Will the Primetime Emmys be divided into two shows?

That's just one of the ideas circulating Monday, the day after the 62nd Primetime Emmys Awards show drew an on-par 13 million viewers for NBC.

The major TV networks have broached the idea with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences of expanding the number of networks that share in the rotation of the Primetime Emmy awards show to include cable networks and possibly to split it into two separate shows, one for broadcast and another to air on cable or pay TV.

These and other ideas came up in a meeting between executives of CBS, NBC, Fox and ABC in early August, according to a report on the Wall Street Journal's website Monday.

The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards generated a 10.1 household rating in the local metered market household ratings.

Last year's telecast, which aired in late September, pulled a 10.0.

Overall, the current numbers represent a three-year high, according to an NBC analyst.

"Tonight we're going to celebrate your work," host Jimmy Fallon told the audience before the Primetime Emmy Awards began on Sunday, August 29. Shortly after, names like Edie Falco and Jim Parsons were called to ascend the stage and receive the honor of their work.

Falco is the winner of Best Leading Actress in a Comedy for Showtime's "Nurse Jackie". She said on the acceptance speech, "Oh, this is the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened in the history of this awards show. I'm not funny!". Parsons is the winner of the Leading Actor in Comedy for CBS' "The Big Bang Theory". "Now I know how much I didn't think this was going to happen. Some of you apparently voted for me. The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards began with a song and dance number with host Jimmy Fallon and surprise guests, including Tina Fey, "Glee" cast members, Jon Hamm and Betty White, but the night spotlighted many first-time winners and featured some upsets.

AMC's "Mad Men" took home its third straight award for top drama, while newcomer and critical favorite "Modern Family" grabbed its first win for comedy series.

When "Family" co-creator Steve Levitan referred to the lack of recognition for writers as he accepted on behalf of the cast and crew, he joked, "That's Hollywood!"

The first Emmy of the night went to "Family's" Eric Stonestreet, who took home his first statuette for supporting actor. The ABC comedy continued its streak, winning for writing.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards kicked off not with a bang, but with a splash. Host Jimmy Fallon corralled the cast of the Emmy Award-nominated hit "Glee" for a cold open straight out of McKinley High.

Enlisting stars like Jon Hamm, Tina Fey and Betty White, while dodging an overeager Kate Gosselin, the gang jumped around until Jane Lynch doused Fallon and Fey with a candy-colored slushee, demanding to be added to the song-and-dance number. Then things really got poppin'.

Fallon punched up the Emmys telecast with digital and musical touches similar to those he often uses on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon." He didn't slow-jam any of the categories, but the comedian did strap on an acoustic guitar to introduce...

For the past two weeks, Jimmy Fallon has been spending his Late Night vacation days in Los Angeles as he prepares to host this Sunday's 62nd Emmy Awards, an esteemed gig that will put him in the company of legendary entertainers like Lucille Ball, Ed Sullivan, Frank Sinatra, and Johnny Carson. Tina Fey, Will Arnett, Stephen Colbert, Edie Falco and Laurence Fishburne have been added to the roster of distinguished presenters at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards! Four of the presenters are also up for awards on August 29: "30 Rock" star Fey is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Comedy Series, plus Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on "Saturday Night Live." Arnett has a nod for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on "30 Rock." "Nurse Jackie" star Falco is nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. And Colbert's "The Colbert Report" is up for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series. The first piece of news about the content of upcoming Emmy Awards has arrived. Kate Gosselin, mother of eight and star of Tlc's "Kate Plus 8", is set to open the awards show on August 29 with a number of other celebrities familiar to TV fans.

Reports said Gosselin, who is neither nominated nor announced as the presenter, will appear at the start of the show as part of a humorous sketch where she interacts with some of TV's biggest stars.
