I nearly stopped watching The Outpost for good after 20 minutes of S1E1. It was so bad and I couldn't figure out how this show had lasted four seasons. I read some reviews here on IMDb that admitted it started poorly but also said if you give this show time it will pay off.
I see now why reviewers said that because it's true. Nearly every aspect of the show from writing to acting to most definitely production value improved dramatically over three seasons.
It still has it's flaws and probably should have stuck with 10 episodes instead of 13 per season, but overall I've enjoyed seeing the growth of the show and this episode was a quality finale for season 3.
Only 1 season to go as I watch this in 2024 so I'll enjoy the rest while it lasts. Fantasy is my favorite genre but there is such a dearth of legit fantasy shows, probably due to the perceived high cost of production. I wish some other production companies would take a note from The Outpost on how to try something on a budget and build up to quality over time without having to spend GoT $20 million per episode to do it.
