Once again, that guy running free in the hospital, treating patients, attending surgery, is so far off the wall as to be ludicrous. Erlich is a disaster. He is whiney and unprofessional. He's continuously late for important sessions. They keep talking about his skills, but he is scared of everything medical. We also have the reconnection of David Birney (the lech) with this beautiful new doctor whom he knew from the past. Two fashion models are going to get together. The harshest thing is the large woman who comes in in pain and finds she is about to give birth. She didn't even know she was pregnant. Her story is the one real one. Of course, we continue with the couple whose marriage has fallen apart. He is childish and lacks the ability to face the slightest problems.
I truly hate how they portray Luther to be this Black idiot hospital gossip. It's the same problem Esther Rolle had with the portrayal of J. J. on Good Times like they have rocks for brains and lack the ability to take anything seriously. Given the time period it is racially unfair that they only viewed Black people to embody two mediums: the comedic relief or the overly serious trying to prove my worth character. As well letting a known unstable psych ward patient roam a hospital free is grounds for him to get fired. Idk what they were smoking in the 80s because this would not be allowed ever and would leave the hospital vulnerable to a potential lawsuit because of his actions therefore this plot line/ story is dumb and unnecessary.
