Kangana had told in 2019 there would be two parts of the movie. One will focus on 1965 to 1990 journey of Jayalalilthaa madam. The next second film will focus on journey from 1991 to 2016.

This film marks the reunion of director A.L. Vijay and his usual music composer, G. V. Prakash Kumar, after a period of 6 years. Their last film together was Idhu Enna Maayam (2015).
The cast includes three National Award winners: Kangana Ranaut, Samuthirakani, and Thambi Ramaiah.
