We get this question or variations of it a lot... Rip Off, Remake, Sequel??? Our thoughts on this are below, If I get any similar questions I will add them on below:
Black Devil Doll From Hell is one of the many inspirations for our film. It is not an official remake or sequel. If anything it is a homage to BDDFH, and we are proud to say so. Yes, both dolls are Black, the titles are similar, and both films feature some sex, but thats the end of the similarities. The script, plot, story, dialog, characters in our film are original and do not have anything in common with Black Devil Doll From Hell. I think our trailer should make it pretty clear that our film is an entirely different beast than BDDFH -Black Devil Doll Crew
Part 2:
So a friend sent me over a link to the horordvds.com message board, where they are on the "your film is a rip off" kick... A few things here... I'm happy people are talking about our film, good or bad, makes no difference to me. There is no such thing as bad publicity. Most indie films never find an audience, our film isn't even out yet and we already have an audience, an audience that grows every day. Most indie productions pray for the kind of exposure we are getting...
If people want to call our film a rip off, that is cool with me. I'm a fan of knockoffs, I grew up watching and collecting them, some of my favorite genre films are knock offs. Especially knock offs that took the basic ideas/themes and expanded upon them, taking them to new levels. Doing something different with the material. Knockoffs are fun, plain and simple. The creators of Abby took the Exorcist and added Blaxploitation angle to it and created a classic. And what about all the fun Italian Exorcist knockoffs? Or the entertaining Jaws knockoffs? Where would the horror genre be without Roger Corman? His Forbidden World is one of the best Alien knockoffs out there, and I'll take his Carnosaur any day over Jurassic Park.
We are fan's of Chester Turner's BDDFH. We were inspired too take his basic idea of a possessed Black Doll to another level. A Killer Doll film with a 70's Blaxploitation, Exploitation, Sexploitation Grindhouse vibe. We also hired an amazing band, Bamboo Gods, to create and original 70s style score. The end result is an entertaining and inspired B Grindhouse style film. Its part Killer Doll, part Dolemite, and part Faster Pussycat. Its a blast. So while our film is admittedly not wholly original, its a fresh take on the killer doll film and a first to combine all these genres.
But the bottom line is, its ONLY A MOVIE. And a B Movie at that. Its supposed to be fun, sick, entertaining, and exploitive. Some people need to relax a bit.

No it is not a porno. Its unrated or NC-17 equivalent. There is no penetration on camera but the film is loaded with nudity, sex, gore and violence. It is intended for adults only. -Black Devil Doll Crew
