Ron Howard’s “Thirteen Lives” tells the real-life story of how a young boys’ soccer team was rescued from the Thai mountain cave where they got stuck for 10 days along with their coach.

Other new film arrivals include hits from earlier this summer, “The Lost City” starring Sandra Bullock, Daniel Radcliffe, Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt, as well as “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” Academy Award-nominated film “Licorice Pizza” also arrives on Prime Video this month.

Lindsay Lohan is expanding on her relationship with Netflix, with a deal for two more original films in which she’ll star, the streamer announced today.

Lohan’s deal comes following her attachment to Falling for Christmas, a holiday rom-com that is slated to debut on Netflix later this year. In it, she plays a newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress who gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner (Chord Overstreet) and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is an Indian Hindi-language biopic which tells the inspirational story of Gunjan Saxena (as played by Janhvi Kapoor), the first ever female pilot to serve in the Indian Air Force during combat. As with many other movies this year, it was supposed to reach cinemas a few months back but its theatrical release was cancelled due to the pandemic, with Netflix stepping in to distribute instead.

If you’re looking for the best streaming content you can get, you’re probably subscribed to Netflix. And that’s a great thing lately, as the platform has been dropping excellent titles week over week for months now. This month alone has already been great with the addition of the entire Jurassic Park trilogy, quirky flicks like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Being John Malkovich and, of course, the forgotten Adam Sandler comedy Mr. Deeds.

However, as exciting as some of this month’s new films and shows have been so far, today has brought along an absolutely horrible movie that would be better used as torture than entertainment. Earning itself an abysmal 4% on Rotten Tomatoes, today’s addition of Scary Movie 5 lives up to its name only in the sense that it’s terrifyingly terrible.

Building on a busy month for library expansions, Netflix are now planning to put up a number of new titles this week. In terms of what’s coming from August 10th to August 16th, highlights include four seasons of The Legend of Korra, original movie Project Power, and critical favorites such as Nightcrawler.
