The Dexter prequel series Dexter: Original Sin features a slate of new actors playing familiar characters from the original series. Developed by New Blood creator Clyde Phillips, the prequel series chronicles a post-college Dexter as he embraces his "dark passenger" through the guidance and teachings of his adopted father, Harry. Dexter implements Harry's code to satisfy his violent urges while making sure never to get caught. The original Dexter featured a variety of flashbacks of Dexter's upbringing with Harry and the formation of the code, which the prequel expands on.

Let’s start here: watching Bobby Cannavale and Robert De Niro argue on a New York City street while cars angrily beep their horns is electric. Truly exhilarating to watch. Likewise, watching the great Rose Byrne manage multiple emotions on her face is tantamount to listening to Yo-Yo Ma play cello. Ezra, written by Tony Spiridakis and directed by Tony Goldwyn, tells the story of a separated couple’s attempt to raise their autistic son. Max (Cannavale) is a struggling stand-up comedian; his ex, Jenna (Rose Byrne), is trying to keep it all together and not doing well. Their son, Ezra (William A. Fitzgerald), is causing disturbances at his school. Soon he’s forced to go to a specialized school with other “special” kids. Max cannot allow this; neither can his temper. It’s all for Jenna and her lawyer boyfriend (Goldwyn) to do to keep Max from beating up the whole world.

In the world of stealth action games, few series have garnered as much respect and admiration as Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. The series protagonist Sam Fisher has become the standard for many games in the same genre. The series has many games under it and all have them evolved with time, experimenting with its core mechanics to varying degrees of success.
But not all Splinter Cell games are made equally. Some have been praised for their innovation of the stealth genre’s roots, while others have been critiqued for straying too far from what made the series great. The biggest debate among the fans has been if Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is better than Splinter Cell: Blacklist. So, let’s grab the night-vision goggles and rank every Splinter Cell game from worst to best.

CBS’ FBI will have a new person in charge as it heads into a massive three-season renewal.
Rick Eid, who has been showrunner on the series since for all six of its seasons to date, will step down at the end of the season. He’ll remain an executive producer of the show, which comes from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television in association with CBS Studios. A new showrunner will be named later.
Eid is also the showrunner of another Wolf Entertainment series — NBC’s Law & Order — and will remain at the helm as it heads into its 24th season.
“After six years of running two, or more, shows, and CBS now picking up FBI for three more years, this was the perfect time for me to step back and focus my efforts on running Law & Order and developing new projects,” Eid said in a statement. “I’m extremely proud of FBI,...

Documentary fans have a lot to be excited about this month on HBO and Max. April begins with the premiere of The Synanon Fix, a docuseries that follows the rise and fall of the cult-like drug rehabilitation program Synanon. The documentary Brandy Hellville and the Cult of Fast Fashion takes a deep-dive into the controversial “one size fits most” clothing brand Brandy Mellville and the impact of fast fashion on the planet.
An American Bombing: The Road to April 19th looks at the surge of political violence and anti-government sentiment that led to the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing, and the effects still felt nearly 30 years later. HBO is also returning with a second part to their popular docuseries The Jinx, with filmmakers continuing their investigation of Robert Durst.
But if documentaries aren’t your thing, there’s still plenty of popular films hitting Max in April, like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,...

Bobby Cannavale, Robert De Niro and Rose Byrne lead a starry ensemble drama focused on caring for a neurodivergent child in the trailer for Ezra.
Director Tony Goldwyn’s family-focused feature is set to hit theaters May 31 from Bleecker Street after debuting at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Vera Farmiga, Whoopi Goldberg, Rainn Wilson and Goldwyn round out the film’s cast.
Ezra follows Max, a stand-up comic who lives with his father (De Niro) and decides to take his autistic son, Ezra (newcomer William Fitzgerald), on a road trip amid questions about the boy’s future.
“You’re fighting for something,” De Niro says in the trailer. “You might have to suffer consequences, but it’s worth it because you did it.”

Exclusive: Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer is bulking up its Season 3 cast with 4 new actors joining the fold: Merrin Dungey, Allyn Moriyon, John Pirruccello and Philip Anthony-Rodriguez.
They join returning stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, Becki Newton as Lorna, Jazz Raycole as Izzy, Angus Sampson as Cisco and Yaya DaCosta as Andrea Freemann. The recurring cast also includes Neve Campbell, Elliott Gould, Krista Warner, Fiona Rene and Devon Graye.
Dungey will portray Judge Regina Turner, a former public defender who is younger and more progressive than most judges in the district, but whether that’s a benefit to Mickey or not remains to be seen. Moriyon plays Eddie Rojas, a fitness buff who needs a very good lawyer. Luckily, Mickey can help him and then offers him the opportunity of a lifetime. Any developer will tell you that games rarely turn out the way they were first envisioned. Features get cut or don’t work as planned. New tech can mean a game can look or play much better by moving it to new hardware. Sometimes, huge chunks of a game just need to be cut to meet a deadline. These changes are a normal part of the process.
But what’s much less common is when development gets far enough along that a title can be shown publicly, but the final product ends up being much different from what was first shown. These are 15 games that radically changed during development.

Tony Goldwyn is best known as an actor who has starred in films like Ghost (1990) and on TV programs including Scandal (2012-2018). But he has also quietly and consistently built an impressive résumé as a director, with A Walk on the Moon (1999), The Last Kiss (2006), Conviction (2010) and, most recently, Ezra. The dramedy just had its world premiere as a sales title at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it had audiences laughing and crying and has generated raves, especially for the performance of its lead actor, Bobby Cannavale.
Ezra centers on a single father, stand-up comedian Max (Cannavale), who is fiercely protective of his autistic son, Ezra (William Fitzgerald), and winds up taking him on the run rather than allowing him to be sent to a special school and medicated. Updated with statement from WGA East and workers: Spotify is cutting 200 jobs, about 2% of its workforce, in a revamp of its podcast business.
Sahar Elhabashi, VP, Head of Podcast Business, outlined the plans in a blog post.
“We are expanding our partnership efforts with leading podcasters from across the globe with a tailored approach optimized for each show and creator,” the exec explained. “This fundamental pivot from a more uniform proposition will allow us to support the creator community better. However, doing so requires adapting.”

Studiocanal will stage at the London TV Screenings the international premiere of “Spinners,” an eight-part extreme sports action drama set on the mean streets of Cape Town’s Southside, that is not just a series but a sign of an industry zeitgeist.
As the competition for talent grows, there’s a building drive into emerging production hubs beyond the traditional powerhouse territories in Europe led by some of its most powerful players, here France’s Canal+, Studiocanal and Federation Studios, and some of its biggest TV events, such as Series Mania.
Produced by Joachim Landau and Raphaël Rocher at Federation Studios’ Empreinte Digitale, and co-created by Landau, “Spinners” is a co-production of South Africa’s Showmax, Africa’s biggest pan-continental SVOD service available in 65 countries, and Vivendi’s Canal+, rating as both a Showmax and Canal+ Original.

Whoopi Goldberg, Rose Byrne, Vera Farmiga, Rainn Wilson and William Fitzgerald have signed on to join the comedic drama “Inappropriate Behavior.” Bobby Cannavale and Robert De Niro were previously announced as the star and major supporting character, respectively.
Cannavale plays Max Bernal, a late-night comedy writer who tries and fails to parlay his success into a second act as a stand-up comic. After moving in with his father Stan (De Niro), he clashes with his ex-wife Jenna (Byrne) about parenting their young son Ezra (Fitzgerald), who is on the autism spectrum. Tensions reach a boiling point when Max kidnaps Ezra to take him on a cross-country trip, to hilarious and disastrous results.
Tony Goldwyn (“Conviction”) will direct from a script by Tony Spiridakis (“Ash Tuesday”). Spiridakis was inspired by his own son who is on the spectrum, and previously wrote the 2015 short “Inappropriate Behaviors” about an autistic teen traveling across Iowa.

Bobby Cannavale is set to star in a comedy and drama called “Inappropriate Behavior” from “Conviction” director Tony Goldwyn, and Robert De Niro will also feature in the film in a major supporting role.
“Inappropriate Behavior” is a comic drama about the relationship between Max Brandel (Cannavale), a formerly successful late-night comedy writer turned not-so-successful stand-up comic, and his brilliant but complicated 9-year-old son Ezra, who struggles with Asperger’s.
Having recently blown up both his career and his marriage, Max now lives with his father Stan (De Niro), a gifted chef whose eccentricities caused him to lose his restaurant and become a doorman. Max, profoundly at odds with his ex-wife and her new boyfriend about how to address their son’s needs, decides to kidnap Ezra and take him on a cross-country odyssey, with hilariously disastrous results.

Hulu’s list of new releases for June 2021 is highlighted by a host of useful library titles and one fascinating original film.
The original film in question is the one that lends its delightful photo of Pierce Brosnan delivering a baby to this post. False Positive stars and was written by Ilana Glazer (Broad City). It sounds like a really fun, creepy time with a synopsis that reads: “After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own “birth story.” Cool!
Hulu’s other original offerings aren’t too inspiring this month. Only Love, Victor season 2 on June 11 moves the needle much.

The original Law & Order debuted in the fall of 1990, so long ago that the hot series it was scheduled against was thirtysomething, which nearly got revived last year as a show in which the kids from the original series would now be thirtysomething themselves. (Other new shows from that fall that have since in some stage of reboot, rumored or real, included The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Beverly Hills 90210, The Flash, and Parenthood.) It was so long ago that its other direct competition was a CBS movie-of-the-week franchise — not the movie-of-the-week franchise,...

Exclusive: Keenan Tracey (Bates Motel), Daniel Doheny (Alex Strangelove), Natalie Malaika (Fractured), newcomer Morgan Holmstrom and Kristy Dinsmore (Vikings) are set as series regulars in Syfy’s Day of the Dead, based on George A. Romero’s classic zombie film, from Abbott Street Films and Cartel Entertainment (Creepshow). Additionally, horror filmmaker Steven Kostanski is set to direct the first four episodes and executive produce. Production is currently underway on the 10-episode series in Vancouver.
Written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, who also will showrun, Day of the Dead is the intense story of six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. It boasts one of the fastest-growing TV industries on the planet, but that hasn’t cleared up misconceptions when it comes to Central and Eastern Europe. “I would like to kill some stereotypes about the region,” said Kamila Zlatušková, founder of the Serial Killer TV Festival in Brno, Czech Republic, during a showcase of regional series at the Berlinale Series Market on Tuesday.
Zlatušková said that her travels around TV festivals and markets in recent years had led her to believe that she was living in “an invisible region. There were no panels, no topics from Central and Eastern European drama.”
After years of working in the industry, including at a regional pubcaster, Zlatušková launched the Serial Killer TV Festival to change that. The week-long event, which this year takes place from Sept. 22-27, offers a platform for rising talents and hot new series to get exposure to industry players from across the globe.

Charades, the sales firm launched three years ago by former execs at Wild Bunch, Gaumont and Studiocanal, will roll into the Berlinale’s European Film Market with a raft of pre-sales on anticipated French projects, including “The Rosemaker” with Catherine Frot and Laurent Tirard’s “The Speech.”
Charades will unveil the promos of both films, as well as “Madeleine Collins,” Antoine Barraud’s psychological drama headlined by Virginie Efira, and will be hosting the market premieres of Sebastien Demoustier’s “The Girl With a Bracelet” which is generating strong box office returns in France, where it opened last week, and Bruno Merle’s “Felicita.”
A psychological drama, starring Chiara Mastroianni and Roschdy Zem, “The Girl With a Bracelet,” has already attracted 100,000 admissions in five days. The film follows a 16-year-old who stands trial for the murder of her best friend and begins to confess to a secret life that she kept from her parents.

Clearly influenced by the mystery of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, in Manifest, when Montego Air Flight 828 landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers were relieved. While I enjoyed the first season of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, it seems there are a lot of people that don’t like the show. I guess I can see why some people don’t like it, but I personally just really like how these two characters have been handled in the show. It’s solid character development.
It’s all good, though, the show isn’t for everybody, but for those of you who have been enjoying it, Freeform has released a full trailer for you to watch! It shows us that Tyrone and Tandy will be teaming up to save the world. This one specifically deals with sex trafficking. Then there’s the anti-hero Mayhem who doesn’t have any problems killing people to save others.

I’m a fan of the first season of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story of these two characters continues in the upcoming second season. If you haven’t watched Season 1 yet, you should check it out, I think most of you might dig it.
The new promo teases the arrival of the anti-hero Mayhem. Detective O'Reilly (Emma Lahana) was transformed into Mayhem after being killed and then revived by darkforce matter in the season 1 finale.
Here’s the synopsis for Season 2:
Season 2 turns the heat up on our young heroes, as Tyrone and Tandy try to find their place as more active heroes in this world. As they learn and grow emotionally, so will their skills. In Season 1, we saw Tandy and Ty dip their toes into the world of hopes and fears; this season, they will dive deeper into this metaphysical pool.

"I always knew this day would come... A new beginning. And yet - new enemies would be forged. A line would be crossed..." Oats Studios and BioWare have launched an official live-action video game trailer titled Conviction, promoting the upcoming release of Anthem - which arrives on shelves next week. This trailer is made by Neill Blomkamp, and that's the main reason we're featuring it - because it's basically another new Oats Studios live-action short film and he's still coming up with badass sci-fi concepts. Conviction is a survival story set in the world of Anthem, decades before the events of the game. Most of the exosuits look CGI, but there's still tons of live-action footage in this and it's always cool to see. There's references to Mad Max: Fury Road, and Destiny, and tons of other great sci-fi. I'm a big fan of these live-action trailers. Enjoy. View this...

In the run-up to the UniFrance Rendez-Vous in Paris, the rising sales company Charades has added three French films to its slate, “My Traitor, My Love,” a war romance-drama; “Lost And Found,” a romantic comedy; and “The Girl With a Bracelet,” a family drama.
Directed by Helier Cisterne (“Vandal”), “My Traitor, My Love” (pictured) opens in 1956 in Algeria, at a time when it was a French colony. The film stars hot French actor Vincent Lacoste (“Amanda”) and Vicky Krieps (“Phantom Thread”) as Fernand and Helene, a young couple madly in love whose destiny will be irrevocably changed by the outbreak of the Algerian War of Independence. Fernand is an activist figting for independence alongside the Algerians. The film was penned by Katell Quillévéré (“Heal the Living”) and Cisterne whose feature debut “Vandal” won the Louis Delluc Prize in 2013.
