To me, my X-Men!
We may have just gotten our first piece of X-Men casting as Jeff Sneider (via The Hot Mic podcast and his The InSneider newsletter) is reporting that Sadie Sink (Stranger Things; The Whale) is the current frontrunner to land the highly coveted role of Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with her possibly set to debut in 2026's Avengers: Doomsday.
Sneider stresses that it's still early in the process, so things could always change as casting ramps up for Doomsday and/or Secret Wars, but he's very confident in his source, so this could absolutely be our first glimpse at what Kevin Feige and company are cooking for their X-Men movie, and it looks like they're going younger for some of the key players.
While unconfirmed, it's likely The Russo Brothers are involved with this casting and they do have a pretty solid track record...

Writer, actor, producer and director Mike White has one of the most eclectic filmographies in Hollywood, and now here he is steering a hugely successful TV project with The White Lotus.
Remember, though, his days as an indie darling in the late 1990s when he penned films like the terrific Chuck And Buck, The Good Girl and Orange County. Then there was Richard Linklater’s School Of Rock, before returning to smaller fare like Year Of The Dog and Brad’s Status. He then turned to television, scripting two series of Enlightened starring Laura Dern.
In 2021, White created what has become his most acclaimed work, the aforementioned The White Lotus, which has amassed a plethora of Emmys across its run so far, both for White’s writing and Jennifer Coolidge...

People don't talk much about "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" these days. Maybe that's because it only lasted two seasons, the first of which was truncated to just nine episodes due to the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike. Or maybe it was just an early sign of what later "Terminator" movies like "Salvation" and "Genisys" seemed to prove -- that in the wake of James Cameron leaving the franchise and the '80s aesthetic that once defined it dropping off, "Terminator" just wasn't that big of a hit anymore.
The shame, of course, is that "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" is actually pretty solid, unlike the aforementioned films. You'd think that after "Game of Thrones" made Lena Headey a global superstar, fans would be interested in going back and revisiting the high-concept sci-fi show she headlined just a few years before being cast as Cersei Lannister. Summer Glau also co-starred in the series,...

Zachary Levi is going to be a dad for the first time!
The Shazam! actor revealed on Instagram Friday that he is expecting his first baby with girlfriend Maggie Keating. In the post, Levi also shared a photo of an ultrasound of their baby, in addition to a picture of Keating hugging the actor on the beach.
“I’ve wanted to be a dad since I was literally a kid,” he wrote in the caption. “I’ve always felt that call on my life. This desire in my heart. A strange feeling of incompleteness by not having that level of love and responsibility in my journey. That the best years of my life would be on the other side of finally being a father. There’s no love lost between She Loves Me lovebirds, Laura Benanti and Zachary Levi.
Though they shared the Broadway stage in a successful and Tony Award-winning 2016 musical revival, Benanti made it clear in a new podcast interview that she was never a fan of Levi, who at the time was a successful TV star from NBC’s Chuck and on his way to movie stardom as the title character in DC’s Shazam! “I never liked him,” Benanti told Eric Williams on his That’s a Gay Ass Podcast. “Everyone was like, ‘He’s so great!’ And I was like, ‘No, he’s not. He’s sucking up all the fucking energy in this room. He wants to mansplain everybody’s part to them.'”

I have very sad news to report tonight. It has been announced that Tony Todd has died at the age of 69. The legendary actor is best known for his roles in Candyman, Final Destination, Platoon, The Crow, Night of the Living Dead, and his many appearances in the Star Trek franchise. He was a massively talented actor whose incredible baritone voice made every project so much better. This is a huge blow.
Todd’s wife, Fatima, told THR that he died on Wednesday at his home in Marina del Rey after a long illness. New Line Cinema, the studio which produces the Final Destination franchise, wrote on Instagram: “The industry has lost a legend. We have lost a cherished friend. Rest in peace, Tony, -Your Final Destination Family.“

Dancing With the Stars Season 33 has been one of the best seasons in years, so we’re excited to see where the hit competition series goes next.
After Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber were eliminated from the show last week, there was a sense that anyone could go next, and we have bad news if you’re expecting a new episode this evening.
The series is on a short-term hiatus.
Like most other networks, ABC will air election night coverage after voting closes.
This isn’t the first time the series has been put on hold this season, so we’re accustomed to schedule shakeups by this point in the show’s run.
The good news is that we already know when to expect the show to return, with Dancing With the Stars Season 33, Episode 8, set to air on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

If Hollywood is good at anything, it’s seeing what hits big at the box office and then churning out a hundred clones of that product until it gets driven into the ground. We see it all the time. One such incident came around the release of the 1978 film Halloween. Once it began to rack up box office numbers, everyone scrambled to put out their own slasher film, preferably built around a holiday. This led to a glut of slasher films – which, if you’re a slasher fan like myself, was a fantastic time to be alive. Let’s look at the best Halloween rip-offs.
Offerings (1989)
Offerings might be the most egregious rip-off Halloween there could be. A young kid accidentally falls down a well while playing with a group of kids. Some of them scare him as he’s walking along the edge, and he hits his head.

As the shocking news of Brandon Barash’s Days of our Lives exit settles across Salem, here’s why his old stomping grounds of General Hospital should scoop him back up, and fast.
Barash’s History
Barash started out on daytime when he joined Gh in 2007 as Johnny, the son of Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) mob nemesis Anthony (Bruce Weitz) – or so they thought. After memorable relationships with characters like Lulu, Carly (Laura Wright), and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) and finding out his actual parents were Gino (Joseph Sirola) and the woman he believed was his sister, he was sent to Pentonville after taking the fall for a crime Lulu committed, prompting Barash’s 2016 exit.
In 2019, Barash arrived in Salem when he took on the role of Stefan (previously played by the late Gh star Tyler Christopher). Barash joined a list of Days actors to play more than one character when...

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles Creator Josh Friedman On James Cameron, Cancer, And Cancellation
Sarah Connor was dead. Or was she? Well, yes, according to 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines – but death can’t compete with TV. It was 2006 when Josh Friedman, who had co-written Steven Spielberg’s War Of The Worlds, was approached by Warner Bros. Television to write what would become The Sarah Connor Chronicles. A series picking up from where James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day left off, it followed Sarah (Lena Headey) and her prodigious son John (Thomas Dekker) as they, along with Cameron (Summer Glau), a protector Terminator, continued to battle Skynet and evade murderous cyborg stalkers. Launching in January 2008, it enjoyed two seasons until it was, in April 2009, abruptly… well, terminated.
Fifteen years on, we speak to Friedman about legacy, cancer, and Shirley Manson disguised as a urinal.
When you were hired to write this show, Terminator 3 had come and gone. Is it fair...

Superhero movies cost a lot to make. Primarily due to CGI, action, and, as it turns out the costumes. There’s a fine balance between being functional, comic-accurate, and realistic, and the superhero suits have really evolved since their humble beginnings.
This is something we discussed recently. As it turns out one of the Wolverine suits in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ that is seen only briefly cost $100K to make.
Dean: One of our storyboard artists was a huge comic book fan and he gave us a list of, like, ten of them. There was also, and maybe no on really likes to hear this, time and budget issues you have to deal with as well. Here’s a perfect example: the brown and tan, we spent around $100,000 building that suit.
It was eventually explained why it cost so much to make. Apparently, it’s been hand-crafted to fit Hugh Jackman:

ESPN’s Chris Fowler may find himself in an unusual position when he’s in the middle of calling one of the college football games slated for broadcast on ABC or ESPN. He may look up at a monitor during a commercial break and see himself talking to millions of viewers — even though the network is showing nothing but ads.
That’s because Fowler, well known to sports fans thanks to years of calling ABC’s Saturday-night college football games and hosting ESPN’s long-running “College GameDay,” is an integral part of a new ad campaign from Heineken’s Dos Equis that seeks to make the beer a critical part of the game experience. In addition to commercials that feature Fowler acting as a coach, Dos Equis has been running a sweepstakes that could reward contestants when teams “go for dos” and attempt a two-point conversion.

You might have heard it – or not – but Hollywood actor Zachary Levi, probably best known for portraying the superhero Shazam in the Dceu, has recently endorsed GOP candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
After some – obviously more relevant – celebrities, like Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lawrence, supported Kamala Harris, Levi has now joined a list of mostly controversial and not-so-relevant celebs who have supported Trump, including but not limited to Roseanne Barr, Russell Brand, Jim Caviezel, Kelsey Grammer, Rob Schneider, Jon Voight, and James Woods.
And while Levi said that he initially endorsed Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who recently withdrew from the elections and told the people to vote for Trump, now that Rfk Jr. is out, Levi – naturally(?) – joined Trump’s campaign as a celebrity endorser.
We don’t know why he decided to openly support Trump and how much of his own political views align with Trump’s views,...

While Stephen King is known as the King of Horror, he has produced masterpieces when he deviated from his usual genre. Examples of such works include The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption. Now, King’s sci-fi novella, The Life of Chuck, from his collection If It Bleeds is adapted into a film, that debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The film, helmed by Mike Flanagan, was awarded the People’s Choice Award at the TIFF. The recognition has great significance for the film as fifteen of the last sixteen winners have been nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. The Life of Chuck will probably follow suit and earn a Best Picture nod at the Oscars.

The TIFF People’s Choice Award is usually a bellwether to the Oscars, but this year the prize reflects rather more deep-seated global concerns among the voters than just the race to Best Picture. Based on the short story of the same name by Stephen King — one of the four in his 2020 novella If It Bleeds — The Life of Chuck is, as might be expected from the Master of the Macabre, a story of human mortality presented as a strange, surrealist comedy. Charlie Kaufman has done this before — twice, in fact, with Synecdoche, New York (2008) and I’m Thinking of Ending Things (2020) — but Mike Flanagan’s film will likely go down a little smoother, with a lightness that undercuts the overarching tragedy.
Flanagan introduced the world premiere at Toronto with a quote from King himself: “When an old man dies, a library burns down.” Its relevance is not immediately clear but will become so over time,...

The Shining is often hailed as one of the best works in the horror genre. The Stephen King adaptation’s unconventional approach and Jack Nicholson’s menacing performance make it iconic among horror film fans. However, sadly, the 1980 film never found a fan in the author.

Stephen King has always been vocal against Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation. The film had some considerable deviations from the original novel, disappointing the author. Although the film was even selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2018 for its cultural, historical, and aesthetic significance, King never supported it.

Stanley Kubrick‘s The Shining had some notable differences from the iconic Stephen King novel. According to King, these changes were absolutely unnecessary and affected the depth of the story.

The Life of Chuck takes viewers on a surreal journey through the collapse of the world. Based on a Stephen King novella and directed by Mike Flanagan, known for chilling adaptations like Gerald’s Game, the film follows an unusual reverse chronological structure over three mysterious acts.
We first drop into a small town gripped by global catastrophe. Communications have cut out, strange creatures roam the darkness, and survivors wander aimlessly amid the rubble. A schoolteacher and doctor do their best to keep spirits from crumbling completely. Billboards everywhere thank an enigmatic man named Chuck for “39 great years,” though no one seems to know who he is or what he’s retiring from.
As the world falls apart, scene by vivid scene, flickers of Chalie’s past gradually emerge. Flashbacks reveal how his quiet life was once stirred by unexpected joy. Along the way, the talented cast brings an eclectic mix of characters to life.

Zachary Levi was well on his way to becoming one of the A-listers of Hollywood after starring in the widely successful Shazam! However, his career seems to have peaked with that DC film as his films since have consistently been underwhelming or downright box-office disasters.
His latest film, Harold and the Purple Crayon, will reportedly debut on streaming this week, barely a month after its theatrical release. The film reportedly earned $23 million at the global box office, against a $40 million budget. With Shazam! Fury of the Gods also being a disaster, Levi’s career might just be over.

Zachary Levi recently faced another setback in his career after the poor box office performance of Harold and the Purple Crayon. The film received negative reviews and could not seem to perform well due to the presence of films like Deadpool & Wolverine, Despicable Me 4, and Inside Out 2.
The failure came on the heels of his other huge flop last year Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The Dceu film was a box office disappointment, earning only $134 million against a $125 million budget. However, the actor seemed to have taken the failure in stride as a recent interview joked about the film.

Henry Cavill’s role as Superman has found a resurgence of fans after he was replaced by David Corenswet in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman. The actor played the role in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and went on to reprise his role in subsequent sequels. Though he was slated to return, he had to depart from the character after James Gunn’s reboot.
While Cavill had bad luck with Superman, another actor from the Dceu faced a terrible experience after auditioning for the role. Matt Bomer, who is known for his role in White Collar, reportedly auditioned for JJ Abrams’ unmade project Superman: Flyby. However, Bomer claimed that he lost the role after multiple auditions due to his sexual orientation.

Mark Hamill is reuniting with Mike Flanagan for a future project, and according to the filmmaker, it could be the performance of a lifetime from the "Star Wars" star. Flanagan spoke briefly about working with Hamill during a panel at Austin's Atx festival recently, and /Film's Ryan Scott was there to report back.
The panel in question was titled "The Monologue Case Study," and it featured a closer look at some of writer-director Flanagan's most memorable, loquacious cinematic moments. At one point in the question and answer session, an attendee asked the "Midnight Mass" filmmaker if he's ever written monologues that he's later had to cut, and he admitted he has. "Mostly, with the writing, it's my fault," Flanagan said, noting that sometimes he realizes during the edit that a sequence is better with less explanation or commentary.
Luckily, that's apparently not the case with his unnamed upcoming collaboration with Hamill,...
