egg carton with broken shells? A second bedbug infestation within twelve months? Still no replies to our Christian Mingles ad even though we've noted we can recite the Book of Revelation by heart in Latin?
Ah, if only we were born into a family of elites. The ultra-rich. Aristocrats with an enviable gene pool.
But instead we're impoverished and pear-shaped with squinty eyes and in need of Proactiv+.
On top of these misfortunes, we really know the gods are against us if while fingering the remote, we accidentally come across Joshua Jackson in The Skulls (2000), and begin to watch it out of inertia. This incapacitating thriller was inspired by Yale's secretive society,...

We’re one week away from the release of Furious 7, the latest installment in the blockbuster franchise, and Paul Walker‘s final film. Walker has been an integral part of the series since its inception in 2001 and his co-stars have been sharing memories of him during the film’s press tour. But before Furious became a surprise success, he was the king of teen flicks (starring in She’s All That, Varsity Blues, The Skulls) and a foil to Freddie Prinze, Jr.
Check out this #Fbf clip from 1999′s She’s All That — a must-see for any millennial and a reminder that Lil’ Kim and Usher both have acting credits — when Zack (Prinze, Jr.) finds out his Bff Dean (Walker) ruined his plans to take former nerd Laney Boggs (Rachael Leigh Cook) to prom, and let her in on the little secret that they were betting on whether or...

The Queen ought to give out medals for movies like The Riot Club, which does humanity the great service of gathering virtually every hot, young British actor of the moment on screen at once. Then again, I can't imagine the Queen sitting all the way through this film — based on Laura Wade's play "Posh," and directed by Lone Scherfig (An Education) — which may at first look like a romp about an elite Oxford undergraduate dining society but is at its core an effective skewering of upper class privilege.Gird your loins, ladies and gents of a certain persuasion, because what we have here is a similar but far better movie than that Joshua Jackson's Skull and Bones thriller, The Skulls populated with the buff, British 2014 version of the casts of Dead Poets Society or Young Guns 2. The Riot Club, we're told in flashback, was founded to honor...

We're creeping up on the end of the year, which means the movies that will hit theaters in the dumping ground months of January, February and March will start getting pushed soon. We've already seen a trailer for early 2015 horror with Amityville: The Awakening, and now a thriller arriving a bit later in January has received its first trailer. Jennifer Lopez stars in The Boy Next Door, a thriller from xXx and The Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen. Honestly, you could probably guess the entire plot of the film based on that information alone, but alas, here's the trailer to lay things out for you. And it looks pretty lame. Here's the first trailer for Rob Cohen's The Boy Next Door from Universal Pictures: The Boy Next Door is directed by Rob Cohen (xXx, Stealth, The Fast and the Furious, Daylight, The Skulls) and written by Barbara Curry,...

The messed-up machinations of bored, oversexed stepsiblings Kathryn Merteuil and Sebastian Valmont aren’t quite as shocking in 2014 as they were when Cruel Intentions was released on March 5, 1999. (Blame Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and a zillion other glitzy/scandalous imitators.)
That said, Cruel Intentions is still an enormously entertaining teen movie, even 15 years (gulp) after its initial release — thanks to an uncommonly sharp script, a killer soundtrack, and, most importantly, an impeccable cast, which featured future Oscar winners and future Sharknado stars alike. Well, one of each, but you get the picture. Whoever headed up this franchise had a...

The British more or less invented images of gothic horror, haunted buildings and creepy possessed children. Add in some American-style found footage and a retro setting, and you've got the revamped Hammer Films' second feature, The Quiet Ones. Directed by John Pogue (screenwriter of Us Marshalls and The Skulls and director of Quarantine 2) and starring Jared Harris, Sam Clafin and Olivia Cooke, the new trailer shows many of the usual horror film tropes: a young girl with connections to the supernatural, the father figure who initiates investigation, a group of skeptics and some pretty effective editing that should made you jump a few times. The film is set for release on April 11th in the UK and April 24th in the Us.Inspired by true...

The Fast & Furious series is one of the less likely franchises in modern Hollywood history. It needed Paul Walker. He was the linchpin, back at the beginning. The first film was conceived as a Walker star vehicle. This was back when he was the guy from Varsity Blues and She’s All That and The Skulls. The latter film, mostly forgotten nowadays, was directed by Rob Cohen — and it was Cohen who thought of Walker for a film that was originally titled Red Line, based partially on a Vibe article and at least a little bit on Point Break. It...

Handsome American actor best known for his role as Brian O'Conner in the Fast and Furious blockbuster movie franchise
Paul Walker, who has died aged 40 in a car accident, combined unthreatening star charisma with preppy good looks and a canny commercial sensibility. Though he had shown promise in his early film roles, he could easily have become just another piece of well-dressed eye candy had it not been for his involvement in the colossally successful Fast and Furious franchise, which has grossed $2.38bn worldwide to date.
In 2001, the first film in the series, The Fast and the Furious, put a four-wheeled spin on the surfing-bank-robbers thriller Point Break. Walker took the Keanu Reeves role of the upstart undercover cop who infiltrates a criminal gang – in this case, a group of daredevil street-racers moonlighting as truck hijackers – before discovering a kinship with the renegades he is supposed to be apprehending.

Paul Walker was a refreshing enigma in Hollywood. Though he starred in one of the most successful movie franchises of all time, he never seemed to revel in fame. He wouldn’t go out of his way to drum up press. Walker, the man, remained somewhat of a mystery throughout his career.
Perhaps that’s why people wrote him off as a dumb lug. With messy blond hair, a surfer’s accent, and chiseled features, Walker was easy to stereotype as a lucky, pretty face that didn’t have much going on upstairs.
But I never understood that characterization of the star.
