The title promises disaster, and the movie delivers: “Love, Weddings & Other Disasters” is a witless, charmless, barely-written, indifferently acted, hideously shot, and generally odious waste of 90 minutes.
In stringing together various overlapping love stories, all of them thoroughly irritating and utterly lacking in human insight, writer-director Dennis Dugan seems to be auditioning to take over the painfully inane ensemble pieces of late-period Garry Marshall. I once joked that Marshall’s “Valentine’s Day” made “Love Actually” look like “Nashville,” but “Love, Weddings & Other Disasters” makes “Valentine’s Day” look like “The Shop Around the Corner.”
Dugan has spent the last quarter-century as one of the main co-conspirators of the Happy Madison Death-of-Cinema Fun Factory, but his terrible Adam Sandler movies (including “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” and “Grown Ups 2”) at least offer the allure of big names collecting a paycheck in movies that might not be funny...

Megan Suri, who appeared in Fresh Off the Boat, has joined Netflix comedy Never Have I Ever. She is set to play Aneesa, a new Indian student at Sherman Oaks High, whose confidence and radiance will pose an immediate threat to Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s Devi.
Suri previously appeared in ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat, playing the daughter of Mina (Preity Zinta) in what was planned as the backdoor pilot for The Magic Motor Inn. Suri has also starred in feature film Valentine’s Day, HBO’s The Brink and Netflix’s Atypical as well as booking her first title role in feature The Miseducation of Bindu alongside Priyanka Bose and David Arquette.
This comes as cameras are rolling for the second season of Never Have I Ever, which was co-created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher.
Kaling, speaking recently at a PaleyFest event, said filming on the second season was going well despite the pandemic.

Netflix is bringing back your favorite childhood superheroes, Sharkboy and Lavagirl, for its new film We Can Be Heroes. The movie, which is set to release on Jan. 1, will show the dynamic duo from 2005's The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D as parents. While Taylor Dooley is reprising her role as Lavagirl, Taylor Lautner will not be returning as Sharkboy. Instead, the character will be played by JJ Dashnaw, who conveniently wears a mask in the film. Dashnaw has done stunt work in a number of big films, including Jumanji: The Next Level, Thor: The Dark World, and the Spy Kids movies, so it's likely Sharkboy will have some action-packed moments.

While it's unclear why Lautner didn't reprise his childhood role for the movie, there is some good news. Dashnaw will only have a silent cameo, meaning there's still a chance...

Hollywood actress Jessica Alba feels women will not take a step back as the entertainment industry moves towards revival in the aftermath of the Covid pandemic. She says women are going to be in high demand, adding that if anybody is going to stay at home, it will probably be men.
"I actually feel like women are in such high demand that if anybody is going to be staying at home, it will probably be going to be the man," Alba said while talking about how the industry will change after the virus crisis, and the place of women in the new reality.
"There really is a major pull on women -- behind the camera, in executive positions, in positions of power -- because it is proven that your business will thrive and will be better off, if there's diversity. So, if you have too much of one thing or the another,...

It’s the way it always is with Netflix. You get a load of new content every month, but you also lose a bunch of old favorites, too, as the rights agreements expire and they hop over to some other streaming service. September will be no different, as we’ve now got a list of everything that’s set to be removed from Netflix on the first day of the month after next.
There are a number of notable titles among them, too. First of all, the first two Bad Boys movies are leaving the site on September 1st, so make sure to give them another watch sometime in the next few weeks. Unfortunately, Netflix is losing a couple of classic horrors as well. Namely, 1988’s Child’s Play and the original Candyman, ahead of the Jordan Peele-produced remake that’s on the way.

Today is March 1st, which means we have a whole new set of titles to tell you about that just dropped on Netflix. The streaming service has 54 new movies/TV shows from nearly every major studio, including Warner Bros., Paramount and Sony, and while that number is still ten less than what we got last March, there’s far more original content on the service than there was a year ago. So, trust me when I say you’ve got plenty of options.
So many options, in fact, that I often find myself browsing for so long that I can’t decide on what to watch until it gets too late and I go to bed instead. First world problems, right?
In any case, below you’ll find the full list as well as a few descriptions of some personal favorites. Or some that I just felt like commenting on.

Netflix is adding a robust line-up of popular programs to its slate in March.
In addition to rom-coms like Matthew Mcconaughey’s “Ghosts of Girlfriend’s Past,” “He’s Just Not That Into You” and “Always a Bridesmaid,” the streamer is also adding a few classics like “Goodfellas” and “The Shawshank Redemption” starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. The latter film also serves as an analogy for actor Macaulay Culkin’s journey to freedom, according to his Esquire interview.
Original Netflix shows coming to the platform next month include “Lost Girls,” “Crip Camp” and Season 3 of “Elite.” Based on a true story, “Lost Girls” follows a mother who, in her desperate search to find her missing daughter, helps to uncover a string of unsolved murders. Amy Ryan, Gabriel Byrne and Thomasin Mckenzie make up the cast.

Despite its feel-good title, “The Kindness of Strangers” is a rather bleak movie, one so tied to the miseries of its characters that it’s difficult to see the point of it at all.
Perhaps there is no point other than to get a number of famous actors to occasionally cross paths in a dreary New York City in the winter. The movie functions like one of those star-studded Garry Marshall ensemble movies (“Valentine’s Day” or “New Year’s Eve”) but made terribly sad until the last few minutes, when a tacked-on happy ending arrives in time for the credits.
Written and directed by Lone Scherfig, “The Kindness of Strangers” begins with the story of Clara (Zoe Kazan) and her two young boys fleeing an abusive marriage. Most of her time on screen will be spent scavenging for supplies and figuring out how to keep living in the big city with...

Entertainment One and animation studio Astley Baker Davies have cast a new voice artist for the role of Peppa Pig.
Nine-year-old Amelie Bea Smith makes her debut voicing the title character of the animated hit in new episodes that launch next month in the U.K., U.S., Australia and international territories that air episodes in English.
Smith is the fourth British voice artist to take on the role in English-speaking territories. Her voice will first appear in the “Peppa Pig” episode Valentine’s Day.
Before voicing “Peppa Pig,” she appeared in several episodes of long-running British soap opera “EastEnders” in 2018 and 2019.
Smith takes over from Harley Bird, now 18, who has been the voice of Peppa Pig from the age of five and won a BAFTA for the role in 2011. Bird is in her final year of school, and her acting credits also include feature film “How I Live Now,” alongside Saorise Ronan,...

We’ve had Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2U, but what about Happy Death Day to M3?
It’s a stretch, but when ComicBook.com caught up with writer-director Christopher Landon and series producer Jason Blum, the former weighed in on the possibility of a third installment in the cult horror series. Alas, while it was revealed just recently that Landon had begun work on a new horror project at Blumhouse, it’s definitely not Happy Death Day 3, though the filmmaker admits to having an outline for where things could go… should the stars ever align.
I had a fair amount of detail for the third movie as well, though I did not write a script. I have an outline for that third movie, but I did not bother writing the script just because, A) I was making the second movie and B) I didn’t want to assume that like,...

Bradley Cooper has Jennifer Garner to thank for his successful career. Well, at least according to Jennifer. On Saturday, the actress posted an endearing birthday message to Bradley, who turned 44 years old. She shared a picture of the two on set of the early-2000s show Alias. In the snapshot, the two are laughing and embracing each other. "I taught him everything he knows," Jennifer quipped. "Happy Birthday, Bradley. Go get em tomorrow. We are all so proud of you."
In the series Alias, Jennifer played lead character and secret spy Sydney Bristow. Bradley portrayed Will Tippin - one of Sydney's friends and a local reporter who finds himself pulled into Sydney's milieu of espionage.
Although the show ended in 2006, Jennifer and Bradley have maintained a pretty solid friendship. They shared the screen again in the 2010 film Valentine's Day and reunited at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards show. Three years later,...

Warner Bros. sure did give couples an easy fix for their February holiday. Valentine's Day took in approximately $67 million over the four-day frame, grossing an estimated $21 million on the actual day itself. The romantic comedy's success practically greenlights Warner Bros. next attempt at a holiday-themed ensemble comedy, New Year's Eve, which they are contemplating putting into production immediately. The weekend was also a boon for the family literary adaptation. While there didn't seem to be much heat on Percy Jackson & the Olympians going into the weekend, moviegoers still showed up in droves. The PG-rated film, from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone director Chris Columbus,...

The star-studded comedy "Valentine's Day" shot to the top of North American box office charts during the long U.S. President's day weekend, which is poised to land in the record books for ticket sales.

In honor of both Valentine's Day and the President's Day three-day weekend, Hollywood has programmed three films for three distinct audiences. But let's be clear: Valentine's Day from veteran director Garry Marshall is driving the pack and should do at least $50 million for the four-day frame. If it's successful, which it's destined to be, expect to see a whole lot more movies where A-list actors work in a large ensemble cast for only a few days for reduced pay. It's one easy way to earn a living. Competing for those holiday box-office dollars this weekend is Universal's R-rated horror film...

Warner Bros. opens Garry Marshall's "Valentine's Day" on Friday at the start of a four-day frame featuring that holiday and Presidents Day, with the ensemble romantic comedy a prohibitive favorite to top the session with $45 million or more in domestic boxoffice.
Two other big pics also are set to bow wide. Fox sends out kids movie "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," while Universal debuts Benicio Del Toro starrer "The Wolfman."
Date-movie couples will represent key support for "Valentine's," though the PG-13 pic is expected to skew heavily female. Figuring among "Valentine's" star-studded cast are Anne Hathaway, Topher Grace, Jennifer Garner, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Patrick Dempsey, Jessica Alba, Taylor Lautner, Queen Latifah and Jamie Foxx.
"We're going to have a big weekend," Warners distribution topper Dan Fellman said. "All the stars are aligned, no pun intended."

Valentine's Day Sequel Underway
Hollywood bosses are already working on a sequel to star-studded new movie Valentine's Day - the follow up will be based on another special holiday, New Year's Eve.
The romantic comedy, which boasts a stellar line-up including Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Anne Hathaway, Patrick Dempsey and Jennifer Garner, is set to hit cinemas on 12 February - just in time for the romantic occasion on 14 February.
And producers are so sure of success, they are already plotting their next movie - which will feature some of the same characters in New York City on 31 December, according to Variety.com.
Director Garry Marshall is expected to return to helm New Year's Eve, which is slated for release in late 2011.

From Hollywood Crush: It's not even 2010 yet, but already we're counting down the days until "Valentine's Day" hits theaters. Ensemble romantic comedies tend to be some of the better rom-coms that are put out nowadays (look at this year's "He's Just Not That Into You" or our personal Christmas favorite, 2001's "Love Actually"), and even though we have some reservations on how this particular star-fest will hold up, it's still something we can't wait to see.
The second trailer (see it after the jump!) hit theaters over the weekend, and it's definitely showing off its aspect that is getting all the buzz: its massive cast. We see in the trailer how much of the film will be spent interweaving its characters with one another, such as can be seen with Ashton Kutcher in particular and at the Anti-Valentine's Day party lead by Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel.

In a competitive-bidding environment, DreamWorks Studios has picked up a pitch from screenwriter Andrea McCloud titled "I Saw You."
Based on a comics anthology edited by Julia Wertz, the pitch revolves around four intersecting love stories derived from missed-connections ads. George Tillman Jr. is attached to direct and produce through his State Street Pictures with Robert Teitel. Wertz also will produce.
The pitch sale was in the mid-six figures.
Wertz's "I Saw You ..." collected comics based on real-life missed-connection ads on Craigslist and in local papers. Random House's Three Rivers Press imprint published the trade paperback in February.
The ensemble romantic comedy has become a subgenre unto itself of late, with such films as "Love Actually," "He's Just Not That Into You" and the forthcoming "Valentine's Day" using the intertwining-story format.
As it moves back into production, the newly independent DreamWorks is fashioning several potential comedy projects. The studio has...

From MTV.Com: Jessica Biel has now entered the "Twilight" universe, as she's co-starring with Taylor Lautner in the new romantic comedy "Valentine's Day," set to hit theaters early next year. So, now that Biel and Lautner have collaborated on the rom-com, could we see the actress set foot in Forks, Washington? She wouldn't rule it out.
"Well, I'm clearly familiar with the films. I haven't read the books, but I haven't seen any of the films yet so I'm not that familiar — I know the idea of what it's about," she told MTV News. "I mean, maybe [I'd be in the next 'Twilight' film]. That would be lovely. I am not opposed to playing a vampire."

New Line is just that into Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein.
The studio has signed the duo to pen "Valentine's Day," a love story revolving around five relationships in Los Angeles, all of which are put through the paces during the course of one Feb. 14.
"On Valentine's Day there's so much more pressure on a relationship," producer Mike Karz said. "A lot of the movie is about how that increases the tension." The relationships will run the age gamut, Karz said.
The CAA-repped Kohn and Silverstein recently penned the ensemble romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You," the New Line pic based on Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo's best-seller which opens this weekend.
Garry Marshall is attached to direct "Day," while Karz and Wayne Rice are on board to produce the film, which is based on an original script by Katherine Fugate. Josie Rosen is exec producing, and...
