AMC Networks is leaning into a strategy that gives its direct-to-consumer streaming service AMC Plus greater visibility by syndicating certain elements of its content library to other streaming services, executives confirmed on Friday.

The evolution of the plan follows what executives considered a successful test run between AMC Networks and Warner Bros Discovery (Wbd) last year, during which content from AMC Plus was offered through Wbd-owned streaming service Max for a little over a month.

During the company’s third financial quarter (Q3) of the year, AMC Networks built on those partnerships, launching “The AMC Networks” on Netflix with past episodes of 13 AMC series. It also swapped content with Amazon, sending nine of it shows to MGM Plus while receiving nine MGM Plus...

AMC Networks has acquired full control of BBC America, its joint venture with BBC Studios.

The U.S. media company has owned a 49.9% stake in the channel since 2014, which it purchased for $200 million in a deal with BBC Worldwide. With this new transaction, which closed Nov. 1, AMC Networks gains the remaining 50.1% of BBC America in exchange for $42 million in cash.

Per AMC Networks’ Q3 earnings results, which were released Friday, AMC Networks “now owns 100% of the BBC America business, with full operational control, and will continue to fully consolidate BBC America.”

Along with “Mad Men,” “The Walking Dead” and “Breaking Bad,” some of the shows AMC Networks is best known for are past BBC America hits and critical darlings, including “Killing Eve,” “Orphan Black” and “Doctor Who” (which now airs on Disney+).

AMC Networks says “future contractual programming commitments to BBC Studios would have been significantly reduced,” had the deal been closed by Sept.

AMC Networks — the company behind such cable channel brands as AMC, IFC and Sundance TV, as well as such streaming services as AMC+, Acorn TV and horror streamer Shudder — reported a 10 percent drop in third-quarter U.S. advertising revenue to $133 million on Friday. It cited “linear ratings declines and a challenging ad market, partly offset by digital and advanced advertising revenue growth.”

Quarterly affiliate revenue decreased 13 percent to $164 million, “primarily due to basic subscriber declines.”

After returning to streaming subscriber growth in the third quarter of last year after two quarters of declines, the company added around 200,000 users in the latest quarter to end September with a total of 11.8 million subs, compared with 11.6 million as of the end of June.

The cast for Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel continues to grow, with Deadline reporting that Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriette have rounded out the cast members of the anticipated sequel.

The slasher franchise will return to theaters on July 18, 2025.

The actors join previously announced cast members Billy Campbell, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Haur-King. Freddie Prinze Jr. is confirmed to reprise his role from the original movies; Jennifer Love Hewitt is in talks to return as well.

Earlier this year, it was announced that actor Jay Hernandez, whose credits include Magnum P.I., Hostel, and Suicide Squad, would be making his feature directorial debut with with the survival horror thriller Night Comes, working from a screenplay he wrote with Jason Bourque and Nancy Isaak. The film stars Dafne Keen and Samantha Lorraine – and now an image from the Night Comes production has been unveiled, giving us our first look at the characters played by Keen and Lorraine. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon wrapped its second season on AMC over the weekend, and viewers have now been given their first look at season three of The Walking Dead spin-off series. A short teaser trailer was released showing the continued adventures of Daryl and Carol as they try to find their way back home. Filming for season three has already begun.

Back in 1986, David Cronenberg directed a remake of Kurt Neumann’s 1958 sci-fi horror classic The Fly (which was based on George Langelaan’s short story) – and the result is considered to be one of the best remakes of all time. 20th Century Fox, now the Disney subsidiary 20th Century Studios, has been wanting to replicate that success with another remake for a couple of decades now… but the project has never managed to escape from development hell. Cronenberg wanted to come back and make another Fly movie, but it fell apart over budgetary issues. Screenwriter Todd Lincoln wrote a remake of The Fly that he described as a “dark, twisted, grounded re- imagining… Part Val-Lewton, part J.G. Ballard, part Neal Stephenson with some Horror Manga touches.” The studio wasn’t into it. J.D. Dillard was attached to direct a new version of The Fly for years, then stepped away from it.

The Daryl Dixon season 2 finale was an action-packed, crazy hour of television. Fleeing France, both Daryl and Carol made their way down the dark and cavernous Channel Tunnel — once the railway that went between England and France — where they encountered myriad troubles. Heading into the hour, the fan-favorite duo were set to split from one another, as clutch rescue pilot Ash (Manish Dayal) couldn’t fit them both on his plane. Daryl decides to stay, despite Carol wanting to take his place in the sacrifice play. In the end, both of them get to stick around, thanks to the last gasps of the French autocrat army showing up right before takeoff.

Outgunned, Daryl briefly appears outnumbered until Carol shows up right in the nick of time to save his hide.

if someone had told you in 2010 that The Walking Dead Universe would still be carrying on in 2024 (and through to 2025), you might not have believed them. Nobody would blame you for that, because even with the franchise's popularity at the time, long-running science fiction or fantasy shows weren't as regular a thing back then. Daryl Dixon season 2 may not have been too unique with the character arcs and the fate of our favorites, but the makers have surely had their fun coming up with the conflicts in the Daryl-centric spin-off. I don’t know about you, but I certainly didn’t see that ending coming. This might also be one of the handful of times things have transcended to almost a horror status in The Walking Dead universe. While you might expect “The Walking Dead” or “Interview With the Vampire” to be the most-watched show on AMC+, the streamer announced last year that “Mayfair Witches,” starring Alexandra Daddario, is the most-viewed season of any series ever on AMC+. About a year and half ago, it was announced that The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman will be producing a remake of the 1956 horror film The Mole People (watch it Here) for Universal Pictures… and while we wait for further updates on that project, Deadline has revealed that there’s a different “mole people” project coming our way from Rob Savage, the director of the Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman and the screen life horror films Host and Dashcam. This one is called Molepeople and has Anthony Ramos (Twisters) and Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom) attached to star in it.

Described as telling the story of one man’s nightmarish descent into the abandoned tunnels beneath the streets of New York City, where a twisted society lurks, Molepeople brings to mind not only The Mole People but also the 1984 film C.H.U.D., which involved people living in the tunnels beneath NYC, and the 1972 film Death Line (a.
