As pithy summations for TV series go, that line from the new Peacock comedy Laid is pretty tough to beat. The series, created by Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna, and starring Stephanie Hsu and Zosia Mamet, has a particularly high-concept premise: Ruby (Hsu), who has compiled a long and messy sexual history without ever finding a relationship that works, discovers that everyone she has ever slept with is dying. Becky Lynch has joined Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which adds a global WWE superstar to its already stacked cast. Executive produced by co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is currently filming in Toronto. With a cast led by Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter and Academy Award-nominee Paul Giamatti, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has already received an early season 2 renewal on Paramount+.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is set in the late 32nd century after the end of Star Trek: Discovery. Reopened after a century following the galactic calamity of The Burn, Starfleet Academy welcomes a new and diverse class of Starfleet hopefuls, under the guidance of Holly Hunter's Captain, who is also Starfleet Academy's Chancellor. However, a new threat to the United Federation of Planets emerges, likely tied to Paul Giamatti's recurring villain. Becky Lynch plays one of the Starfleet Officers potentially encountering this new enemy.

The American education system has a rather regrettable take on sex-ed: “If you have sex you will die.” The trope has been mined for comedy before, but few shows take the premise as seriously as Laid. The romantic comedy series starring Stephanie Hsu lands on Peacock this week with its darkly funny premise. Hsu gets another nuanced and exciting role to continue her ascent. Meanwhile, co-star Zosia Mamet delivers her funniest performance since Girls. Together, they lift the comedy series thanks to their chemistry and zany performances.

The principals of Seven Bucks Productions –Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia – are between The Rock and a hard place.
The 12-year-old film and TV shop was one of the earliest prototypes for a modern production company built around a megastar. These were businesses created to give more control and equity to figures like Johnson and his contemporaries. But as Hollywood struggles with consolidation and a cash crunch, scaling past the big name behind the brand may be essential for their long-term survival.
Some celebrity-backed companies have chosen to move into ancillary businesses beyond the movies and shows that made an actor an A-lister. Witherspoon, for instance, has become more consequential to book publishing than anyone might have predicted when Hello Sunshine launched. And Robbie and her partners at LuckyChap haven’t just made projects for the “Barbie” actress. Guided by great taste, they’ve partnered with cutting-edge creatives...

Earlier this year, The Wrap ran a story alleging that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's behaviour on the set of Red One had driven the movie's budget up to a whopping $250 million.
That came as a result of his frequent tardiness, with insiders claiming he'd frequently show up as much as eight hours late on some days.
In a new GQ profile, Johnson was asked about his supposed lateness and said, "Yeah, that happens. But not that amount, by the way. That was a bananas amount. That’s crazy. Ridiculous."
As for the reports he pees in bottles on set to save time and avoid using the public restroom, Johnson admitted, "Yeah. That happens...I’ve said a thousand times: ‘Hey, I’m here. Come and ask me. And I’ll tell you the truth.'"

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is one of the best teen movies of all time, but it also (perhaps purposely) tells its story from a very privileged point-of-view. I adore the John Hughes classic, yet the last few times I've watched it, I've been struck by how terribly Ferris (Matthew Broderick) treats the customer service workers he meets throughout the film. It's all a part of his schtick; to craft the perfect day off, he has to get access to all sorts of fun stuff, and the quickest way to do that is by putting on a haughty, rich-white guy persona that he probably learned from his dad.
It may be blasphemous to even consider adding a new layer to a perfect Hughes-made story, but if someone's going to do it, it may as well be a filmmaker who's interested in approaching the material from a truly fresh angle. Enter: "Sam and Victor's Day Off,...

Many athletes turn to acting, whether through television advertisements and commercials like Coach Prime, Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Eli Manning, and Kevin Durant.
Other athletes like Travis Kelce, Pat McAfee, Deion Sanders (Prime), and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. do podcasts to attract a following.
Some celebrities do one-shot cameos, like Michael Jordan and LeBron James in Space Jam, Uncle Drew starring NBA star Kyrie Irving, Airplane! with Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and Blue Chips...

Baldness is an inevitable aspect of aging for many men, or at least a result of their genetic makeup. However, going bald does not imply losing one’s attractive appearance. For example, Dwayne Johnson, 51, is a perfect example of how going ‘bald’ is just another style. Did we forget to mention his strong, muscle-bound physics, which is a sight to behold for anyone?
Well, his avid admirers are likely to picture him as the bald, ripped guy whom we all adore. But the Baywatch star did not always have such massive, superhuman-like muscles. Indeed, he was just one of us, regular folks, with no muscular pecs or curved arms, or, we can say, just “skinny” Rock.

A recently unearthed throwback picture of a young Johnson with a head full of hair caused everyone to do a double-take.

Young Rock season 4 could be revived after its NBC cancellation, according to executive consultant Harvey Wippleman. The Young Rock season 3 finale hints at Johnson's beginnings as a movie star and offers a heartfelt goodbye. Despite his success as a WWE superstar, there is still much more to Johnson's story as he transitions into acting.
Young Rock season 4 gets a surprising update following its NBC cancellation. Co-created by Jeff Chiang and Nahnatchka Khan with Dwayne Johnson serving as an on-screen narrator and looking back on his early years, the sitcom split Johnson's life into three main periods. Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant, and Uli Latukefu played the titular role, with season 3 focusing on Johnson's beginnings as a WWE superstar. The show also starred Stacey Leilua, Joseph Lee Anderson, and Ana Tuisila.
Now, after NBC cancelled Young Rock in June of this year, executive consultant Harvey Wippleman told Developmentally Speaking (via Comicbook.com) about a potential revival.

Writer Jen D’Angelo got her start working on episodes of shows Workaholics, Cougar Town, and Young Rock, and now she’s on a streak of successfully getting her feature scripts brought to the screen. She wrote the long-awaited sequel Hocus Pocus 2, the time travel slasher Totally Killer, and the newly released comedy Quiz Lady – and next on her to-do list is Hocus Pocus 3. D’Angelo has previously teased that the new sequel could bring Hannah Waddingham back as her Hocus Pocus 2 character The Witch Mother, and during an interview with Collider she also gave a hint as to what could bring the Sanderson Sisters back into action, seeking revenge against Salem.
D’Angelo said, “I have my theories about what we could see (in Hocus Pocus 3), and what things mean and where we could take these characters. It’s interesting to be like, ‘Now we have even...
