She is not perfect. Her actions are not based on certain logical background. The character development is flawed. Yet, there is something which keeps me glued to the screen, wanting for more. I think that's where Jyothika comes in.
Some bold punch lines along with an 'unexpected' cliché action block were certainly worth to watch once. But it could've been much more, considering the capabilities of Jyothika.
Raatchasi = Vijayashanti + Samudrakani

The movie was a fun packed entertainer. A movie with potential impact on lives of kids and how to treat them. Respecting their efforts. Need for change. Taking charge.

The movie talks about public education system in India, which describes the condition of Government schools and their inefficiencies. A strong minded head mistress brings changes to school fighting the odds. This movie spreads positiveness in its simplest way. Nothing fancy, not commercial and not romantic. But this movie is good to watch.

In India we have en number of schools there is a huge difference between the students in private and government schools. This movie where we see the protagonist paving a right and legal way of running a Government school in a village. Jyotika rightly chosen by the director for this role has done justice to the character. There is one good point kept in front of us to think "when Temples, Church and Mosques are funded by rich, there people never have a second opinion for the money spend for God". Why can't we do it for a school in our city or village which actually needs help. The current government is doing nothing but further widening the gap between the rich and the poor. Every kid deserves a good education. Hats off to the debut Director Sy Gowthamraj who took this opportunity to convey a sincere message to the Teachers of government schools.

Note: This is more of a critique rather than a review.
This is one of those those soap opera style, uber dramatized stories that makes it kind of campy - but they were able to do it in a fun and refreshing way, because you usually don't see it apply to this setting.
The setting is a public school which lacks funds, or teachers who put in effort, and the students are neglected and perform poorly.
A new headmistress (or Head Master as they call her) comes and shakes things up in a very bad*** way that's very fun to watch. She makes enemies with the Assistant Head Master, a local political, and a guy who runs an expensive private school in the area.
I do have a couple of gripes with the movie. On one hand, while it is great that she has the student's best interests at heart, she is known to be really hard on the teachers, and way too friendly with the students, even allowing them to call her by her first name and getting a little too familiar with them. You can't encourage students to treat you like a friend and expect them to respect your authority (speaking as an authority). But being strict with students also doesn't mean you are not looking out for their best interest.
While I appreciate the film criticizes the complacence of the government school teachers who only collect a salary and coast on their jobs due to lack of oversight, the film places the blame squarely on the teachers. The film never asks - but are these teachers paid enough? They are compared to private school teachers several times - but it never brings up the wage disparity.
In fact, the film puts too much emphasis on individual responsibility. The headmistress convinces the townsfolk and alumni to make donations to raise funds for the school - she convinces them it is their duty. The movie places the responsibility of good education squarely on the shoulders of the teachers (and never questions those who are responsible for paying the teachers) and of the upkeep on the school on the community (and not the authorities who are supposed to fund it).
Basically the movie thinks it's looking out for the little guy, but it makes the mistake of thinking the students are the only little guys in the pictures.
But I did have a good time with it. And would like more of this please.

Such a great movie, very inspiring and energetic. Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". Teachers are the second part of God who deserve their capacity and performance..Hats off to the worlds all the teachers.
I feel like thanking the Producer, Director and Actors for this movie. I have seen twice in a single day. It's a very clear motivated movie for those who are working for Government Schools to enhance their teaching skills reaching to students. #Salute
If u r reading to find out about this movie... Believe me its worth watching... U will love it..

Raatchasi Movie Review:
Story of a rural Government school headmistress, who saves the school from its decline and reforms the same by handling the hindrances from private school owners, Govt. Officials, politicians and even her colleagues.
Truly it's a great film anyone must watch this film.
A brave women who changed a school. Not only school but also the state governmential issues. Student who leave out the education. Then she come back to school those students.
Main bar bar kehta Hoon Ratchasi (Madam Geeta Rani Hindi Dubbed from The Ratchasi Tamil) is Great Movie.
I am so pleased to see this movie. This story is awesome.
Very Enjoyable Film 👌

Good Movie. Everybody acted very well in the movie. Songs and BGM in the movie were not good. The movie had many messages in the movie. The movie was not so interesting. The movie bored a lot. This movie is a another version of "Saattai" but the movie had many good messages about studies. Good Movie.

Completely based upon the current education system, it was very well made with a good storyline, screenplay, dialogues, twists, action, emotion.
Jyothika has been coming around very well with content-based movies.
Although a better screenplay & music could've elevated the movie to a different level.
I watched this movie in hindi.i inspired from it and it is the first time when I rated a movie, story, screenplay, acting is very good a must watch movie for all government teachers and headmasters

Only reason I am giving 1is
Raatchasi (2019), the actress who spoke disparagingly about the Tanjore temple, played the lead role of a principal in a government school.

South industry's produced this type of fine movie . I think govt. Should aend a copy of this movie in every government schools.
This is a Great south movie i see. Madam getarani is a powerfull character in this movie. She acts so well. Overall super movie for all ages people.....
Tamil cinema has seen a lot of movies in this genre. But raatchasi is the master piece in this. The burning desire of every sincere teacher and govt school children is shown properly. If these rules are made sure the revolution happens in education industry. Screen play is adorable.

Good film related to the educational system available at present in Tamil Nadu. Everyone knew the story and the way it was told is very special.
Education - The need of developing knowledge through education - Education turned into Business - Teacher's service - The need of good service - Today's political stance that affects education - Environment, Social concern - Public school, Private school position - Diversity of parents, teachers, students (Discipline, Action, Attitude, negligence, corruption, contradiction, clarity, thoughts), a specialized education, visionary thinking, altogether it was specially designed exactly and perfectly in the screenplay by the director Mr.Gautham Raj for this story. Great appreciation and Best wishes for him.
Suriya sir - Acting monster Jo mam - Acting monsteress - Both proved well
Jo mam performed naturally realistic for that strong character, Geetha Rani. If the presence of Rowdyism, Heroism, Artificial, then it would spoil that Geetha Rani character. I understood that she paid an attention to the acting by knowing the importance of that strongest character. The role of the Geetha Rani is a good example of how to be a good headmaster/mistress with proper training and leadership quality.
Royal Salute for Jo Mam!
Sean Roldan's music gave more strength to the movie. All the other artists and technicians were excellent. Congratulations and good wishes to all in this Raatchasi Crew.
This is a very good quality film that should be seen by everyone (headmasters/mistress, teachers, parents and students etc) in this society. At least see this movie and start to change. Good society will blossom in the reality.
