Tusshar Kapoor had originally planned to sign Ajay Devgan for the film. This was back in 2016.

At one point, the film was shelved. The reason being debutant director Raghavendra Lawrence opted out of the film after the first look was released with poster of Akshay Kumar. He felt that being a film director it was done without his consent and he felt sidelined.
Film was to have solo release on Eid 2020.After Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt's Inshallah Allah got shelved.But Salman Khan soon announced his next project Radhe for Eid release.
The makers are releasing this movie directly on Disney+Hotstar due to the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide, thus skipping the theatrical release.
