Though not actually shown, this features the first of three whippings Lee Majors receives in "The Big Valley (1965)." The other two whippings occur in The Iron Box (1966) and Journey Into Violence (1967).

Goofs
This epsode makes it seem that the Barkley Ranch is very close to Mexico. However, they are actually in the San Joaquin valley in central California and near Stockton. This is a bit over 400 miles north of the Mexican border.
