Khalid is speaking out in response to allegations made by his ex-boyfriend Hugo Almonte, who allegedly was the person who outed the singer as gay.
The 26-year-old “Young Dumb & Broke” singer came out as gay last week in a series of tweets after Hugo wrote about their relationship in since-deleted posts.
Hugo claimed that Khalid “lied and said that I broke into his house,” according to Rolling Stone. Hugo told the outlet that he didn’t mean to out anyone and he meant to “share how [Khalid] tried to use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship.”
Khalid posted a video on social media on Monday (November 25) in response to some of Hugo‘s allegations.

Back in 1956, director Fred M. Wilcox and writers Cyril Hume, Irving Block, and Allen Adler brought the world one of the most popular science fiction films ever made, Forbidden Planet, which earned an Oscar nomination for its special effects and, in 2013, was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, as the film is regarded as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” Of course, there have been rumblings of a remake for a long time. Fifteen years ago, there was even some talk about James Cameron directing the remake, and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski was working on the screenplay. That take on the concept never made it into production, but now Deadline reports that Hugo and Eisner Award-winning comic book writer and screenwriter Brian K. Vaughan, who created the comics Y: The Last Man and Runaways and worked on the TV...

The video game “Gotham Knights” served as an unexpected inspiration when it came to building Gotham City for HBO’s “The Penguin.”
Sony-owned Pixomondo, which specializes in pre-production, virtual production and visual effects, was tasked with the environmental design of Gotham’s world-building. Among those designs were the skylines of Gotham City, the aftermath of the flood damage from “The Batman” and rendering streets and buildings in various states of decay. Furthermore, subway shots were filled with garbage and rubble, adding to the gritty aesthetic of the show.
In the series, Colin Farrell reprises his role from “The Batman” playing Gotham City gangster Oswald “Oz” Cobb. The series picks up in the days after the events of “The Batman,” with Oz seeking to seize control of the Gotham underworld in the power vacuum created by the death of his former boss, Carmine Falcone.

Chloë Grace Moretz already had a lot of acting credits to her name before starring in Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass, but that role put her on the map...and generated a lot of controversy.
Given her young age at the time, the fact she was dropping F-bombs (and the odd C-word) shocked many, as did the sheer level of violence some of the 11-year-old's scenes included. Since then, Moretz has gone on to star in the likes of Let Me In, Hugo, Carrie, Tom & Jerry, and Kick-Ass 2, of course.
Now, the actor is making headlines after coming out as a "gay woman" on Instagram. Moretz revealed her sexual orientation in a post regarding her decision in the 2024 United States Presidential Election.
Moretz has been romantically linked to model Kate Harrison since 2018 but has never publicly commented on her sexuality. This cause was clearly one important enough to the actor to change that.

Martin Scorsese’s hate for superhero movies might’ve come from one DC sensation calling out his motto. Colin Farrell is currently the talk of Tinseltown, thanks to his makeover and performance as the Batman villain in Max’s The Penguin. Farrell once shared that he finds the Hollywood idea of “one for them, one for me” ridiculous.

Farrell has been one actor who always experimented with his role, regardless of the budget of the film. Farrell has been riding on a high recently with critically acclaimed roles in The Batman, Thirteen Lives, The Banshees of Inisherin, and most recently in The Penguin.

Christopher Lee may have become famous for his iconic performance as a young, suave, debonair Dracula, but his work went far beyond the Hammer Horror roles he is most often associated with. With a commanding voice, penetrating eyes and his imposing height, he often found himself cast as the villain, but like Vincent Price and his other horror contemporaries, the villains Lee played were often the most interesting and layered performance in the film.
Following a long and expansive career that began with uncredited roles in the 1940s, he worked later in life with the biggest names in the industry, appearing in major franchises like The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. He made five films with director Tim Burton and worked with Martin Scorsese on Hugo. Beyond his work on the screen, Lee led a fascinating life. Before his acting...

Sacha Baron Cohen made multiple headlines with his two Borat films for all the wrong reasons. Despite being critically acclaimed, both the mockumentary films have their fair share of controversies. For its unscripted and unconventional humor, the English comedian had to face many hurdles while filming the Borat series.

The Oscar for Best Visual Effects is particularly tough to predict because of the complicated system by which the nominees are determined in three stages. The members of the executive committee of the branch cast preferential ballots to determine 20 films for further consideration. These are then winnowed down to 10 semi-finalists, which will be announced on December 17, 2024. (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscar predictions for Best Visual Effects.)
All members of the branch are invited to a virtual screening of excerpts from these 10 films in January at which potential nominees may discuss their work. Ballots are counted using a system of re-weighted range voting to determine the five nominees, which will be revealed on January 17. The entire voting membership of the academy will then vote for the winners, which will be revealed during the 97th Academy Awards ceremony on March 2.

As is the case with most below-the-line Oscar categories, bigger equals better when it comes to Best Production Design. The more lavish the sets, the more accurate the period detail, the more extravagant the designs, the more likely your film will win an Academy Award. Formerly known as Best Art Direction/Set Decoration, this prize goes to the production designer and set decorator, leaving the poor art directors on the outside looking in; perhaps that accounts for the title change. (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscar predictions for Best Production Design.)
Like Best Costume Design, this award rarely corresponds with Best Picture. Before “The Shape of Water” prevailed in both categories in 2018, the last to line-up was “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” in 2004. Often, the winner of this race hasn’t even been nominated for the top prize, as was the case with “Memoirs of a Geisha...

At six of the last 11 Oscars, Best Cinematography has gone hand-in-hand with Best Director: Emmanuel Lubezki and Alfonso Cuaron for “Gravity” (2014); Lubezki and Alejandro G. Martin Scorsese was a fan of a director who contributed to the French New Wave films. If you are guessing François Truffaut or Jean-Luc Godard, you’re so wrong. Scorsese admired the films of female director Agnès Varda, who was known for her film Cléo from 5 to 7. The Departed director struck up a friendship with Varda in the ’70s and shared that he might have sought her approval for ideas.

Further praising the director, Scorsese shared that Varda broke all the rules of filmmaking and made films of varying shapes and sizes. Unlike Truffaut or Godard, Varda wasn’t a film critic, nor was she knowledgeable about films. She was a photographer who stumbled upon the art of filmmaking.

When it comes to strong opinions, George R.R. Martin is not the one to hold back, especially when it comes to a certain wizard boy. The acclaimed author, known for creating the expanding world of Westeros, has done exactly the same when it came to addressing the author of the fantasy series, J.K. Rowling.

Chris Columbus found immense international success when he made the first two Harry Potter films. Following Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets, Columbus returned to produce Prisoner of Azkaban. After that, he was not involved in any of the Daniel Radcliffe projects. Nevertheless, the fascination of the filmmaker with the media franchise convinced him to devise a unique plan for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

The Harry Potter film series, starring Daniel Radcliffe, has a massive fan following among modern pop culture enthusiasts. All the eight movies in the franchise, based on the works of J.K. Rowling, went massive at the box office. Interestingly, despite such a success, the films could never do anything significant at the Academy Awards.

There’s barely any actor in the entertainment industry who would sell their soul to Lord Voldemort to get an endorsement from an acclaimed filmmaker like Martin Scorsese. But when it came to the Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, he apparently received the director’s alleged praise out of nowhere, back in 2010.

Fresh out of the Harry Potter fame, The Sun had once reported how Rupert Grint had earned Martin Scorsese’s apparent praise and comparison with Leonardo DiCaprio. It was also stated that Scorsese had supposedly expressed his desire to cast Grint as a gangster in his films. While “Taxi Driver” and “Raging Bull” basically put Martin Scorsese and Paul Schrader on the map as massive cinematic forces and “The Last Temptation of Christ” continues to have a strong cult following, as well as an early Criterion Collection release (Spine #70 to be exact), their final collaboration, 1999’s “Bringing Out the Dead,” starring Nicolas Cage and Patricia Arquette, still has yet to receive the praise and recognition of their previous works.
Paramount, the studio behind the film, seems to want to change that this upcoming September, as they plan on giving the psychological drama a 4K Uhd Blu-Ray release to coincide with its 25th anniversary. June 4, 2024 – Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley, beloved James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan and Star Wars universe luminary Mark Hamill form the ultimate vocal rogues’ gallery in Mofac Animation’s upcoming The King of Kings, an animated family film inspired by a little-known short story by Charles Dickens depicting the life and times of Jesus Christ.
Kingsley voices High Priest Caiaphas, who presided over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus. Hamill takes on the role of King Herod, who, according to the Gospel of Matthew, ordered the Massacre of the Innocents in an attempt to kill Jesus as an infant. And Brosnan gives animated life to Pontius Pilate, who ultimately ordered the crucifixion of Jesus. The triumvirate of villainous voices further enhances the A-list cast behind the faith-based animated film, which also includes Academy Award & Emmy Award winners Kenneth Branagh (Belfast) and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Golden Globe...

Science fiction and fantasy have inspired dozens of great television scores through the years, from “Battlestar Galactica” to “Game of Thrones.” Three more streaming series continued that tradition this season: “Silo,” “Fallout” and “3 Body Problem.”
Atli Örvarsson’s music for “Silo,” the Apple TV+ dystopian drama set in a bleak future where everyone lives in underground silos, was initially inspired by the setting. “It’s a mechanized world,” he says. “The technology you see is very, very old; the computers look like they’re from the ’80s, so there was always this idea that even the electronic sounds should be primitive, not slick.”
So he relied on Korg and Moog synthesizers from earlier eras, along with an unusual keyboard: the magnetic resonator piano, which uses electromagnets to create unusual sounds from the strings inside the instrument. “There’s a steampunk feel to the design of the show, and this is the ultimate steampunk instrument,...

Martin Scorsese is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers in Hollywood, and even at the age of 81 is churning out pieces of art. The filmmaker last helmed the crime-Western Killers of the Flower Moon, and is already gearing up for his next project. He remains one of the few individual voices still making films today.
Scorsese’s statements about cinema and the way superhero films were taking over the medium had drawn a lot of flack from fans. The director’s comparison of Marvel movies to theme parks sparked outrage as well as a popular meme template. However, even he would agree to one scene from Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel as cinema.

Martin Scorsese’s war with Marvel seems to be over as filmmaker George Lucas recently revealed that the director might have eased his opinions about the MCU. The Departed filmmaker came under fire back in 2019 when he compared Marvel with theme park rides and said that they were not cinema, sparking controversy and a bunch of memes.
While the filmmaker was commenting on the lack of originality in Hollywood and how the only films getting made were superhero films, many fans took issue with him insulting their beloved franchise. However, the director seemed to have calmed down about the issue, according to George Lucas.

One of the biggest 3 Body Problem mysteries since the show ended has been: What did Netflix’s renewal announcement mean, exactly?
During the streamer’s upfront presentation last week, Netflix promised “additional episodes” of the acclaimed sci-fi drama to “finish the story.”
Of course, “additional episodes” could mean anything from two episodes to five seasons and, naturally, many fans worried that the ultimate answer would be too close to the former for comfort.
But showrunners David Benioff, Dan Weiss and Alexander Woo assure things are going to be just fine (for the show, at least, if not for their ensemble drama’s characters facing an alien invasion). While the trio didn’t reveal the exact number of episodes in their new deal, they emphasized it was for “seasons” — plural — and that the number of hours aligns with their original plan to adapt author Liu Cixin’s two remaining novels in his Hugo-winning trilogy.

Three time Oscar-nominated scribe John Logan is adapting National Book Award-winning author Cormac McCarthy’s novel Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West for the big screen for New Regency.
John Hillcoat, who previously adapted McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Road, will direct and produce along with Keith Redmon for New Regency.
The sprawling novel is widely considered one of the greatest works of American literature. Published in 1985, Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West is an epic tale of the violence and depravity that attended America’s westward expansion which brilliantly subverts the conventions of the Western novel and the mythology of the Wild West. Based on historical events that took place on the Texas-Mexico border in the 1850s, it traces the fortunes of a 14-year-old Tennesseean who stumbles into a nightmarish world where Indians are being murdered and the market for their scalps is thriving.

Netflix's "3 Body Problem" adaptation, which I reviewed for /Film here, is a genre-bender in the truest sense of the phrase. Based on Chinese author Liu Cixin's seminal novel of the same name, the series takes its cues from hard sci-fi, horror, and even bursts of fantasy while telling a sweeping and genuinely epic story about humanity's first contact with aliens. The live-action series isn't the first attempt to bring the Hugo-award-winning book to the small screen, as China's own uber-faithful "Three-Body" beat Netflix to the punch a few years ago. But as much as hardcore fans might enjoy pitting the two adaptations against one another, even that manufactured rivalry is nothing compared to the behind-the-scenes drama that ultimately led to "Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss gaining the rights to put their own spin on the material.

The forthcoming Michael Jackson biopic has been slammed by the maker of the documentary Leaving Neverland, with Dan Reed calling the movie’s script “a complete whitewash.”
Reed, whose 2019 film featured claims by Wade Robson and James Safechuck that Jackson had abused them as children, told The Times of London he had seen a draft script of the biopic, due for release next year. He said:
“It’s an out-and-out attempt to completely rewrite the allegations and dismiss them out of hand, and contains complete lies. You never even see him alone with any boys, when it is a matter of fact that he shared his bed with small children for many years.”
The biopic has drawn a pedigree team in director Antoine Fuqua, who made Training Day, and writer John Logan, Oscar-nominated for Gladiator, The Aviator and Hugo.
Oscar-nominated Colman Domingo is playing Jackson’s abusive father, Joe, while Miles Teller will play John Branca, Jackson’s manager.
The newspaper adds that music sales data suggests that Jackson’s appeal is growing again after his star waned prior to his death in 2009. It cites Sony’s confirmation last month that it will acquire half of Jackson’s catalog in a deal that valued his assets at $1.2 billion — the largest transaction for a single musician’s work. And Billboard reports that consumption of Jackson’s music worldwide grew last year by more than 38 per cent to 6.5 billion on-demand streams.
The musical Mj, telling the story of the star’s life and using his music, has also arrived in London, fresh from success on Broadway, with German and Australian tour dates also scheduled. The musical makes no mention of the abuse allegations that Jackson faced.

The psychodrama of the Oscars and Martin Scorsese was seemingly pierced when “The Departed” won four Oscars in 2007, including for his one and only time for Best Director and his only film to win Best Picture.
Two years before, “The Aviator” won five, and five years later, “Hugo” won five. All signs that the drought was over.
The case for the glass being half-empty, though, remains strong after Sunday night’s Academy Awards. With the 0-10 shutout for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” all four of his last narrative films since “Hugo” have received 26 nominations and zero wins.
And he now holds the distinction of having three films with no wins and 10 nominations (“Gangs of New York” and “The Irishman” also), just below the record of 0-11 held by “The Color Purple” and “The Turning Point.”
He personally now has one win out of 16 personal nominations — including 10 for Best Director,...

The Oscars 2024 were full of surprises and had all the nominees as well as non-nominees constantly at the edge of their seats. However, throughout all the people who were in utter excitement and awe of everyone who won, Martin Scorsese was not involved.
Martin Scorsese in Hugo
If anything, the filmmaker seemed like he couldn’t care less about the program and had only graced the event out of formality. And after watching him and noticing that he was one of the only ones as uninterested in the ceremony as him, fans couldn’t help but wonder just how robbed the legendary director was!
Martin Scorsese Seemed Like He Couldn’t Care Less About The Oscars
At the recently held ceremony for the 96th Academy Awards, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, even those who were left behind in the nomination stage. But the renowned Martin Scorsese wasn’t one of them.

The 2024 Oscar nominees for Best Director are Jonathan Glazer (“The Zone of Interest”), Yorgos Lanthimos (“Poor Things”), Christopher Nolan (“Oppenheimer”), Martin Scorsese (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), and Justine Triet (“Anatomy of a Fall”). Our odds currently show that Nolan (3/1) is most likely to win, followed in order by Lanthimos (4/1), Glazer (9/2), Triet (9/2), and Scorsese (9/2).
Three of these five filmmakers have been nominated at least once before, with Scorsese standing out as the only previous victor in the group. Now on his 10th bid (only two behind category record holder William Wyler), he initially triumphed on his sixth for “The Departed” (2007), which is also the only Best Picture winner in his filmography. He earned his remaining notices for “Raging Bull” (1981), “The Last Temptation of Christ” (1989), “Goodfellas” (1991), “Gangs of New York” (2003), “The Aviator” (2005), “Hugo” (2012), “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2014), and “The Irishman” (2020).
