That was a Moon Pie, a popular confection found commonly throughout the southern United States. It consists of marshmallow sandwiched between two graham cookies, the whole covered in chocolate. An oft-repeated legend has it that it served as a poor man's or workingman's lunch, when paired with an RC Cola (a regional cheaper brand of cola than Coca-Cola). The combination was so popular it has beem immortalized in at least three different songs with the title "RC Cola And A Moon Pie" - by Big Bill Lister in 1951, by Lonzo and Oscar in 1963, and by NRBQ in 1973.
Its inclusion in the movie is related to at least two plot points: the movie is set in the South; and Jenna, who was fond of pies and generous with them, wouldn't have had been able to bake a pie while in the hospital. Although technically it is not a pie, its name serves as a writer's wink to the audience.
