Rob's full name is Robert L. Stevenson, a reference to the author of the original story, Robert Louis Stevenson.
At one point, Doctor Jekyll dances to a record by Anthony Newley. Newley's frequent collaborator, Leslie Bricusse, wrote the songs for a stage adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Coincidentally, the actor who plays the original Dr. Jekyll (in a flashback) is named Jonathan Hyde.
