Daniel Brühl, Riccardo Scamarcio, Volker Bruch to Star in Stefano Mordini Motorsport Feature ‘2 Win’
Daniel Brühl (“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”), Riccardo Scamarcio (“John Wick 2”) and Volker Bruch (“Babylon Berlin”) are set to star in motorsport thriller “2 Win.”
Directed by Stefano Mordini (“The Players”), the film is inspired by true events that occurred during the fierce rivalry between Germany (Audi) and Italy (Lancia) at the 1983 Rally World Championships.
HanWay Films is handling worldwide sales, which will kick off at Cannes.
“It’s a real David vs. Goliath story where Italian flare, cheek and imagination battle against the engineering prowess and perfection of the Germans in a race to the finish,” reads the logline.
In the film, Brühl will play Roland Gumpert who is competing with Cesare Fiorio (Scamarcio) to win the 1983 Rally World Championships. Fiorio is almost certain to lose but thanks to ingenuity and cunning he rises to the challenge, partly thanks to his unusual team including a team doctor and...

Naples-set young adult series “The Sea Beyond,” which depicts the world of a juvenile jail in the crime-ridden Italian city, is scoring a slew of international sales prompted by its phenomenal ratings on pubcaster Rai.
Germany’s Beta Film, which is selling the show about kids behind bars produced by Rome-based Picomedia and Rai Fiction, has inked deals with WarnerMedia Latin America for HBO Max, Sweden’s free-to-air channel TV4, cabler Hot for Israel, and streamer Blu TV in Turkey.
The deals mark a rare case of an Italian young adult series traveling abroad.
Set in a youth detention center overlooking the bay of Naples, “The Sea Beyond” depicts a world populated by kids apparently without hope, “given that they mostly belong to [the Camorra] organized crime syndicate that Naples is known for,” said Picomedia chief Roberto Sessa, who added that the show also has “all the color and vitality of that city.

Production of TV dramas is back on track in Italy after a pandemic-prompted pause just as several hot new Italian shows, such as Luca Guadagnino’s “We Are Who We Are,” are hitting international screens and markets.
Pay-tv platform Sky Italia, which partnered with HBO on Guadagnino’s “We Are Who We Are,” has a slew of shows in various stages, including two very different ancient Rome skeins. One is “Romulus,” the mythical tale of Rome’s founding by twins Romulus and Remus — which was shot in archaic Latin — that will air in Italy in November; ITV Studios is selling it internationally.
The ancient Rome-set series is “Domina,” looking at Roman history from a female prism. Drama stars Kasia Smutniak (“Devils”) as Livia Drusilla, the wife of Emperor Augustus, played by Liam Cunningham (“Game of Thrones”). “Domina” had shut down production in early March but resumed in July and recently wrapped.

Paramount Pictures International has signed a landmark distribution partnership with Italy’s leading independent distribution company Eagle Pictures. Under the deal, Eagle Pictures will release Paramount titles in the country starting in March with John Krasinski’s anticipated horror film “A Quiet Place 2.”
Since 2017, Paramount Pictures has had its films released by Fox in Italy, and prior to that, by Universal. Following the Disney/Fox merger, however, the U.S. studio has been searching for another solid partner among independent distributors in the region.
A number of distribution outfits were considered, including Medusa, Rai, Leone, Notorious and Lucky Red, according to an industry insider.
The timing is auspicious for Eagles Pictures, which has had a banner year. The outfit was Italy’s top distribution company, and the only local player ranking in the B.O.’s top 10, leading with “Green Book.” Eagle was also the only Italian banner to...

Valiant Comics' signature super-soldier, Bloodshot, is coming to the big screen, played by Vin Diesel.
Bloodshot is set to arrive in 2020 as the first feature film adaptation of Valiant Comics, brandishing a headliner in Vin Diesel, who stars as the eponymous nanite-powered super-soldier.
Sony Pictures partnered with the publisher with clear designs for Bloodshot to launch a Valiant Cinematic Universe alongside film projects such as Harbinger and Archer & Armstrong as well as a Quantum & Woody TV series (with the Russo Bros. involved). However, the studio’s dream of harvesting its own shared continuity became mired in doubt back in September after Paramount acquired the rights to Harbinger, a crucial title filled with key characters and concepts in the Valiant lineup, analogous to Marvel’s X-Men IP.
Dave Wilson directed Bloodshot, transitioning from work as a visual effects artist on Avengers: Age of Ultron and an array of video games.

After Jannat, a lot was riding on this horror flick by Mohit Suri since a second straight success was much required for Emraan to completely establish himself in the top league. And if one starts counting the music videos that have come out of these films, it could make for a countdown album.

However, the fact is that two young guys, whose films were on the verge of clashing with each other, now would have lesser competition in weeks to come. That's because Raaz - The Mystery Continues and Aloo Chaat, which were earlier said to be coming together on the same day i.e. 23rd January, would now be spaced out. While Raaz - The Mystery Continues is sticking to it's original release date, the makers of Aloo Chaat have wisely moved their film's release to the month of February. Though the final date is yet to be closed on, there are good chances of this Aftab Shivdasani & Aamna Shariff film to be releasing on 6th February.

While the formal release of the album is still a few days away, we had an exclusive hear at the songs and were left stunned with at least a couple of them, especially 'Maahi' and 'Soniye' that are expected to add on to list of chartbusters that Emraan Hashmi has been accumulating ever since he first hit the Bollywood scene with Footpath. However, even as all his films have successively featured at least a chartbuster song or two, Emraan is now super positive that Rtmc is going to out do each of these previous albums. Even though this pretty much sounds like a tall claim considering the fact that early this year,...

Download image as wallpaper Among the many newcomers who made a lasting impression this year (2008) is the tall and sexy actress Sonal Chauhan. The babe debuted opposite Emraan Hashmi in Mukesh Bhatt's Jannat and the movie even went on to become a Superhit, yet Sonal hasn't been seen or heard of much since then. Now, all Sonal fans would get to see their favorite actress in a brand new avatar. Sonal would be seen sharing the stage and performing alongside internationally acclaimed rockstar Bryan Adams at a gala event in January next year. The gig has been organized by a leading jewellery company and this is the first time a mainstream Bollywood actress would be seen performing alongside a top international rockstar. Needless to say, Sonal is all pumped up and excited at the thought of sharing the stage with someone like Bryan Adams who has a huge fan following across the world.

New Delhi -- Bollywood lost about $37.5 million in the first half of 2008, as most films released here sold fewer tickets than expected, a leading business daily reported here Monday.
A survey published by the Economic Times of India also showed ticket receipts of only $75 million for the 47 Hindi-language films released from January through June, well below industry expectations.
Bollywood, the most famous segment of India's vast movie industry, does not have an independent source for boxoffice data.
"It's been a bad year (in that) major films have just tanked," film critic and industry analyst Rajeev Masand told The Hollywood Reporter.
The few successes in the first half of the year included Utv's historical epic "Jodhaa Akbar," which collected $30 million worldwide on the way to recovering its $10 million budget; the action-packed "Race" from the Abbas-Mastan directing duo; and "Jannat" (Heaven), Kunal Deshmukh's look at illegal betting in cricket.
Bollywood's six-month report card puts pressure on the industry to perform in the second half of the year.
"While there have been success stories, the industry is desperate for a breakthrough hit," Masand said.
Hopes were high for the star-studded "Tashan" (Attitude) by veteran banner Yash Raj Films. However, the film was panned by the critics and has battled a boycott by multiplex owners.
Similarly, the early July release of the big budget sci-fi romance "Love Story 2050" by Adlabs Films -- starring actress Priyanka Chopra and newcomer Harman Baweja -- drew negative reviews.
Masand, a critic for the CNN-ibn channel, predicted "Love Story," too, "may deliver below expectations," but added that there may be hope coming from other quarters.
"This year is special because two Hollywood studios -- Disney and Warner -- will bow their productions here," Masand said.
Expected this autumn are both "Roadside Romeo," Disney's animated co-production with Yash Raj, voiced by local star Saif Ali Khan and actress Kareena Kapoor; and Warner Bros.' co-production with veteran filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, "Chandni Chowk to China" (Made in China), starring Akshay Kumar.
As big films in India are traditionally slated for the festive season beginning in October, there is still a chance the year-end boxoffice could achieve the 13% annual growth recently forecast by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Ficci and PwC reported that India's overall film industry -- Bollywood plus the cinema of the nation's multiple other dialect groups -- tallied 2007 boxoffice receipts of $1.78 billion.
