“My Old Ass” writer and director Megan Park has landed a series order at Amazon Prime Video for the drama “Sterling Point,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Exact plot details are being kept under wraps, but “Sterling Point” is described as a YA drama. Park is the creator of the series and will also direct, executive produce, and serve as co-showrunner.

YA genre veterans Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will also executive produce and co-showrun under their Fake Empire banner. LuckyChap, which produced “My Old Ass,” will executive produce under its first-look TV deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Amazon MGM Studios acquired the distribution rights to “My Old Ass” out of the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and gave the film a limited theatrical release before releasing it on Prime Video.

Aubrey Plaza's new dramedy with a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score tops a movies streaming chart. Starting her career in improv and sketch comedy, Plaza rose to prominence on Parks and Recreation as the sarcastic and deadpan April Ludgate, establishing her distinct comedic style. Then, of course, the next day, she meets Chad and the advice doesn’t seem as unbelievable as it did just one day earlier.

Life is, so often, not at all like the movies. It’s not even like TV. There was no lightbulb moment, no ah-ha! that made actress Megan Park decide to move behind the camera for the next creative and professional chapter of her life. In fact, Megan Park’s hilarious, vibrant, and overall heart-rendering tale is far from it. There are moments of familial authenticity that ring true throughout the picture. Nothing is more genuine than an older version of yourself counseling your youthful exuberance about how time is fleeting.

Those are the moments that My Old Ass depicts you remember and where you most likely hold your regret.

While Beetlejuice 2 may have been Jenna Ortega's biggest 2024 release, the actress has several other upcoming movies and TV shows in the works. Ortega got her acting start in commercials before making the jump to TV in 2012 with small roles. In just two years, she started to acquire more prominent roles in shows like Rake and Jane the Virgin. By then, Ortega was also appearing in movies. Following her stint on the Disney Channel's Stuck in the Middle, Ortega's movie career grew with roles in movies like The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Yes Day, and The Fallout.

While Ortega appeared in You season 2 and voiced a character in Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, her career took off in 2022 with the releases of Scream and Wednesday. Some of Ortega's other best horror movies came in the few years that followed, with a sequel to the slasher franchise Scream VI and Ti West's X.

In an interview on The New York Times‘ “The Interview” podcast, the 21-year-old actress shared that she quit X, formerly Twitter, after being bombarded with fake pornographic pictures of herself, created using AI technology.

“Did I like being 14 and making a Twitter account because I was supposed to and seeing dirty edited content of me as a child?” Ortega revealed. “No. It’s terrifying. It’s corrupt. It’s wrong. It’s disgusting.”

From Vicky Jewson, who is directing from a script by Kate Freund, Ballerina Overdrive follows a troupe of ballerinas who find themselves fighting for survival as they attempt to escape from a remote inn after their bus breaks down on the way to a dance competition.

As Deadline revealed exclusively last year, Lana Condor, Iris Apatow and Millicent Simmonds also star. Previously attached stars Lena Headey, Yara Shahidi and Isabela Merced have since departed the project. Jenny Jue cast the film, which is currently in production in Budapest.

Kelly McCormick and David Leitch produce through their 87North banner with Bill Bindley and Mike Karz for Gulfstream Pictures alongside Piers Tempest. Gulfstream Pictures is fully financing.
