This documentary about the hunt for serial killer Alfredo Prieto is viewed principally through the eyes of the mothers of two of his victims: Rachael Raver and Veronica Jefferson. Both were raped and murdered by Prieto in 1988. It took a long time to trace the killer, but when he was found, Prieto was already on death row in California, having been convicted of murdering a teenage girl.
Prieto had committed many more crimes including other murderers. He was tried for the double murder of Rachael Weaver and her lover Warren Fulton, but not for the Jefferson murder, although evidence of that was raised at the penalty phase of the 2008 trial. At the time of writing, this animal is still alive, which begs the question why?
It may not be easy for a sensitive individual like you dear reader to watch a mother grieve for her murdered daughter, but the worst thing about this documentary is the revelation that a police officer on his way to work saw Prieto at the wheel of Veronica Jefferson's car with her in the passenger seat. Even though he thought Prieto may have been drunk due to his recklessness he didn't stop the car or phone in the sighting. Had he done so, two, perhaps three of Prieto's victims may still have been alive today.
