During development the real names of Dawood Ibrahim and other characters were used, but following the trailer the film went through troubles and hence all names except Manya's were changed.
The lyrics of the song Laila were changed from Le Legi to Loot Legi due to censors objection.
Vivek Oberoi was offered the part of Dawood Ibrahim and was going through the script but a long wait from his side with no positive response made Sanjay Gupta sign Sonu Sood for the role.
Isaque Bhagwan who did encounter of Manya Surve after watching the films promo felt that the story is incorrect and not what he had narrated to Sanjay Gupta it was more of fiction.An dissociated himself from the film.
The original choice for Manya Suvrve was Saif Ali Khan,Vidya Balan was offered to play Kangana's part,Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff who gave many hits to gather this was their comeback film to gather after 12 years last being Lajja in 2001,In the song Laila John has been given a look quite similar to Amitabh Bachchan's Hum coincidently in real life he was big fan of Amitabh Bachchan.
