CBS announced the final cast for its upcoming daytime drama series “Beyond the Gates” on Tuesday.

Leading the final casting announcement is veteran actor Clifton Davis who joins the series as Vernon Dupree, the Dupree family patriarch married to Anita (Tamara Tunie) and father to Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) and Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley), respectively.

Joining Davis are actors Alex Alegria, Lauren Bugliogli, Ben Gavin, Jibre Hordges, Jen Jacob and Mike Manning.

Turns out, the "Mare of Easttown" parody that's already become synonymous with Marvel's new show "Agatha All Along" was originally intended for its parent series, "WandaVision." As showrunner Jac Schaeffer explained to The Wrap, the whole thing actually originated as a "CSI" homage episode of "WandaVision" that ended up falling by the wayside after the show's writers honed in on the sitcom format. As a result, she kept the idea tucked away and ended up using it for the "Agatha" series premiere instead.

"It was always the design that ['Agatha'] would start with this true crime episode," Schaeffer told the outlet while discussing the first two episodes of the "WandaVision" spinoff. "That was an idea that I had when I pitched 'WandaVision,'" she continued. "It was going to be the eighth episode of 'WandaVision,' that was going to be like a 'CSI' episode,...

“Deadloch” S2 is created and written by Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan who also serve as executive producers alongside Kevin Whyte and Tanya Phegan from Guesswork Television. Andy Walker is the producer.

Last year, it was announced that Blumhouse Television had acquired the adaptation rights to The Quiet Tenant, the debut novel from author Clémence Michallon (you can pick up a copy Here), with the intention of turning it into either a limited series or a streaming feature. Now Deadline has an update on the project, which is moving forward as a limited series: CSI creator Anthony E. Zuiker has come on board to serve as writer and showrunner, and Secret Menu will be producing the show alongside Blumhouse. Secret Menu is a media company that was launched last December by Charlize Theron, producer Dawn Olmstead, and Theron’s Denver & Delilah partners Beth Kono and Aj Dix.

Theron, Olmstead, Kono, and Dix are executive producers on The Quiet Tenant with Blumhouse Television’s Jason Blum and Chris Dickie, plus Zuiker and Michallon.

Quentin Tarantino has been fortunate enough to film a few episodes of some of his favorite television programs. But doing so seems to quickly ruin his enjoyment of the same shows he used to watch.

Tarantino has decided to lend his expertise in filmmaking to a couple of shows. He filled in as a guest director for the television series CSI in the 2000s. He helmed the two-parter season 5 finale “Grave Danger,” which he also ended up writing as well. He also faced little difficulty adapting to the limitations of network television than some might think, especially thanks to his admiration of the show.

“It wasn’t a challenge in that regard because … I like the show,” Tarantino once told Today. “I just wanted to do my episode of it. So the format was all the stuff I embrace.

Elsbeth stands out because it is one of the only lighthearted mysteries on television, but it never used to be that way.

These types of mysteries were extremely popular in the 1980s and 1990s. Murder She Wrote, Diagnosis: Murder, and Matlock were all top-rated shows, and that trend continued into the early 2000s when Monk and Psych captivated viewers.

Modern television is more likely to feature realistic, gritty police procedurals than lighthearted mysteries, but Elsbeth’s success suggests the tide could be turning back again.

Media company Content Partners has launched new business division Content Partners Capital, a sector focused on providing private capital solutions for businesses and IP assets in the entertainment industry.

Banking exec Alphonse Lordo has joined Content Partners as a head of the new division overseeing the origination and portfolio management of private credit opportunities. Cpc will be targeting IP-heavy business models across film, TV, and music and will invest under various credit structures to accommodate a company’s capital needs. The division has already provided debt financing to Media Capital Technologies to support its film slate transaction with Lionsgate.

It’s hard to imagine a time when Ted Danson wasn’t on TV. John Aprea, whose acting career landed him roles on “Godfather Part II” and “Full House,” died on Aug. 5 of natural causes in Los Angeles. He was 83.

His death was confirmed by Will Levine, Aprea’s manager.

Born in 1941 to Italian immigrants in Englewood, N.J., Aprea spent part of his early years in Italy before his family resettled back in the States. In the early 1960s, he set out to pursue his passion, acting, enrolling in Joshua Shelley’s acting classes (who also taught Mia Farrow and Jon Voight) in New York. Eventually, he would land a role in the 1968 Steve McQueen classic film Bullitt, playing Killer.

After his splashy debut, Aprea found acting work on sets for the 1970s TV series “Mannix,” the 1970s film “The Grasshopper,” and Jonathan Demme’s 1974 feature, “Caged Heat.”

Aprea’s manager confirmed the news to TMZ on Sunday, saying he passed away on Aug. 7 at his Los Angeles home. A cause of death was not disclosed.

Hollywood actor Gabriel Olds, who has appeared in dozens of supporting television and film roles over the past several decades, was arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning and charged with seven counts of sexual assault, according to local authorities, who said they are seeking out other possible victims or witnesses in a series of alleged attacks that date back to over a decade ago.

Olds, 52, was taken into custody in the Crestwood Hills area of Los Angeles after the L.A. Superior Court issued a warrant for his arrest for $3.5 million in July. The district attorney had charged him with seven counts of sexual assault after a 41-year-old woman reported that he’d raped her in her L.A. home; following the woman’s report, two other women came forward to police saying Olds had raped them in incidents dating back to 2013, according to a press release from the LAPD.
