Someone Is Lying

I was underwhelmed by the first episode of I May Destroy You. Given that it is based on Michaela Coel's own experiences. I thought it was worth sticking with.

The second episode deals with the incoherence Arabella has the morning after. A cut on her forehead and some hazy memories with one recurring vision.

Arabella's friend Terry asks how can Arabella not know how she damaged her phone for example.

Her friend Simon who was with her acts coy as to what happened the night before. Maybe he failed to protect her. Simon's friend Alissa has an altercation with Arabella. Alissa initially tells her that she also things that her own drink was spiked.

It does lead Arabella to talk to the police and the discomfort Arabella has trying to recall events.

As this is a series of half an hour long dramas. The jumbled nature might be deliberate to make the audience feel incoherent, to share with Arabella's confusion and that people might not be being truthful.

I have still not taken to the series yet. It is uncomfortable and I felt the best think to do is watch a couple of episodes in one go to get an idea of where it is going.
