Christopher Nolan is assembling the best among the Hollywood actors for his next film after Oppenheimer. The filmmaker’s Oscar glory attracted many mainstream names to his next project, which is a second collaboration between Nolan and Universal Pictures. Charlize Theron is reportedly the latest A-lister to join the film, raising the bar for the new Nolan project.

When the film was first announced, Matt Damon, who starred in a supporting role in Oppenheimer, was one of the first casting decisions to come out. More actors are reportedly being cast in the film, including, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong’o. The salaries of these actors alone make the Nolan film a costly affair.

Seth Rogen is a movie executive in the star-studded and chaotic trailer for The Studio. News of the Apple TV+ comedy dates to November 2022, when it was first reported that Rogen was set to headline a show about the inner workings of Hollywood, with each subsequent casting announcement for the project adding another familiar name to the ensemble.
Apple TV+ has now released the trailer for The Studio, which will premiere with two episodes on March 26, 2025.
The Studio is a ten-episode half-hour comedy that focuses on Rogen's lead character, as he very clearly struggles to keep things under control. The teaser, which continues for a little over a minute, shows how much the executive faces. It also previews the well-known supporting cast, in addition to cameos from Seth Rogen's Long Shot co-star Charlize Theron, Zoe Kravitz, and legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese.

Larry David, especially the fictionalized version in Curb Your Enthusiasm, can be called many things a curmudgeon, a misanthrope, etc. but to Juan Catalan, he's a lifesaver. In 2024, Curb Your Enthusiasm ended after 12 hilarious seasons of David fighting a one-battle against life's daily annoyances and its nonsensical social conventions. While there were many times Larry David was in the right on Curb Your Enthusiasm, he's one of TV's most selfish characters. This is the man who, upon learning his girlfriend had cancer, raced home to break up with her before she got the diagnosis, after all.
In Curb Your Enthusiasm season 4, episode 6, "The Car Pool Lane", Larry finds himself in one of his typical predicaments: he won't be able to get to an LA Dodgers baseball game because he's caught in traffic. So, in typical Larry David fashion, he hires Monina (Kym Whitley), a sex worker, but not for her...

It’s been four years since a sequel to “Dirty Dancing” was announced, with Jennifer Grey set to reprise her role as Frances “Baby” Houseman from the 1987 original. The follow-up film was originally slated for a 2024 release, but Lionsgate pushed back its theatrical release due to last year’s Hollywood strikes.
Recently, Grey shared an update on the long-delayed “Dirty Dancing” sequel at the BFI London Film Festival premiere of her latest film, “A Real Pain.”
“I can’t tell you much about ‘Dirty Dancing’ as I’m not going to make promises,” Grey told GamesRadar+ and other reporters at the “A Real Pain” premiere in London on Sunday. “I’m just waiting for them to really nail it down as it has to be right.”
Grey also told the reporters that they can “push that aside” until the next time they speak, “when it hopefully it will all be ironed out.

Demi Moore doesn’t really want more “Ghost.”
The actress told Variety that after it was announced in 2023 that Channing Tatum was set to produce a remake of the Oscar-winning 1990 film, she had her own doubts.
“There are some films better left alone,” Moore said. “But it depends on what the take is. […] Channing is incredibly intelligent and talented — who knows what he would bring to it if it happened.”
Moore starred alongside Patrick Swayze in the acclaimed romance-drama that centered on a widow (Moore) who is visited by the spirit of her husband (Swayze) after he is murdered. Whoopi Goldberg won the Academy Award for playing a psychic who helps solve the case. “Ghost” earned five Academy Award nominations, garnering another win for Best Original Screenplay.
“The success of ‘Ghost’ is really about alchemy,” “The Substance” star Moore said. “Think about Whoopi, who anchored the comedy in a magical way.

Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker may well return for Rush Hour 4 – but director Brett Ratner appears to be the stumbling block.
It seems as though since around 2016, the Rush Hour trilogy of movies – starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker – have been billed as Brett Ratner’s Rush Hour trilogy. Take a look at the US Blu-ray box art for proof of that.
On and off since the release of the pretty crappy Rush Hour 3 in 2007, there’s been talk of a Rush Hour 4, with occasional, sporadic interviews suggesting that Brett Ratner, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have all been keen.
The significant issue has been the serious sexual allegations that have been aimed at Brett Ratner. We’re going to cede to the Wikipedia list, given there are numerous accusations against Ratner, that you can read about here.

“Annie Hall” changed the game in being a cautionary tale about a couple that conspicuously doesn’t last, while at the same time an enduring case for the wonder and necessity of romance. “The Other Way Around” is a similarly wacky subversion of the rom-com theme in that its central couple, successful millennial director Ale (Itsaso Arana) and actor Alex (Vito Sanz), cheerfully announce to their friends and loved ones that they’re breaking up. A big party will mark the occasion and duly end the relationship — which, their friends remind them, has gone on forever (more than a decade). The only people who think this is a sane idea is Ale and Alex. Not even Ale’s father(played by director Jonás Trueba’s real-life father, Fernando) can fathom it, although it was originally his idea. The concept seems to be born out of a kind of 90s stand-up...

Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne played a happily married couple to great success in the Neighbors films. But when the franchise’s director, Nicholas Stoller, approached them to star opposite each other in his and wife Francesca Delbanco’s Apple TV+ comedy Platonic, he was after a different dynamic.
He was eager to trade on their chemistry while assuring audiences that their characters, who play longtime friends, would never actually hook up. Rogen and Byrne both jumped in, debuting their first hard-r — or, in this case, TV-ma — comedy in years.
With the actors strike behind them, the duo hopped on a Zoom from opposite coasts in early December to discuss their onscreen partnership, the future of the series and why Rogen fears his scalp may never be the same.

The run-up to Halloween proved to be a good time to release a new version of Goosebumps.
The series based on R.L. Stine’s beloved books broke into the top 10 overall for the week of Oct. 16-22. The show, which streams on both Disney+ and Hulu, racked up 594 million minutes of viewing for its second week of release, marking a rare non-Marvel or Star Wars original series entry for Disney+ in Nielsen’s rankings (being available on two platforms helped, as well).
Nielsen, incidentally, classified Goosebumps as an acquired show the previous week, apparently because of it being shared across the two platforms, before switching it to the originals column going forward.

Ichiyama Shozo assumed control of the program of the Tokyo International Film Festival after a long programming career that included Tokyo and the slightly more indie Tokyo Filmex events. He is also a regular producing partner of Chinese art-house darling Jai Zhangke. These influences have shaped his approach to this year’s Tokyo Iff lineup, he told Variety.
The 2023 autumn festivals all seem to have strong line-ups. And Tokyo is no exception. What is your understanding of the reasons for that?
This year we received many more entries than previous years. I don’t know the reason, but I feel the film production situation worldwide has come back to the level before the pandemic.
What were your guidelines and criteria for selection this time around?
I feel many talented filmmakers are struggling with various social problems surrounding their countries. Most of the competition films are dealing with such subjects.

No Hard Feelings has made the Netflix global top 10 list, ranking as the seventh most popular film for the week of October 16 – 22. The R-rated comedy stars Jennifer Lawrence as Maddie, a broke woman who takes a job attempting to get a 19-year-old boy out of his shell before he heads off to college. The movie earned positive reviews from critics and audiences, but failed to impress at the box office due to its high budget and a theatrical landscape that isn't friendly to comedies.
No Hard Feelings, Jennifer Lawrence's raunchy comedy movie, has just become a big hit on Netflix. Directed by Gene Stupnitsky, the movie hit theaters this past summer, starring Lawrence as Maddie, a woman who takes a job helping two helicopter parents break their 19-year-old son out of his shell before college.

“Beckham” has officially been defeated — the Netflix miniseries, not the soccer star. “The Fall of the House of Usher” moved from second place to first on Netflix’s Top 10 English-language TV list Tuesday.
This shift comes a week ahead of Halloween, fitting for the spooky miniseries based on the work of Edgar Allan Poe. The series from Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy secured 7.9 million views in its second week. With those numbers, it beat out last week’s reigning champion “Beckham,” which secured 6.9 million views.
Also on the English-language Top 10 list were the U.K. limited series “Bodies” in the No. 3 spot with 5.5 million views, the fantasy series “I Woke Up a Vampire” in the No. 4 spot with 3.4 million views and Season 4 of the comedy “Sex Education” in the No.

The soundtrack of Long Shot is filled with both modern and nostalgic tunes that perfectly complement the romantic journey of the lead characters. The songs in the movie range from optimistic and upbeat to sentimental and reflective, enhancing the different moments and emotions experienced by Fred and Charlotte. The inclusion of nostalgic songs adds depth to the relationship between the characters, grounding them in a shared history and creating a sense of authenticity.
Supporting the lead stars Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron in the feel-good romantic comedy Long Shot is a fun and upbeat soundtrack riddled with plenty of nostalgic tunes. The movie stars Seth Rogen as the recently unemployed journalist Fred Flarsky who reunites with his former babysitter turned US Secretary of State, Charlotte Field (played by Theron). Their spontaneous reunion fans the flames of a cursory but intimate moment they once shared as teenagers, and Charlize Theron's character...

Andy Serkis took it upon himself to undergo a dramatic transformation for his role as the villain in Long Shot, embracing extensive prosthetics and a wig. The film's director praised Serkis for making choices that enhanced his character and made it his own, even if it meant spending six hours a day in makeup. Serkis's character in the movie, Parker Wembley, draws inspiration from real-life figures like Richard Branson and Rupert Murdoch.
Andy Serkis plays the villain in Long Shot, but the actor went through a transformation so dramatic that he is almost unrecognizable as his character in the movie. The 2019 romantic comedy film tells the story of United States Secretary of State Charlotte Field and her plan to run for president. Long Shot is a delightful romantic comedy-drama with a talented ensemble cast that includes Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron. One of the highlights of the film is the chemistry between Rogen and Theron, but the diverse supporting cast, including Andy Serkis and Bob Odenkirk, also shines. The film showcases the comedic charm of Rogen, the versatility of Theron, and the talent of O'Shea Jackson Jr., with cameos from Boyz II Men and Lil Yachty.
Long Shot is a delightful comedy with a cast that includes genre stalwarts like Seth Rogen and critically acclaimed superstars like Charlize Theron. Set to the backdrop of an American presidential campaign, the romantic comedy-drama finds Rogen playing a journalist who crosses paths with his former babysitter — only now the babysitter is the U.S. Secretary of State and aiming for a shot at the White House. Everyone remembers their first R-rated movie. Maybe you snuck into a theater trying to pass as 17, or maybe your parents didn’t care for censorship. Either way — whether it’s a movie with gore, expletives or nudity — that first experience leaves an impression.
Max Handelman, who co-founded Brownstone Productions with his wife, Elizabeth Banks, recalls watching John Landis’ “Kentucky Fried Movie” and “Animal House” in his youth. His colleague Alison Small, head of film at Brownstone, distinctly recalls watching “White Men Can’t Jump” with her family and seeing “American Pie” in a packed theater with friends.
Now, Handelman and Small have found success trying to rekindle that experience for a new generation of moviegoers, with two of this year’s stand-out R-rated comedies: “Cocaine Bear” and “Bottoms.”

At CinemaCon 2023, Sony revealed another look at “No Hard Feelings,” the Gene Stupnitsky-directed romp starring Jennifer Lawrence as a down-on-her-luck Uber driver who takes a gig to “date” a socially awkward high schooler to bring the 19-year-old out of his shell before college. It’s an old-school, R-rated star+concept comedy, something that was in short supply even before Covid sent many such titles to streaming platforms.
The footage features the initial meeting between Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman. It’s the full sequence heavily featured in the first trailer, whereby Lawrence attempts to “pick up” the kid at the animal shelter where he volunteers. There’s a dog at the shelter who is apparently addicted to cocaine and who barks furiously when the word “cocaine” is uttered.
We get a slew of not-so-subtle entendres to which the kid has no idea how to react. Again, as seen in the trailer,...

There’s nothing quite like when HBO is airing one of its trademark watercooler-worthy dramas weekly. Thankfully, we’ll get to it experience exactly that and more on HBO Max in March 2023.
The big ticket item on HBO Max this March is undoubtedly Succession Season 4 on March 26. Part prestige drama and part screwball comedy, Succession is about as fun a watch as they come. Season 4 of the series about egregious wealth will find the Roy siblings reeling after trying and failing to take down their father, Logan (Brian Cox).
HBO Max’s other major TV option this month is another weekly release from HBO. Matthew Rhys returns as the titular lawyer in Perry Mason Season 2 on March 6. Season 1 of this period piece reboot flexed the classic TV character’s detective skills. From the look of the trailer, it seems as though this is the year Perry makes his name in the court room.
