The premise of Jay Roach's 2000 hit comedy "Meet the Parents" (a remake of the 1992 indie film) is pure sitcom fodder. The movie follows the travails of Gaylord "Greg" Focker (Ben Stiller) as he is taken home to meet the family of his girlfriend, Pam (Teri Polo). Pam's parents, however, are rather intense. Her father is Jack (Robert De Niro), a former CIA spy who greets Greg with suspicion right away. Jack also seems to be sizing up Greg's masculinity, immediately put off by his name. It's not long before Jack has Greg hooked up to a lie detector, analyzing his intentions with Pam.
"Meet the Parents" was an enormous success, making over $330 million on a $55 million budget. Naturally, a sequel was required. Roach returned to direct "Meet the Fockers" in 2004, and it flipped the script on Jack. This time, Pam and Greg were about to be married, and Jack...

Mayan Lopez, who stars with her dad George Lopez on the NBC sitcom Lopez vs Lopez (which the Lopez duo also created with showrunner Debby Wolfe), has signed on to join the cast of the supernatural coming-of-age thriller The Evilry, Deadline reports. Lopez will also be an executive producer on the film, which sees her taking on the role of Aimee, a character who runs a spiritual bookstore.

Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller are returning for Meet The Parents 4, continuing a franchise which has been tolerated since the start of the millennium.
Though Robert De Niro is quite rightly acclaimed as one of the greatest actors of all time, his forays into comedies have been mixed, to say the least. Analyze This and Analyze That did a good job of parodying his tough guy screen persona, and Midnight Run is one of the all time great buddy comedies. But in recent years, you really do have to wonder why he put his name to films like The Adventures Of Rocky And Bullwinkle and gross out comedy Dirty Grandpa. Cash, presumably.
His most successful foray into comedy – commercially if not critically – is easily the Meet The Parents franchise, which was a remake based on a 1992 independent film of the same name written by Greg Glienna (who directed) and Mary Ruth Clarke.

John Waters somehow can’t find funding for a new movie starring Aubrey Plaza, but Hollywood is apparently more than happy to throw millions of dollars at a fourth entry in the Meet the Parents franchise. At least we’ll finally have answers to all of those lingering mysteries from Little Fockers.
Yes, Deadline is reporting that original stars Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Teri Polo and Blythe Danner are all in talks to appear in the movie, which is currently in development at Universal Pictures.
But we would like to offer a counterpoint: don’t. Don’t make any more of these movies.
The first Meet the Parents worked because it had a very simple, extremely relatable premise: a character meets their romantic partner’s parents and feels both intimidated and embarrassed. Most adults have experienced some version of this scenario. And Meet the Parents took that shared experience to comedic extremes,...

As a wise Focker once said, "You can milk anything with nipples." But in the case of the Meet The Parents franchise, turns out you actually just need Ben Stiller playing a man called Gaylord Focker and Robert De Niro playing his ever-alert, ex-CIA Father-In-Law Jack Byrnes. And having already encompassed a whole trilogy — Meet The Parents, Meet The Fockers, and Meet The Parents: Little Fockers — to date, it looks like the time has come to enter Focker-Byrnes' circle of trust once again. Per Deadline's reporting, a fourth film in the franchise is in the works at Universal Pictures, with Stiller and De Niro in early talks to return for more farcical family shenanigans.
Plot details on the fourquel remain hush-hush, at least for now, but as well as De Niro and Stiller circling comebacks for this one, we do know that longtime franchise co-writer John Hamburg is on script duties,...

The hardest part of making Meet the Parents was meeting the Motion Picture Association of America.
In 2000, Universal Pictures released a relatable relationship comedy that would quickly become a veritable film franchise, a Ben Stiller-starred hit called Meet the Parents. The Jay Roach-directed story about a male nurse with an unusual name who spends a grueling weekend with his girlfriend’s family and her domineering, ex-CIA father struck a chord with everyone who has ever had to make up a lie about life on the farm just to get out of an uncomfortable misunderstanding, and Meet the Parents proved to be more than milkable for multiple less-delightful sequel projects.
A critical component to the success of Meet the Parents was the ever-important MPAA classification, as the difference in box office returns between PG-13 and R-rated movies will end franchise aspirations faster than you can say “Puff the Magic Dragon.

The nepo baby discourse as it pertains to the arts is typically a grievance-driven undertaking that allows low- to no-talent individuals the opportunity to blame someone other than themselves for their lack of success. Though there have been instances of celebrity-adjacent people receiving seemingly undeserved gigs, these are usually one-and-not-too-many-more-done deals undone by the recipient's profound absence of skill.

If you think "there's nothing to watch on Netflix," then you're just plain incorrect. Over the past year, the streaming service has been delivering not only dozens upon dozens of excellent original series, but Netflix has also been hand-picking a vast variety of small-screen favorites from past and present for our viewing pleasure. And the binge-watching Gods continue to give the goods.
The latest acquired series to make its drop on Netflix is the Emmy Award-nominated crime drama limited series Escape at Dannemora, which made its premiere on Showtime back in November 2018. The series was co-created by Brett Johnson and Michael Tolkin, and all eight episodes were directed by Ben Stiller.

Searchlight Pictures’ top international exec Katie Goodson-Thomas has acknowledged the constant battle the specialty studio has against the deep-pockets of streamers when it comes to securing projects.
Speaking at an industry talk at the BFI London Film Festival, Goodson-Thomas, head of international production and development, said that Searchlight being “priced out” by streamers was something “that happens on a daily basis, it really does.”
She added: “But we just can’t be competitive with Netflix of Apple or Amazon.”
Goodson-Thomas pointed to Emerald Fennell — someone she said she’d “love to work with” — and her upcoming “Wuthering Heights” adaptation, a film Searchlight simply wouldn’t have the finances to support. “But I think she’s an extraordinary filmmaker and I want her film to be made so I’m happy for her to go to those people who have the money to finance it,” she said.

For the past three decades, DreamWorks has been seen as the studio that challenged Disney and, in some cases, won. If you are still in business after so many years and are still making movies, then you are clearly doing something right. Originally founded on October 12th, 1994, by three innovators with different motivations, the studio has gone on to make some of the biggest franchises in film history.
Who founded Dreamworks?
Originally conceived by former Disney executive Jeffery Katzenberg, he sought the aid of fellow entertainment executives Steven Spielberg and David Geffen. The three would found DreamWorks Skg with the purpose of becoming a major force in the entertainment industry. The studio’s first release was The Peacemaker in 1997 with other films like Amistad and Mouse Trap releasing that same year.

The two-time Academy Awards winner and Hollywood A-lister, Robert De Niro has had quite an impactful journey. The actor gained fame with hit movies like The Godfather: Part II, Goodfellas, Meet the Parents, and many more.
However, unlike other celebrities De Niro was very vocal about one sensitive topic, politics. The legendary actor-producer has often spoken about his political views, particularly his disdain for one leader. The feud between the Casino lead and Donald Trump is long-standing. This election season the actor has been campaigning boldly for the opposition, referencing a past incident which was a blemish on the former president’s rep.
The bold pursuit for Political Freedom: No. 1 critic
Along with being one of the finest actors of his generation, Robert De Niro is also perhaps one of the biggest critics of the Republican candidate. The Goodfellas actor has been very public about his views on Donald Trump and his election campaign.

Chicago – Before it became a Hollywood franchise, the original “Meet the Parents” was a locally-filmed 1992 indie film co-written, directed and featuring Greg Glienna of Park Ridge, Illinois. Amazon MGM Studios has entered into a multi-year film partnership with Scott Stuber, the former head of film at Netflix. As part of the pact, the streamer and studio will finance and release movies from Stuber’s new production company under United Artists, a languishing label that once operated under the auspice of MGM. In its heyday, United Artists released movies like “The Pink Panther,” “Rocky” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “Network” and the James Bond films. The agreement calls for Stuber and his soon-to-be launched company to produce several films annually. They will be released both theatrically and via Prime Video, Amazon’s streaming service.
Stuber’s new company will be based on Amazon MGM Studios’ Culver City lot. The pact is a first-look one, giving Amazon MGM Studios the initial crack at the projects Stuber develops. In addition, Stuber will be involved in all projects released by the new UA.

Determining Ben Stiller's best role is no easy task, as the prolific performer has more than a few borderline iconic characters to his name. Tony Perkis in "Heavyweights," Mr. Furious in "Mystery Men," White Goodman in "Dodgeball," Chas Tenenbaum in "The Royal Tenenbaums," Tugg Speedman in "Tropic Thunder," the titular Derek "Zoolander," and Ted Stroehmann in "There's Something About Mary" are all characters that feel synonymous with Stiller, and roles that no one else but him could pull off. And then there's Greg Focker in "Meet the Parents," a role Stiller has played in three different films, the lovable everyman who can't seem to impress his overbearing father-in-law Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro). For as much as Stiller has made a name for himself with distinctive characters like Hal the Orderly Guy in "Happy Gilmore," his genuine charm allowed him to flourish in relatable roles, with Greg arguably the best example of this.
