Almost nothing about Roy Moore’s candidacy for Senate has been without controversy.

First, he challenged incumbent Luther Strange, who had been appointed to replace Jeff Sessions when he was tapped by President Donald Trump to serve as U.S. Attorney General. During the primary, he waved a gun at an election eve campaign rally, lacked support from the Republican establishment and has called Islam a “false religion.”

But none of that scared off Alabama voters on Sept. 26, who supported Moore in the Republican primary runoff for Sessions’ vacated Senate seat.

Colorado-based Half Crown Media has hired UK screenwriter Bart Gavigan to write an untitled biopic about the British missionary Hudson Taylor.

Gavigan [pictured] has a proven record of bringing historical dramas to the big screen, such as 2003’s Luther starring Alfred Molina and Joseph Fiennes and the 2006 film End Of The Spear, which also concerns Christian missionaries.

Taylor was a 19th century Protestant missionary and medical student sent to China.

He was renowned for his sensitivity to the local culture, treatment of thousands of opium victims and for establishing the organisation China Inland Mission that was responsible for 18,000 conversions.

“This film has enormous potential,” said producer and Half Crown Media chairman Ken Haron. “The universal appeal of this extraordinary drama deserves the talents of Bart Gavigan and others who together will create an outstanding production and worldwide release.”

The project is out to cast and investors.

A great many things happen in the "Glee" Season 4 finale, "All or Nothing." Brittany deals with being a sudden and MIT-bound genius. Ryder finds out the identity of his catfishing buddy. Rachel has a "Funny Girl" callback.

There's a proposal. There's a wedding. And many people sing many songs.

The casting process for American Horror Story Season 2 has almost wrapped up, with Chloe Sevigny, James Cromwell, Lizzie Brocheré and Adam Levine among the new faces we’ll see. A new report reveals the last major actor that should be joining the cast.

Joseph Fiennes (pictured below) is probably best known for his role in Shakespeare in Love, but has also appeared in Camelot, FlashForward, Enemy at the Gates, Luther and Elizabeth. According to EW, he is in negotiations to play the head of the institution for the criminally insane where Jessica Lange works. The 42 annual NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced Wednesday (Jan. 12) by actresses Kimberly Elisa and Sanaa Lathan, rapper 50 Cent, singer Smokey Robinson and actors Columbus Short and Affion Crockett at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA.

ABC and NBC led the TV categories with 18 nominations each, followed by CBS and the Lifetime Movie Network with 10 apiece. "Grey's Anatomy" and "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" tied at five noms apiece, while "For Colored Girls" topped all other movies or TV series with seven nominations. The DGA, which unveiled the small-screen nominations in eight categories last Friday, will announce the winners Jan. 30 at its 62nd annual awards ceremonies at the Century Plaza Hotel. AMC’s Mad Men received three Directors Guild of America TV nominations for drama series and HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and Fox’s Glee each got a pair for comedy. The nominations included a trio of season finales in Mad Men, Curb and ABC’s Lost. In the comedy category, two shows — the pilot for ABC’s Modern Family and Glee — also received nominations.

If there's a series that we can look forward to (pun not intended, but haha) this fall, it's ABC's Flash Forward.  It's not just because it's been billed as the next Lost, but it's because of the interesting premise and the all-star cast.  Leading the pack is English actor Joseph Fiennes, who I wouldn't really know about if it wasn't for his brother Voldemort.

Anyway, Joseph Fiennes has his own brilliant list of credentials. He portrayed Shakespeare in Shakespeare in Love and Martin Luther in Luther.  With those title roles, it's only natural he get himself into television and bag the lead role in Flash Forward. He's just as excited as we are.

Legendary character actor Peter Ustinov, who won two Oscars for roles in Spartacus and Topkapi, died Sunday night in Switzerland of heart failure; he was 82. Also a prolific writer, Ustinov began his acting career at the age of 17 and sold his first screenplay (for The True Glory) at 24. At age 30, he earned his first Oscar nomination for his turn as Nero in Quo Vadis?, effectively establishing himself as one of the screen's most versatile supporting actors. Though known to most moviegoers as a portly British character actor, Ustinov was a multi-talented entertainer who also wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the acclaimed 1962 film Billy Budd, wrote innumerable novels and plays (including Romanoff and Juliet), and traveled extensively as a humanitarian, raconteur and humorist. Ustinov's biographer, John Miller, once remarked that the actor, who was knighted in 1990, "had enough careers for about six other men." Though confined to a wheelchair later in his life, Ustinov continued to raise money for UNICEF and most recently appeared in the film Luther. COLOGNE -- British actor-writer-director Peter Ustinov will be awarded the Bavarian Film Prize for his life's work, German pubcaster Bayerische Rundfunk reported Wednesday. The award, presented by the German state of Bavaria, is one of the country's top film honors. Last year's prize went to director Roman Polanski. Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Ustinov is still a top draw in Germany, where he regularly appears in commercials and talk shows as well as German films and television series. Ustinov is currently on screen in Luther, Eric Till's German-financed biopic of Martin Luther. The 82-year-old actor also appears alongside Sinead Cusack and Geraldine Chaplin in the miniseries Winter Solstice, which airs Christmas Day on Germany's ZDF. Ustinov will receive the award at a Jan. 16 ceremony in Munich.
