The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, proved to be a gratifying night for big winners "Homeland," "Modern Family" and "Game Change"— "and no one watching at home," reports Salon. "Everything was just ... fine," writes Vulture. "Nothing bombed miserably, but nothing burned particularly brightly, either." NPR is blunt: "That was just not a very good show." "Homeland," the tense CIA drama about a terrorist plot on American soil, won the 2012 Emmy Award for Best Drama, preventing "Mad Men" from breaking a record by winning five consecutive Best Drama awards. Claire Danes won Best Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of a complex CIA agent in the show, while Damian Lewis' Best Actor in a Drama win for "Homeland" deterred Bryan Cranston from four awards in the category. Vulture reports that "Mad Men" was the...

Will the Primetime Emmys be divided into two shows?
That's just one of the ideas circulating Monday, the day after the 62nd Primetime Emmys Awards show drew an on-par 13 million viewers for NBC.
The major TV networks have broached the idea with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences of expanding the number of networks that share in the rotation of the Primetime Emmy awards show to include cable networks and possibly to split it into two separate shows, one for broadcast and another to air on cable or pay TV.
These and other ideas came up in a meeting between executives of CBS, NBC, Fox and ABC in early August, according to a report on the Wall Street Journal's website Monday.
While the audience for Sunday's show was up from 2008, it was still down by nearly a third from 2002, the last time the major networks negotiated a license agreement with...

The early Emmy numbers are in and the result is too close to call.
The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards generated a 10.1 household rating in the local metered market household ratings.
Last year's telecast, which aired in late September, pulled a 10.0.
Overall, the current numbers represent a three-year high, according to an NBC analyst.
The national ratings will be out in a few hours. In the meantime, read yesterday's Live Feed post predicting that Emmy numbers would rise slightly and running down the unique factors this year potentially impacting the outcome.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards delivered a night of genuine surprises and evenly distributed accolades, with "Mad Men" coming out on top for the third consecutive year as Outstanding Drama Series -- and "Modern Family" out-dysfunctioning "Glee" for Outstanding Comedy Series. Read on for the recap! Get the complete list of Emmy winners Here! The big upset of the night truly was achieved by "Modern Family," as the momentum and popularity of "Glee" was expected by many to out-sing the competition, which included powerhouse "30 Rock," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Nurse Jackie" and "The Office." On the drama side, many may have hoped that "Lost" would win, given that that this year marked its swan song, but "Mad Men" still beat out the Oceanic castaways as well as "Dexter," "The Good Wife," "True Blood" and "Breaking Bad." "Breaking Bad" still had a good night, with Bryan Cranston celebrating his third consecutive Emmy...

"Tonight we're going to celebrate your work," host Jimmy Fallon told the audience before the Primetime Emmy Awards began on Sunday, August 29. Shortly after, names like Edie Falco and Jim Parsons were called to ascend the stage and receive the honor of their work.
Falco is the winner of Best Leading Actress in a Comedy for Showtime's "Nurse Jackie". She said on the acceptance speech, "Oh, this is the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened in the history of this awards show. I'm not funny!". Parsons is the winner of the Leading Actor in Comedy for CBS' "The Big Bang Theory". "Now I know how much I didn't think this was going to happen. Some of you apparently voted for me. That was very sweet," Parsons said.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards began with a song and dance number with host Jimmy Fallon and surprise guests, including Tina Fey, "Glee" cast members, Jon Hamm and Betty White, but the night spotlighted many first-time winners and featured some upsets.
AMC's "Mad Men" took home its third straight award for top drama, while newcomer and critical favorite "Modern Family" grabbed its first win for comedy series.
When "Family" co-creator Steve Levitan referred to the lack of recognition for writers as he accepted on behalf of the cast and crew, he joked, "That's Hollywood!"
The first Emmy of the night went to "Family's" Eric Stonestreet, who took home his first statuette for supporting actor. The ABC comedy continued its streak, winning for writing.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards kicked off not with a bang, but with a splash. Host Jimmy Fallon corralled the cast of the Emmy Award-nominated hit "Glee" for a cold open straight out of McKinley High.
Enlisting stars like Jon Hamm, Tina Fey and Betty White, while dodging an overeager Kate Gosselin, the gang jumped around until Jane Lynch doused Fallon and Fey with a candy-colored slushee, demanding to be added to the song-and-dance number. Then things really got poppin'.
Fallon punched up the Emmys telecast with digital and musical touches similar to those he often uses on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon." He didn't slow-jam any of the categories, but the comedian did strap on an acoustic guitar to introduce...

For the past two weeks, Jimmy Fallon has been spending his Late Night vacation days in Los Angeles as he prepares to host this Sunday's 62nd Emmy Awards, an esteemed gig that will put him in the company of legendary entertainers like Lucille Ball, Ed Sullivan, Frank Sinatra, and Johnny Carson. Unlike the hosts before him, the Saturday Night Live alum will be relying on his Twitter network for intros and in turn, NBC will be relying on Fallon to smoothly move the telecast along, skirting any potential grenades that the Outstanding Variety Series winner might bring.
With this in mind, Movieline caught up with the late night host at an NBC party a few weeks ago to discuss his take on award shows, his recent social networking failure, and Will Arnett's greatest Emmy diss.

NBC late night funnyman, Jimmy Fallon has been tapped to host The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards live from Los Angeles on Sunday August 29th, 2010. As host, there are two imperative jobs - make sure that the evening goes by without a hitch and perform a killer introduction that will set the vibe for the rest of the evening. For the first time in Emmy history, the host is looking to the fans to help write the presenter introduction speeches, instead of using the talented staff writers. Via Twitter, Fallon will be picking the funniest, zippiest 140-character tweets that he will read live on national television each time a presenter walks on stage. There is a possibility that your tweet could be read live at the Emmy’s! Jon Hamm (Mad Men (TV)), Tina Fey (30 Rock (TV)) and Matthew Morrison (Glee (TV)) are three of the fifteen presenters that will be...

The first piece of news about the content of upcoming Emmy Awards has arrived. Kate Gosselin, mother of eight and star of Tlc's "Kate Plus 8", is set to open the awards show on August 29 with a number of other celebrities familiar to TV fans.
Reports said Gosselin, who is neither nominated nor announced as the presenter, will appear at the start of the show as part of a humorous sketch where she interacts with some of TV's biggest stars. The awards show's host Jimmy Fallon would be one of them and he, according to E! Online, would "kill it right out of the gate."
In an interview with Los Angeles Times last week, Fallon spilled a bit of what he would do as host. "It'll have the spirit of the late-night show," he said. "I'll do jokes and impressions, and we'll keep it very high-energy and positive and keep it moving,...
