For Satish Kaushik, who has been a part of countless comedies in his stint as an actor in 100 odd films, it was clear from the very onset that Gang Of Ghosts had to improvise a lot over the original Bengali film Bhooter Bhabishyat. For starters, he made sure that none of his actors underplayed their act and the film was much faster paced as well as vibrant.I loved Bhooter Bhabishyat. I think its core plotline is just fantastic. However, if you watch the whole film, it was on...

For 20000 odd audience at Mahalaxmi Race Course, it was one 'ghostly' sight that would be unforgettable for time to come. Thankfully, there was ample fun element in it as well that diluted the scare factor that is otherwise associated with ghostly sagas. "That happened yesterday when out of a sudden, a bunch of 'Ghost Riders' arrived out of nowhere," comments an observer, "As it turned out, these ghosts were the likes of Mahie Gill, Meera Chopra, Jacky Shroff, Chunky Pandey and Saurabh Shukla. Since each one of them plays a ghost from different eras in Gang of Ghosts, it was widely felt that their spooky appearance amidst much fanfare would not just bring in humor to all the clamor at the race course but also aid in bringing added eyeballs for the film." This is the reason why director Satish Kaushik and his producer partner Ratan Jain were thrilled when...

It had seemed that clash of ghosts had been averted, what with Amitabh Bachchan's Bhoothnath Returns getting a solo arrival once Satish Kaushik's Gang of Ghosts decided to arrive a week earlier. However, it is back to ghosts meeting each other in theatres, what with Gang of Ghosts being further advanced by a week and now all set for a face/off with Ragini Mms 2. "Yes, Ratan Jain and Satish Kaushik's Gang of Ghosts would now arrive on March 21. This is the same day that Ekta Kapoor had fixed for her sequel of Ragini Mms. There are indeed a lot of ghosts in the air," quips our source. Incidentally, despite ghosts in there, genre of both films is quite distinct. "Balaji's Ragini Mms 2 is being marketed as a 'horrex' affair, and has ample elements of horror and erotica in there. On the other hand, Gang...

Not many Bengali films make it out of Calcutta and pierce the international film consciousness, however, one very recent film got close. Anik Dutta's Bhooter Bhabishyat was one of the best received Bengali mainstream films in recent memory, and thanks to a fully subtitled, good looking print on YouTube, a lot of people who normally wouldn't care got to see it. Mumbai, April 27: Satish Kaushik, who is directing "Gang Of Ghosts", the Hindi remake of Bengali film "Bhooter Bhabishyat", says it was a conscious decision to keep out the original cast, and retain only Parambrata Chatterjee from it.
"Bhooter Bhabishyat", released in 2012, is one of Bengali cinema's biggest hits of all times. It is about ghosts in an old bungalow who refuse to evict their abode to make way for a shopping mall.
From the original cast of the blockbuster directed by Anik Dutta, only Parambrata, who made a strong impact as Vidya Balan's cop-companion in the cruel climate of Kolkata in "Kahaani", will be seen.
