"Kanguva" is a visually impressive action film that unfortunately lacks the emotional depth and compelling villain needed to truly elevate it to greatness. While Suriya delivers an award-worthy performance and the action sequences are spectacular, the film falls short in its storytelling and character development.
Suriya's transformation and dedication to the role are truly commendable. He commands the screen with his presence and delivers a powerful performance that is both physically impressive and emotionally resonant. The action sequences are a visual treat, showcasing Suriya's skills and the film's impressive special effects.
However, the film's narrative feels somewhat disjointed and lacks a strong emotional core. The flashback sequences, while visually stunning, fail to establish a truly compelling villain or create a strong emotional connection with the audience. The lack of a formidable antagonist diminishes the impact of the hero's journey and the overall stakes of the film.
Despite its shortcomings, "Kanguva" is an entertaining action film with impressive visuals and a standout performance from Suriya. However, its lack of emotional depth and a compelling villain prevent it from reaching its full potential.

Positives:
1. Stellar Performance: Surya's acting is truly exceptional. His nuanced expressions, especially his piercing gaze into the camera, are captivating.
2. Powerful Music: While not every DSP score hits the mark, the ones that do are absolute bangers.
3. Visual Brilliance: The cinematography, particularly in the flashback scenes and Surya's close-ups, is stunningly clear and concise.
4. Impressive Production Design: The film boasts breathtaking locations and impressive CGI, with minor flaws that are easily overlooked.
5. Memorable Moments: There are 4-5 scenes that showcase Surya's acting prowess and leave a lasting impact.
Negatives: 1. Unoriginal Storyline: The plot, revolving around reincarnation, feels somewhat familiar and has been explored in numerous films.
2. Abrupt Editing: Some scenes abruptly cut to the next, interrupting the flow and leaving the audience wanting more.
3. Climax Disruption: The parallel cuts between Francis and Kanguva during the climax diminish the impact of the intense Kanguva war sequences.
4. Lack of Clarity: Certain scenes lack sufficient context, making it difficult to fully understand the narrative.
5. Unconvincing Villain: Bobby Deol's portrayal as the villain is over-the-top and comical, rather than menacing.
Overall, the decision to split the film into two parts is questionable. While it's not necessarily bad, it disrupts the narrative flow, especially at a crucial point when the story is building to a climax.

The only movie that was a hit for Siva is Siruthai and this guy has been running the world with just one movie and all the other movies are disaster and I don't know why actors are still accepting movies from him after making such a nonsensical movies..
I hope after seeing this movie and other flop movies of him the producer should stop giving money to this guy,
He's wasting money and shaming Tamilnadu, after this movie, many other state people started mocking tamil industry that tamilians cannot make great movies and I hope other directors seeing this should learn from him how to not take movies..

The image of the ideal actor Suriya is the award winner actor and the movie Kangua does not have any proper script.looks like a typical thriller and adventurous serial. The worst movie i saw till date. Exitement went wrong.waste of money ,time ,and hope.suggesting everyone to not to see this movie.and save your valuable time.always great actor Suriya but don't work with shiva sir.concept of the movie is not clear.also not having proper sequence.everytime past and present and again past again present it seems like a serials.hope so the team of the movie can understand the feelings of the common fan of Suriya and take it as a suggestion in a good way.good luck next time for the part 2 if coming....

Kanguva is a historically overacted and confusing story, and star minus with scary and over makeup and larger then life action seens make you believe that you are wasting your time, all cast and crew are fail to believe us in their story. Above all they are started with roman emperors attack on their places with 25k solider but they are fighting with each other!!! What about the 25k solider who are coming to India to rule, who made them go back?? Why they are disappear? Editing is also very poor you just can't understand what is going on, no evidence of motive or reson why they boy is looking to meet Surya!!!

Kanguva absorbs you into his world of raw, outrageous, mad-max world of blood, revenge and love.
International standard making, top-notch technicality, that's nothing short of an Apocalypto, with insane performances from Suriya and Bobby.
Story is absolutely relatable, great writing and detailing.
Just ignore all targeted negativity and catch it in 3D, ofcourse with earbuds/cotton 🙂. It's loud, crazily loud, but if you love action, outrageous action, then this is the movie for you.
Pros: Everything.
Only Con: Loudness.
For sure a blockbuster making and a re-watch for me, already waiting for Kanguva II.

Kanguva
A ruthless and raging race for power and wealth among two distinct civilizations ageing centuries.
The story in nutshell revolves around a valour warrior and a boy who lived in the 10th century and their intertwined connection they have with two identical individuals in the 21st century.
Shiva has rendered the story in a way connecting the two generations/civilizations that are ages apart but slipped in the effort to set a basic background for the story convincingly linking them which makes the audience lethargic.
Shiva has precisely portrayed the ancient civilization part with accurate detailing of the characters and their lineages. The movie brilliantly portrays promise over blood, ruthless revenge, betrayal, violence, brotherhood through eventful moments in the story.
Shiva deserves appreciation for brilliantly portraying the ancient civilization part which truly stands out in the story.
Suriya's performance as Kanguva the warrior was striking in the action sequences. Disha Patani's character and the duo song in the early 10 minutes for background formation of Suriya's character is a total misfit. Bobby Deol as Udhiran was absolutely dashing. Karthi's intro was stunning and his cameo performance left an impact and is a cliffhanger for further progress of the story. Good performances by Bose Venkat,Avinash,Yogi Babu,Harish Uthaman,Premkumar,Vatsan Chakravarthy & Karuna.
Sri Devi Prasad's music & BGM's in the action sequences were absolutely a treat with the visual extravaganza. Special appreciation to Nishad Yusuf(late) for his contribution to the movie. Hats off to Vetri Palanisamy,Milan for their efforts in setting the ancient era and brilliantly capturing the visuals. The action directors,CG/VFX team & colorist also deserves appreciation.
Kanguva is a decent attempt by Shiva leaving behind the monotonous factor which will hopefully be answered in the sequel.
Rating - 3.5/5.

A movie which lost sight of its intention. No matter how good the cinematography, acting, action, graphics... An overdose of it is definitely not enjoyable. Do these directors watch the movie from the point of view of an audience... We can't sit for 2.5 hours and watch people kill each other in a variety of ways. I wish they had focused on having a proper story also. This is not a good direction that our movies are heading towards... Violence...aggression.. revenge.. how is that enjoyable. There's no relief between the violent scenes. Too much screaming, graphic violence. This movie is not a pleasant watch for sure.

Suriya's performance, best stunning visuals, and a few standout moments with DSP's music are the film's main highlights. The fight sequences are impressive. While the first half is average, the second half picks up with a decent pace. However, the biggest drawback lies in the writing, which lacks emotional depth, making it harder to connect with the story and characters. The VFX could have been improved, and some of the most anticipated moments fell flat. Despite these flaws, the movie delivers a visually grand theatrical experience.
Siva and team might have done a great job by improving the writing, but the Suriya has stole the movie and it will become a good movie in his career and at climax the cameo was awesome, and it gives the boosts for the second part.

Disheartening to see Surya has failed in this film in all aspects, he has portrayed backward people wrongly with a discriminated mindset. He is yielding it now. The screenplay, music, performance are below par and only positive is VFX work. The songs are average, the way sound engineering work done is pathetic. People coming out with headache and not worth spending the money for this film.
As Jothika always says in public, people can spend money for poor children education instead of wasting money for these kind of movies which are irritating in nature and worst. The build up given by the crew also added fuel to the public mindset.

As a Suriya fan , it's hard to accept Kanguva after 2.8 years of wait . This movie neither offers entertainment nor gives something grandeur. All the efforts are wasted . Siva is totally outdated and his ideas are crap. Suriya should invest his time with some young directors . Painful and torturous watch for a true fans. Never felt like this for any Suriya movies. Forgettable experience and have to wait for Karthik Subbraj movie(KS will not disappoint for sure). Siva should stay away from Kollywood instead of wasting producer's money and star's potential .Highly disappointed , never expected such outcome.
Tough time for S fans , we have to wait for another good movie. Till then can watch Soorarai Pottru , Jai Bhim , Vaaranam Ayiram range movies . Suriya can wait and do Vaadivaasal , even if it takes 3 years it will have a monstrous box office run.

Kanguva, a highly anticipated Tamil period fantasy film, has finally hit the screens, leaving a mixed bag of reactions. While the film boasts impressive visuals and commendable performances, it falters due to a lackluster screenplay and direction.
The film's strongest points lie in its visual effects and cinematography. The VFX team has outdone themselves, creating stunning and immersive battle sequences and mythical landscapes. Vetri Palanisamy's cinematography further enhances the film's grandeur, capturing the beauty of the period setting and the intensity of the action.
Suriya delivers a solid performance in dual roles, showcasing his versatility as an actor. However, while his performance is commendable, it doesn't quite reach the heights of his acclaimed role in Soorarai Pottru. Devi Sri Prasad's music is another highlight, though it can be overwhelming at times, particularly in the louder scenes.
Unfortunately, the film's biggest downfall is its direction by Siva. The screenplay is riddled with plot holes and inconsistencies, making it difficult to engage with the story. The first 30 minutes are particularly weak, lacking any real substance or excitement. The dialogues are often cringe-worthy and fail to leave a lasting impact.
Despite its flaws, Kanguva is still a visually stunning film that offers some entertaining moments. However, it's clear that the film's potential has been squandered due to poor direction and writing. While the technical aspects are top-notch, the overall experience is marred by a lack of substance and coherence.

Kanguva is a visual masterpiece that delivers on action, emotion, and storytelling. With breathtaking visuals, intense performances, and a compelling storyline, it keeps you captivated from start to finish. Suriya sir truly shines in the role, and the director's vision brings every scene to life beautifully. The music and background score add another layer of intensity, making each moment resonate deeply with the audience. A must-watch for epic cinema lovers, this film is a brilliant combination of art and entertainment that leaves a lasting impression. I'm waiting for next part. Its a visual treat.
Title: Kanguva
Plot: Thousands of years ago, there was a powerful leader, Kanguva (Surya ), among the Pranavadi clan. Kanguva adopts Palavu, a young boy who loses his parents due to Kanguva's actions. The story unravels why Kanguva felt compelled to accept Palavu as his son, the promise he gave to Palavu, and how in the present day, Palavu escapes from a high-security lab that conducts experiments on the brain to find his way to Pranavadi (surya ). When the lab agents recapture Palavu, will Pranavadi be able to save him? The film delves into the mysterious relationship between Kanguva, Pranavadi, and Palavu.
Analysis: The first 15-20 minutes may feel somewhat confusing or pointless, but the film picks up once the character of Kanguva is introduced. Surya and Bobby Deol deliver strong performances, and the camerawork is impressive. However, the movie lacks slow-motion shots, which are usually essential in films like these. Instead, the scenes move at a jet-speed pace. The film could have benefitted from trimming about 20 minutes, and some action sequences like the ladies' fight, snake shots, and alligator fight could have used slow-motion treatment. Devi Sri Prasad's background score is intense, though some elements, like a song during the hero's elevation fight, feel unnecessary. Because of the editing and music choices, this movie ultimately becomes a one-time watch. The potential for a great movie was there, but it ended up as average. Certain scenes may come off as over-the-top.
Rating: 3/5 (Average, Good, One-time Watch)
My Take: Kanguva lacked a little bit of spice.
And hey Palavu, at least serve us some biryani in the sequel.

This film is a visual feast, showcasing beautiful, authentic period details that transport the viewer back in time. The setting and cinematography are crafted with great care, making each scene a pleasure to watch. Suriya, as always, delivers a stellar performance, embodying his character with intensity and depth. His presence brings an added layer of gravitas to the story.
However, the film's one shortfall lies in its character development. While the visuals are mesmerizing and the performances compelling, the director missed an opportunity to build a deeper connection between the audience and the characters. This lack of emotional depth slightly detracts from the overall experience, leaving some scenes feeling distant.
Still, as a theatrical experience, the film is highly enjoyable. The impressive visuals and strong acting make it worth watching on the big screen, where its grand vision truly comes alive.

Kanguva is the most hyped movie of the yea plus Surya returns to big screens after many years. Though lot of expectations the movie did not live up to the hype.
The major positive of the movie was the visuals. Never seen a Tamil movie with such fantastic visuals. Surya's acting was good. Kanguva introduction created goosebumps and the episode that adds to his into was well made.
The writing is the big let down as the main concept of the movie was reincarnation. Lot of movies has been done & dusted with this concept like magadhera, 7am arivu, Anegan & Shyam singha Roy etc. The first 20 minutes tested our patience and the comedy sequences din't worked out. There were lot of lengthy fight sequences in the movie which adds no excitement to the story. The director should have focused on periodic movie like (300, Bahubali, PS etc) but tried to blend present & past which was a very bad idea. The emotional parts also dint worked out as the lead did not do anything wrong to have the guilty and ask for forgiveness from his adopted kid. The Romans who planned to capture the 5 islands disappeared all of a sudden. The editing was very bad as there was no connection between each episode. The lead character tribe goes to forest and encounters a fight and same thing continues again for another fight which feels repetitive. DSP music in few places was good and some scenes were let down. The climax fight with 1 vs 500 was unconvincing. Too much of sentimental stuffs in a periodic action movie looks cringe. Siva should start collaborating with writers for upcoming movies and focus only on direction which he does well.
Once watchable for the visuals and Surya's performance.

The movie is about promise, forgiveness, and betrayal. The story takes place in two different timelines: one in the past and one in the present. The film stars Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani.
The movie's main strength is the impressive direction by Siva, who delivers one of the best works in Indian cinema. Suriya's passion and dedication come through clearly, with his strong acting, screen presence, and fitness. He plays two different versions of his character across the two timelines, and he does it very well. There are many action and emotional scenes, and Suriya shines in them all. Bobby Deol, as the villain, is intense and one of the best in recent times, with a strong presence. Disha Patani is her usual glamorous self. The music by DSP takes the movie to the next level, adding to its impact.
On the downside, the writing, especially in the present-day timeline, could have been better. The first 20 minutes focus on the present, but it feels slow and a bit boring. Although something important happens, it's hard to stay engaged because of weak writing. It's unclear why the present timeline wasn't developed as well as the historical one. The historical scenes are great, with only a few minor issues, like a few emotional scenes with a child that feel a bit forced. However, these don't ruin the experience.
A big drawback is that the story doesn't always explain why things are happening, so there's sometimes a lack of clear purpose. The two timelines connect by the end, but the way they connect could be clearer.
There are also some surprises and a major star cameo, which sets up the next part of the story. The whole technical team deserves praise for their hard work, and Siva's direction has surprised everyone.
Overall, I liked the movie, especially after the first 20 minutes. It's a great film to watch with family, with a mix of emotion, action, and suspense.

I watched the film expecting it to have no interesting storyline, compelling characters, or impactful dialogues. However, the film exceeded my expectations-in the worst way possible-with its ridiculous writing that tests your patience every minute.
The artists and technicians seem to have put in their best efforts, but despite all the hard work, the film fails to capture our attention due to its pathetic writing and extremely outdated storytelling by Siruthai Siva. How this director-with ideas that are lame (AF), stories that are lame (AF), writing that is lame (AF), and dialogues that are lame (AF)-manages to make high-budget movies just blows my mind.
However I figured out one unique skill of his that I genuinely admire: he manages to find the most unintelligent producer in the industry and sells them his unintelligent ideas!
Overall, the experience was like paying for great music but served with super annoying noise.

First feeling I had that this is going to be a great entertainment. Reality is far from my expectations. What a waste of producers money. I was expecting something interesting to happen for first 50mins... not even one single captivating scene. Not worth watching. Please do t waste your money / time. Very very poor plot... there is no story telling skills. It's time for retirement for Director Siva. I should agree that a lot of money spent on makeup and background setting. With no story, rest everything is just useless.
Another that messes up experience - too much western culture setup.... Entire movie is boring.

Kanguva is a most anticipated movie I also expected more in that movie but yesterday while I am seeing the movie totally I was disappointed. Total film length is 2 hrs 30 mins but it felt like 3 hrs and above very poor screenplay and story line is simple , everybody is shouting in the movie which makes us to get headache, Music and ost is also not up to the mark .
Positive : Art department , & Vfx team making wise kanguva is a strong. DOP is also good
Negative : No proper screenplay, story line , casting , music , sound design is the worst ears are paining, cameos doesn't work well.
If you want to experience this movie in theatre means go and watch for an entertainment but not to waste the money means watch it in OTT .

Rarely does a movie come along that leaves you questioning not just the plot but also the very reason for its existence. Unfortunately, Kangua is one such cinematic misstep-a chaotic hodgepodge of half-baked ideas, wooden performances, and a script that feels like it was cobbled together on the fly.
1. A Plot as Confused as Its Characters The movie's storyline is a labyrinth of clichés and plot holes. What starts as an ambitious sci-fi thriller quickly devolves into a confusing mess of unnecessary subplots. One minute, Kangua is a misunderstood scientist on the brink of a world-changing invention, and the next, he's running from cartoonish villains who lack any real motivation. The film tries to juggle too many themes-redemption, revenge, love, and existential philosophy-but ends up dropping them all.
2. Cardboard Characters Kangua boasts a cast that feels either woefully miscast or completely uninterested. The protagonist's lack of charisma makes it impossible to root for him, while the supporting characters are reduced to walking tropes-there's the overbearing boss, the obligatory love interest who has no purpose other than to support the hero, and the villain whose evil plan makes no sense whatsoever.
3. Painful Dialogue The script's dialogue deserves a category of criticism all its own. It oscillates between painfully cheesy one-liners ("Science isn't just about equations-it's about feelings!") and melodramatic monologues that drag on forever. The forced attempts at humor fall flat, leaving the audience cringing rather than laughing.
4. Visual and Technical Mediocrity One might think that a sci-fi movie could at least redeem itself with its visual effects, but Kangua fails even here. The CGI looks straight out of a low-budget video game from the early 2000s, with poorly rendered action scenes that are more laughable than thrilling. The color grading gives everything an unappealing grayish tint, and the cinematography is uninspired, with awkward camera angles and excessive slow-motion shots that feel unnecessary and dated.
5. Direction and Pacing Issues The director seems to have no control over the pacing of the film. The first act drags endlessly with exposition dumps, while the climax is rushed to a point where it feels like the filmmakers ran out of time-or ideas. Key moments that should evoke tension or emotion come across as hollow because the buildup is either absent or poorly handled.
6. Music That Adds to the Chaos The background score feels jarringly out of place, switching from bombastic orchestral pieces to EDM tracks without rhyme or reason. Rather than complementing the scenes, the music becomes a distraction, adding to the sensory overload.
7. A Lack of Originality Perhaps the most unforgivable sin of Kangua is its utter lack of originality. Borrowing liberally-and poorly-from better films, Kangua feels like a Frankenstein's monster stitched together from the carcasses of far superior works. Instead of paying homage, it feels like a cheap imitation.
Conclusion Kangua is a glaring example of how ambition without focus leads to disaster. Despite its lofty promises of a thought-provoking, action-packed sci-fi adventure, it delivers little more than frustration and regret. This film isn't just bad; it's an endurance test for anyone brave enough to sit through it. Save yourself the trouble-skip Kangua and spend your time revisiting classics that know how to get it right.
Rating: 1/5 Disclaimer: That one star is purely for the effort it must have taken to finish this train wreck.
