As a fan of the British version, I was eager to watch the American version of Ghosts when it began last fall. While I still prefer the British version, the American version has become one of the best new comedies this year. The episode "The Vault" continues to cement this opinion. Although I did not initially like all of the characters when this show began, the characters have grown on me and this episode continues to improve my affinity for these characters. This episode significantly develops Hetty and adds more depth to her character. If the series continues on the trajectory it's been on in the past few episodes, there's a chance that the American version will catch the British version in character development. There were also many new ideas on this episode that were quite original and should be incorporated into the British version. The premise of a ghost who makes people aroused was quite humorous. Most importantly, the twist that ghosts can descend to the underworld adds a new dimension to the series. While it was a great episode, there are still a few weaknesses in the series. Storylines are still a bit rushed, as the drama between Hetty and her husband should have played out over several episodes. Additionally, the show consistently finds absurd ways to introduce new ghosts in the show, such as a secret vault that even the ghosts didn't know about. If the series continues this trend, it will start getting ridiculous and irritating. But with those small complaints aside, it is still a great episode. 8/10.
