The hit London revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard is heading to Broadway later this year and bringing star Nicole Scherzinger and the rest of the West End principal cast with it.

As Deadline’s Baz Bamigboye revealed before Christmas, Scherzinger will make her Broadway debut reprising her acclaimed performance as Norma Desmond.

Although production dates and venue are still to be announced, producers said today that the musical will star Scherzinger along with her West End castmates Tom Francis (as Joe Gillis), Grace Hodgett-Young (Betty Schaefer) and David Thaxton (Max Von Mayerling).

In addition to preview and opening night dates, additional casting will be announced shortly. A fall 2024 opening has been widely speculated.

In “A Soldier’s Play,” Captain Richard Davenport isn’t meant to sing. But when you cast legendary baritone Norm Lewis in the role, you take advantage of his talents. Lewis can be seen in the national touring production, currently playing at L.A.’s Ahmanson Theatre — and it’s thanks to director Kenny Leon that audiences get to hear Davenport sing at certain points it the show.

Written by Charles Fuller, “A Soldier’s Play” is set on an Army base in 1944, when the military is still segregated. Captain Davenport, a rare Black officer, is sent to investigate the shooting of Sergeant Vernon Waters. Though Black himself, Waters despises and persecutes Black men who he feels perpetuate old-fashioned stereotypes.

Emmerdale star Dale Meeks has died aged 47, his family has said.

The actor played Simon Meredith in the ITV soap Emmerdale from 2003-2006. Mr Meeks also starred in Cbbc show Byker Grove and ITV true crime drama The Hunt for Raoul Moat, which aired just last week.

The 47-year-old’s death was announced by a family member in a post on Facebook. His cause of death has not been revealed.

The post read: “So unbelievably sad. Brother in Law, mucca, side kick and just the Best friend a lad could have wished for. Rip Dale Meeks. So much less to laugh about now you’re not there to share it with.

“Thanks everyone for all the beautiful messages and memories you have been sharing. The support of Dale’s friends has been so incredibly strong over these chaotic, heartbreaking final hours, I can only stand in awe.”

Three of the nation’s great regional theaters will change ownership this month, with the Ambassador Theatre Group acquiring San Francisco’s Golden Gate and Orpheum theatres and Detroit’s Fisher Theatre from The Nederlander Co.

The transaction is scheduled to close on March 29. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition was announced jointly today by Nederlander and Atg’s parent company International Entertainment Holdings Limited.

In a statement, Robert Nederlander, Sr. said, “These unique venues have been home to Broadway’s greatest shows, serving local and regional audiences for generations. We are confident that the Atg team will continue to look after the strong foundation that we have created with these theatres in their respective communities and to take them into this next decade with great success.”

The three venues represent two of the country’s top touring cities for Broadway shows. Nederlander has overseen the venues’ operations for more than 50 years.

Eight-time Oscar winning composer and lyricist Alan Menken is set to pen the music and score to Skydance Animation’s upcoming musical fantasy Spellbound.

Menken will team with lyricist and frequent collaborator Glenn Slater and music producer Chris Montan.

Directed by Vicky Jenson and written by Lauren Hynek & Elizabeth Martin (Mulan) and Linda Woolverton, Spellbound follows a young girl who must break the spell that has split her kingdom in two.

Menken is known for his award-winning work on Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Little Shop of Horrors, Pocahontas, Newsies, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Enchanted and Tangled. His work also includes the onstage musicals Little Shop of Horrors, A Christmas Carol, A Bronx Tale and Sister Act as well as adaptations of his film work including Newsies.

The tour launched in Fall 2018, and continues this week in Nashville, Tn at Tpac June 19-24, followed by the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis, Mn next week, June 26-July 1. The musical, mega-composer Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sequel to his record-breaking smash “Phantom of the Opera,” is showing signs of life on the road in the U.S., where the title is turning heads at the box office after a dispiritingly brief premiere engagement on the West End eight years ago.

“We’ve got eight shows on the road right now, and ‘Love Never Dies’ is outselling them all,” said Randy Buck, CEO of Troika Entertainment, the touring musical producer with road versions of “An American in Paris” and “On Your Feet!” among its stable. “Love” is doing so well, in fact, that Buck cops to bigger dreams for the show.

The rumors were circulating but the press release that just arrived in my inbox confirms that Lionsgate will be releasing Return of the Living Dead 3 on Blu-Ray in November with the uncut version. We got the final specs and artwork for you down below. For those of you keeping track, Return of the Living Dead 3 will be #4 in the Vestron Video Collector’s Series Blu-Ray collection. These are limited edition but no numbers have been said so who knows how long these will be on the shelves.

The iconic Aussie film Muriel.s Wedding is set to become a musical for the Sydney Theatre Company.

The film.s original writer and director, Pj Hogan, will be adapting the screenplay for the stage show, bringing Muriel Heslop.s story into the present day.

The Phantom of the Opera is not only the longest running musical in Broadway history, but also one of the most successful shows internationally. In 2010, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber premiered a sequel of the musical London's West End with such stars as Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo. Love Never Dies, which has since successfully played in Australia where it was filmed and released on DVD, Denmark and Japan, and will tour in the Us in 2017, is now coming to the stage in Germany. Sierra Boggess rocketed to musical theatre stardom when she originated the role of Christine Daae in 2006's Phantom The Las Vegas Spectacular. She has returned to the iconic role of Christine Daae for the West End production of Love Never Dies, the 25th Anniversary Concert of The Phantom Of The Opera at London's Royal Albert Hall, and the 25th Anniversary of The Phantom Of The Opera at Broadway's Majestic Theatre. Along the way, she has also starred as Ariel in Disney Theatricals' The Little Mermaid and Fantine in Les Miserables, among others. Recently, Broadway Records released her charming debut album, Awakening Live at 54 Below, which was recorded during her August 2013 cabaret debut at the prized intimate venue.

Ramin Karimloo is no stranger to the stage, he's had an impressive career making a name for himself in productions such as The Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies and Les Miserables on the West End. That said, Karimloo has yet to perform in a production on a Toronto stage, despite spending most of his childhood growing up in Richmond Hill and attending Toronto theatre.
