My daughters and I have watched every Monster High movie since the beginning. They also collected the dolls for years. This school was already inclusive.... That has always been the premise of Monster High.... "Every monster is welcome!"
Every personally was changed. Every story line and character arc was changed!
Clawdeen was part of a pack.... She was a fashionista with a passion for fashion design.... Her little sister, Howleen, which was nonexistent in this movie, was the skater. Her brother Clawd was best friends with Deuce and captain of the football team, also absent from this movie. Let's not forget their older sister the writer.
Draculaura was the cheerful, bubbly center of attention.
Laguna was a swimmer, very sporty. She was a sea monster.
Ghoulia was a zombie and brilliant. She was best friends with Cleo. Cleo is the it girl. On the outside, conceited, rich and self absorbed.... But on the inside, she is generous and has a huge heart.
Abby Dominable was the awkward exchange student.... Who kind of likes Heath Burns.
Deuce was a total surfer dude and so devoted to Cleo. He became fast friends with Gill a fresh water monster.
Jackson Jekyll, the son of Dr Jekyll. He is a brilliant scientist like his dad. He was half human half monster. His monster side was called Holt Hyde. This persona is a DJ!
Frankie was the new kid in school. The story revolves around her. She is the actual narrator of the movies!
The list goes on and on of characters that have been changed or just removed.
It could have been fun to watch these beloved characters come to life as they are. So many story lines, so many new characters to bring in and meet.... This could have been a very long franchise.... But they have chosen to combine characters and change personalities instead.
Very disappointed.
Now, I do not blame the acting. The songs were good and the kids did a good job in selling the personalities that they were told to play. But his could have been so much better.

This is pretty fine musical and school story with a teense bit heroic student friends. Not too much as origin but not that far from it.
Characters are very similar, good choice here.
The only but critical minus is origin Clawdeen - why oh why she is half human here?? She is not! Hyde was half human! Wanted concept about humamonstafobia and solving it in one heroic jest - go with the origin person who you can work with! But no. And why no is the reason this movie fails the own choosing concept and fail itself big time. Sorry I want rate it higher for every else good stuff in movie but that only fail ruined it for good.

Monster high is a line of fashion dolls- why do they look like production gave them 50$ spirit halloween gift cards and they went to town??
Boring plot, bad one liners, acting was less than sublime and full of plot holes.
The songs.. THE SONGS- every scene change had a song. I had to genuinely skip through the songs.
The whole movie was basically:
Person a: i dont fit in!
Person b: me too let me explain this in a song
I honestly really had high hopes for this movie, but now i realize that Monster High was just a cash grab from a big company trying to profit off of an older generations nostalgia.
Ironically, the movie just looked really cheap?
This movie will likely follow me into my nightmares. Might be good for a horror movie marathon I suppose, but other than that a 1/10. Happy halloween..

Watching this was PAINFUL! They changed the characters so you can almost not even recognize them. They made draculaura mean. In the original she was sweet. Clawdeen is apparently the main character when Frankenstein is supposed to be. They didint even try to make the costume look right. I seem so many cosplays on monster high character. And you think that a full on movie can do better than a teenager but NO. It's not enough that they made Cleo and Deuce break up, they also made Deuce look like jughead from riverdale. This is not a spoiler cuz it's revealed very early in the show, CLAWDEEN IS NOT SUPPOSED TO DATE DUECE. The whole original gang Is not even together. If their planning on making another movie (which I know they are) please make it better or you can traumatize children with bad CGI.
And tbh I didint even a watch the whole thing, stopped at about halfway cuz I couldn't take it. I heard that it was bad but didint think this bad. If you are a parent thinking of watching this with your kid fine do it. But from someone who has watches every monster high movie on replay, I don't recommend for any monster high lover to watch this if you don't want to watch the movie with a disgusted look. Maybe this sound harsh but only my opinion.

I'm an OG fan and have an extensive Monster High collection, so I am FULLY invested with this fandom.
I adored this movie, full stop. So many little references to past Monster High movies and dolls - so you can tell the writers did their homework. The sets, atmosphere and overall asthetic are creepy cool. Football with an actual foot? Loved it!
All the songs are bops. End of discussion.
Were some characters altered? Yes. But not a full overhaul like some reviews want you to believe. The characters still have their distinctive traits, but with a more modernized/updated feel. They are all portrayed as actual teenagers in the real world, with relatable insecurities and fears.
All the actors/actresses did such an amazing job with their characters, but Frankie was my absolute favourite in the film. I loved their comedic timing and they are just overall so enjoyable to watch.
My one criticism is that there wasn't enough Ghoulia! Maybe in the sequel she'll have more screen time.
Just give this a chance. It's a wonderful movie with TONS of monster heart and doesn't deserve the hate it's getting. Really hope we get a sequel!

As a extreme fan of monster high, for years I've watched all the movies and the series they had- I put on this film in hopes of a good recreation only to see a absl bombsite of a film. The characters bare no resemblance at all to the original characters, their personalities anrent even similar in the slightest, and their style? It's absolutely atrocious.
I am disgusted and disappointed. Literally just scroll on TikTok and you will see better recreations than this FUNDED movie. If you think that I am sitting through over a hour of this monstrosity (No pun intended as this film doesn't deserve to even be joked about) then you are deluded.
So so so incredibly disappointing if you know anything about the ORIGINAL monster high. If I could give it a zero and get it removed off every platform, I would.

I've loved Monster High since its inception in 2010. The books, the cartoons, and the dolls are incredible! This movie was fun with cool songs, great cast, and spooky situations. Frankie Stein has always been my favorite character and the fact they are non-binary is beautiful. It's all about being yourself, no matter what! Clawdeen Wolf is front and center this time around, while making new friends and embracing her true self. It's such a positive film that delivers love, acceptance, songs, dance, and the perfect amount of creepiness. The entire cast made this movie better than expected. I will watch it again and again. It's one of my favorite movies of the year!

In this adaptation that seems more like a parody of the original series both cgi and cartoon, we get a whole new universe where one of the popular characters, Clawdeen is a half human breed completely ruining the storyline to Frankie's Boyfriend Shriek. Not only does Clawdeen not have Draculaura's cousin Thad as a boyfriend but she seems to be a love interest for Deuce the Gorgan, the boyfriend to Cleo however he has became an ex-boyfriend in this film. Not only are Clawdeen's siblings missing but also several other characters. Each personality is different and the fact that Clawdeen was originally an Afro-Latina, Draculaura a Transylvanian, or Lagoona an Australian. This also sets up a different dynamic in the school.

Likeable characters, catchy songs and a fun setting made this film very watchable. It knows what it is and what it is trying to accomplish and it does a great job of both. Miia Harris has all the right energy and I look forward to seeing her in many future sequels!
I also enjoyed the many many background details, props and touches that made everything extra monstrous in the background.
If I had and serious critique (for a teen movie, made for teens) is that the plot (and sub plots) were quite predictable, which is not always a bad thing with an intro into a series but I do hope they try to up the story plots with future sequels.
Overall, Monster High is exactly what you are expecting and was an enjoyable watch!

I am someone who grew up with the OG monster high web episodes and movies. I wasn't expecting much from this but it blew me away, all the talent involved was amazing and you could tell the actors had an amazing time making this film. I know this movie wasn't made for me as an adult in her 20s, it's made for children who I can just tell are going to love it!
Although a lot of the darker vibes of the original movies and episodes aren't always there it still has the same powerful message that monster high is all about!
The music was fun and catchy, the fashion wasn't as outrageous as I hoped but the style was on point and stylish (I recognized a few of the clothing items too, so it would be fun to recreate these looks), but I have to say again how amazing all the talent involved was.
The only thing as an Australian that made me sad was not making Lagoona Blue Australian, I loved her old design and the fact that there was a doll that was an Australian monster. I guess that's something the movie did lack overall was the amazing accents and cultural heritage that could have been more prevalent.
Overall it was a great movie, and I would absolutely watch it again! It's hard to create something from a material that has a big fan base, but I think this movie will create a whole new wave of monster high fans who will know that being different is the most special thing of all!

It is SO BAD, I wanna give you a zero, but that's not possible, so I give you a one.
This has literally ruined my whole childhood, I don't even want to call it a movie. It's a hellish nightmare that ruins the true Monster High.
The songs are very grindy and aren't good. Compared to Boo York, this was more like letting your drunk uncle on the karaoke machine.
The character's are not true to their original selves and it is TRIGGERING. Draculaura is not her usual fun personality and she is also missing her iconic accent. Abbie has no accent either! Lagoona is no longer an Aussie! Frankie looks 50 years old not like a teenager. CLEO AND DEUCE AREN'T TOGETHER.
I JUST HATE IT.
I want the original MH back and would honestly sell my organs for it.

This movie was terrible. I didn't have high hopes for it going it to it and rightfully so. I knew from the first 10 minutes the movie would be a nightmare. The movie doesn't even stay true to the original shows or even the movies. Its almost an entirely different movie with Monster High slapped on it. The lines are delivered awkwardly and the acting is not great (no offense to the actors and actresses). The musical aspect of it just makes it 10 times worse. (though I dislike musicals in general). As someone who loved the show and the movies (even though they were questionable at times) this is an absolute disgrace to the original.

This movie is FAR from what anyone would want to watch, especially if you grew up with the original monster high dolls and show. They completely changed the personality of each of the characters, gave them cheap clothes that arent even CLOSE to the original, and overall the script just sucks. Anyone who was part of this movie probably never even seen the show or past movies, it was just so bad. One example is draculara. She was actually my favorite character growing up, she was so bubbly and sweet. Did not expect her to be a jerk. Also Lagoona's costume was the worst, she wasnt even recognizeable.

The outfits were not serving they were not giving what needed to be gave, frankies coral lipstick was horrific. Frankies outfit is one of the most atrocious character costumes ever, why is there a belt coming over their shoulder what was the point of the neon yellow belt chain what was the thought process everything about it is horrible, why are they blue, what the actual hell was going through the designers head, they mustve just picked random items off of shein and shoved them together into a horrible mess of an outfit beacuse what the hell was that. Did not serve, 0/10. They did not give the yassing.

Well, I was vaguely familiar with the concept of "Monster High", from having seen the dolls around in toy stores, but I never seen anything on the TV. But I still opted to sit down and watch the 2022 TV movie titled "Monster High: The Movie". Why? Well, simply because I had the opportunity to do so, and because I had not already seen it.
Needless to say that I wasn't really expecting a whole lot from a movie aimed at a young female audience, but still I opted to give writers Billy Eddy, Matt Eddy, Greg Erb, Alfred Gough, Jenny Jaffe, Miles Millar, Jason Oremland, Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz the benefit of the doubt. And I will say that the writers actually put together a wholesome movie for the family here. I was actually surprised with the contents to the storyline, despite the dancing and singing.
The acting performances in "Monster High: The Movie" were good, and they definitely had some good talents on the cast list. I wasn't familiar with the actors and actresses here, but they carried the movie quite well.
Visually then "Monster High: The Movie" was okay. I mean, this is a family-friendly movie after all. But the make-up was actually fair enough. Lots of colorful and noticable characters in every scene.
Now, how true "Monster High: The Movie" is to the franchise, I can only guess. But I will say that director Todd Holland managed to put together a movie that was enjoyable to sit down and watch with the family.
My rating of "Monster High: The Movie" lands on a six out of ten stars.

Monster High is so much fun to watch with your family also the music including the dance numbers are actually really good and the cast really did a great job playing their characters! I really liked some of the background scenery in the film giving it a great touched of spookyness! The movie even has a great twist that you never see coming which actually surprised me! The movie keeps it at a level pace not to cheesy at the same time not to dark with character's that are very likable. I hope this film gets a franchise of movies cause movies like these are perfect for the whole family! Go check it out! :)

This movie is actually pretty good. Of course it's completely different from the original web series but the it's definitely enjoyable.
The songs are really good and catchy.
Making frankie non binary and neurodivergent is been an amazing idea.
Deuce is so nice and much more talkative than the original.
Unfortunately we don't have the old sassy Clawdeen but now she is more relatable.
It's a shame we didn't get to see much from lagoona, ghoulia and abbey but they probably have important roles in the future.
The outfits and the makeups are acceptable considering the low budget.
This movie is what it wanted to be and is perfect if you want to watch something light.

Whilst this movie in a technical sense isn't terrible, The newest revival to the monster high franchise has tarnished the legacy.
My biggest gripe with the movie is the characters. As a Monster High fan since 2010, it's hard to let go of the childhood nostalgia. They of course needed to freshen up there outfits, hobbies and overall aesthetic to fit modern trends. However watching Big Bad Clawdeen Wolf in purple sneakers and awkward mom length skirts made me turn off this movie before even hitting play. Clawdeen was known for her leopard print fits and heels up to the heavens. Realistic for a 15 year old? No but no one is watching this for realism but rather an escape.
Frankie being non-binary is an amazing edition to the series, but could've been more streamlined to be more visually appealing. Non-binary people such as Cara Delevingne or Miley Cyrus could've been used as a guideline for a modern ,cool FASHIONABLE character.
Draculaura visually was one of the better characters, but her cold, not warm personality was a far cry from her previous self.
With a character overall and higher budget, this movie could've been tolerable. Monster High didn't need a live action movie. Instead of a clean slate, Mattel needed to just scratch off the rust of an amazing franchise they already had.

Genuinely enjoyed this. Great music, basic but entertaining story, and some decent comedic moments. While there is some very obvious budget issues that result in not-so-great CGI, it doesn't effect the experience too much.
Characters are great (albeit very different from their generation one counterparts) and the acting was surprisingly good compared to other live-action nickelodeon projects.
The story was an average coming of age tale, but was entertaining nonetheless (if a little predictable) and the final fight segment felt a bit rushed, but I didn't mind all that much.
As for the songs, they're probably the best thing this movie has to offer. "Coming Out of the Dark" is one of the best songs I've heard from a modern kid's musical since Descendants' "Queen of Mean." I don't think there was a single song I didn't enjoy, which almost never happens for me.
It's a pretty fun movie overall, just remember: It's a reboot. It's not supposed to resemble the original Monster High. Being different isn't a valid reason to hate it and review bomb it. Watch it and actually attempt to form an opinion.
8/10 for being a good movie 10/10 for the hot teacher.

Be for real why was this movie even made Ill give my best review on this ever. Okay so one why is claween half human and half monster where is the monster high I love these reboots are out of hand. The costumes just looks like they were on a budget and got everything from dollar general or party city. I legit had high hopes for this movies but they are gone. Every actor cant act and they did horrible. I am going to watch the ORIGNAL MOVIES FOR MONSTER HIGH BECAUSE THEY WERE ACTUALLY AMAZING LEAVE SOME MOVIES ALONE CAUSE THIS SUCKED BAD. Stick to the 2010 movies please PLEASE. I actually cried.
