Quentin Tarantino has been fortunate enough to film a few episodes of some of his favorite television programs. But doing so seems to quickly ruin his enjoyment of the same shows he used to watch.

Tarantino has decided to lend his expertise in filmmaking to a couple of shows. He filled in as a guest director for the television series CSI in the 2000s. He helmed the two-parter season 5 finale “Grave Danger,” which he also ended up writing as well. He also faced little difficulty adapting to the limitations of network television than some might think, especially thanks to his admiration of the show.
“It wasn’t a challenge in that regard because … I like the show,” Tarantino once told Today. “I just wanted to do my episode of it. So the format was all the stuff I embrace.

Elsbeth stands out because it is one of the only lighthearted mysteries on television, but it never used to be that way.
These types of mysteries were extremely popular in the 1980s and 1990s. Murder She Wrote, Diagnosis: Murder, and Matlock were all top-rated shows, and that trend continued into the early 2000s when Monk and Psych captivated viewers.
Modern television is more likely to feature realistic, gritty police procedurals than lighthearted mysteries, but Elsbeth’s success suggests the tide could be turning back again.

It’s hard to imagine a time when Ted Danson wasn’t on TV. After all, he spent a whopping 11 seasons playing Sam Malone on Cheers, six years as Dr. John Becker on Becker, and, more recently, took on the part of a 6,000-foot tall tentacled fire demon who's taken on the form of a 6-foot-2 silver fox in The Good Place.
Not to mention the fact that he regularly popped up on Curb Your Enthusiasm, effortlessly inhabiting what was perhaps his greatest role to date: Ted Danson.
Now Danson has a brand new show coming out: A Man on the Inside. While it may sound like the title of a self-help book written by Tobias Fünke, it’s actually a new Netflix comedy that reteams Danson with The Good Place and Parks and Recreation producer Mike Schur.

“I keep slipping into Valerie Cherish, don’t I?” Meredith Hagner has done plenty of press in her career, particularly for her breakout role in Search Party and the Vacation Friends franchise, but this is the first time she’s sat down for a meal and really rehashed her full biography with a recorder running. She’s concerned she’s trafficking in the same acting cliches as Lisa Kudrow’s famously deluded character in The Comeback.
But the cliches along the 37-year-old’s career path sound novel. They’re almost from another time. She moved to New York from North Carolina after graduating high school on the promise of an unpaid job in a Fringe Fest play. She slept on a hand-me-down hospice bed (with rollers!) that her grandmother had just died in. And, to pay rent on the railroad apartment she shared with a server at cringe tourist trap Jekyll & Hyde Club,...

On August 17, 2024, NBC’s “Dateline” presents the gripping episode titled “Point Blank,” airing at 9/8c. Keith Morrison will delve into the murder of Todd Chance, a case that took years to unravel despite a trail of crucial surveillance footage. The episode explores the chilling reality that Todd’s wife, Leslie Jenea Chance, may have meticulously planned his murder.
In the summer of 2013, Todd and Leslie Chance, along with their children, embarked on a trip to Las Vegas. Their vacation included a visit to a CSI-themed crime exhibit, a seemingly innocent outing that would later take on a sinister significance. Todd, a beloved father and husband, was discovered dead on August 25, 2013, in an almond grove near Bakersfield, California. His murder involved multiple gunshots, and his missing car was initially suspected to be a case of carjacking. However, the vehicle was soon found abandoned with the keys and his gun inside,...

Hollywood actor Gabriel Olds, who has appeared in dozens of supporting television and film roles over the past several decades, was arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning and charged with seven counts of sexual assault, according to local authorities, who said they are seeking out other possible victims or witnesses in a series of alleged attacks that date back to over a decade ago.
Olds, 52, was taken into custody in the Crestwood Hills area of Los Angeles after the L.A. Superior Court issued a warrant for his arrest for $3.5 million in July. The district attorney had charged him with seven counts of sexual assault after a 41-year-old woman reported that he’d raped her in her L.A. home; following the woman’s report, two other women came forward to police saying Olds had raped them in incidents dating back to 2013, according to a press release from the LAPD.

There’s just something extra compelling about a fictional serial killer with a signature. It adds a level of pathos to any whodunnit, making the mystery that much more intriguing. Think Buffalo Bill placing moths in the bodies of victims in Silence of the Lambs or Bob sliding paper letters under victims’ fingernails in Twin Peaks. Not only do we need to figure out who has done this to these people and where they are, but what does this signature say about their mental state and motivation? Is this a game to them?
These kinds of stories just offer so much. A serial killer’s shtick offers an instant avenue for potential creativity, not only in the signature itself but also for the psychology and motivation of the person behind it. It takes way more work to craft an intricate miniature of a murder to leave at your crime scene...

In the modern age of streaming and prestige TV, less is often considered more. A season of TV will be six, eight, or if you’re really lucky, 10 episodes long. It has been a bone of contention. During the recent writers’ strike, shorter seasons of streaming shows was one of the fields of conflict.
On the other hand, in a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Star Trek’s current head honcho Alex Kurtzman argued, “it’s funny you can talk to old writers of old Trek series, and they’re like, ‘Man, there’s a bunch of filler episodes in there. NBC has picked up its two outstanding pilots to series, the hourlong Suits: L.A., starring Stephen Amell, and Grosse Pointe Garden Society. However, it has not been determined yet whether any of them will premiere during the 2024-25 seasons.
NBC already has two new drama and two new comedy series set for next season, dramas Brilliant Minds and The Hunting Party which, like Grosse Pointe Garden Society, originated as a writers room commission in February 2023, as well as comedies St. Denis Medical and the Reba McEntire-led Happy’s Place.
Along with the pickups, NBC has released first-look images for Suits: L.A. and Grosse Pointe Garden Society. You can see them below.
As Deadline reported last month, both pilots had come in solid and looking good for an order.
With a globally recognizable title thanks to Suits‘ recent Netflix success, offshoot Suits: L.A. had been considered a strong proposition from the moment it was announced.

At the turn of the century, CBS created one of the most successful procedurals in history, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which revolutionized television by bringing "scientific" mystery solving to an unprecedented level of clarity and conviction.
Having secured the lead in the genre, the network launched an indirect competitor to CSI in 2005: the crime series Criminal Minds, which emphasizes psychology rather than evidence. The showrunner for this project was Jeff Davis. He created a classic show whose characters are law enforcement officers who, time and again, prove stronger than the odds.
The undisputed advantage of Criminal Minds has always been its cast. And while fans are constantly expressing their sympathy for characters like David Rossi, Dr. Reid, or Emily Prentiss, one of the Bau team members who was once an integral part of the show is often forgotten.

House was originally conceived as a medical clone of CSI – a show primarily about rare diseases and unusual methods of detecting them. But as the series progressed, House changed, becoming an excellent psychological drama about a man who can cure almost anyone, but who cannot protect himself from physical and psychological pain, and from the desire to hurt others.
After eight successful seasons on the small screen, House ended in 2012. And now the medical drama is one of those rare cult projects that has not received a prequel, spin-off or reimagining in recent years. But one of the stars of House admitted that it is possible.
House Revival is Still a Possibility
Lisa Edelstein, who played Dr. Lisa Cuddy on the series, has spoken out about the show's revival:

Just like every major procedural on TV that has been running long enough, NCIS had its fair share of actors, hosts and even political figures joining the team.
Here are 8 biggest names who have joined the NCIS family throughout the years, and where exactly in the show you can find them.
Troian Bellisario
Best known for her portrayal of Spencer Hastings in Pretty Little Liars, Bellisario appeared in two episodes of NCIS as Agent McGee's sister, Sarah. Her appearance on the show before her big break is easy to explain, as Troian is the daughter of Donald P. Bellisario, the mastermind behind both Jag and NCIS.

Exclusive: Death and Other Details co-creator/executive producer Mike Weiss has joined CBS’ drama series FBI as executive producer and showrunner. Meanwhile, Allen MacDonald has been tapped as executive producer and showrunner of NBC’s Chicago Med. Both Wolf Entertainment/Universal Television dramas are Top 10 broadcast series in Live+7 Nielsen viewership.
Weiss and MacDonald fill the showrunner vacancies left by the departures of veterans Rick Eid (FBI) and Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider (Chicago Med) who had been at the helm of the two series from the start. (Eid continues as showrunner of Wolf’s Law & Order.) The showrunners of the remaining FBI, Chicago and Law & Order series are staying put.
FBI, which recently scored a three-year renewal from CBS, is headed to its seventh season; Chicago Med is going into its 10th season.

CBS canceled a lot of popular shows this season. They canceled Blue Bloods, NCIS: Hawai’i, and CSI: Vegas. They also announced they will bring back S.W.A.T., but only for one more season. The reason the network execs gave was that they wanted to “freshen” things up and hope viewers would like the new shows replacing the beloved canceled series.
One way to do that is by adding in another franchise show, but this one will be very different from everything that came before. CSI: Miami is coming back in a new format.
CBS Bringing Back CSI: Miami As A Different Show
CBS has offered up some replacements for the departing shows, but it remains to be seen if fans care enough to buy into the new ones. For example, NCIS: Hawai’i is going away, but a show called NCIS: Origins is replacing it. For Blue Bloods, CBS is bringing in...
