This nonsense should be studied in film school on how to not make a film. A fifth grade drama class could write and direct a more entertaining film. It took two writers to come up with a story that's been done thousands of times before, and all much better. The story was so cliched, dull, generic, and predictable, and dragged out endlessly with horribly slow pacing and an uneventful narrative, that the normally comfortable runtime felt endless.
At the halfway mark, I felt like I spent half a day binging a boring TV series. Then you have director Tom DeNucci manage to make the very few action scenes boring and cringeworthy, and he clearly failed to direct his cast properly, especially Tyrese Gibson, who looked and sounded bored and like he was falling asleep. To call this nonsense a B-film is an insult to B-films. Whoever funded this mess clearly needed a tax write-off. Don't get drawn in by the few well-known cast, them being in this does zero to elevate this film, and I'm sure they're regretting it, no matter how big their paycheck was. It's a generous 3/10 all going to Don Johnson and Ben-Victor, the only two actors that held their own even with the terrible writing and directing they had to work with.

I don't even know where to begin! The production quality of this film is actually pretty good, except for the clearly fake fight scenes and weaponry. It is extremely slow paced, predictable, and just generally boring. I stuck it out till the end in hopes that it would improve. Unfortunately, it was a waste of my time. The couple of characters that I actually recognized in this film did a lackluster job of acting. The other people that I've never heard of in my life, did a similarly pitiful job with their characters. There has got to be a better show to watch on a premium movie channel then this ridiculousness!

I watched with a friend who worked on the crew and he paid. That's the best thing I can say about it. Lucas Till is about as intimidating as a ballet dancer. He's supposed to be some hot-shot killer - NOT! The story is poorly constructed and poorly written. The actors spit out words that are flat and uninspiring. The direction (this guy gets hired by people who must be clueless) is flat and poorly staged, even after doing their best to mimic MATRIX-like shooting scenes. Ruby Rose was not into it. Don Johnson must be in dire straights to work on these low budget films. The rest of the cast was equally bad - retreads from this Dinucci guy's other bad movies.
Beware ! This is NOT a Don Johnson picture. They tricked me into watching because (the still cool) Don Johnson was on the poster. But he is nowhere to be seen in this picture. Blink once with your eyes and you will miss him.
This is a 100% C-movie. Not a B-movie, but a C-movie. It is ridiculously terrible. Such a waste of time of writing this review, but I wanna warn other Don Johnson fans, that they dont fall into the same trap I fell into.
Don Johson still rocks at his old age. He recently made "High Heat", which was surprisingly good fun and thrilling to watch. Action was solid. Some good jokes. My advice: go watch that movie if you are into Don Johnson, instead of this rubbish product called "The Collective"...

I wanted to like this film, I really did. Putting Lucas Till and Tyrese Gibson on screen together it could've been so good. But the script feels lazily written and the action sequences are awful. There is no intention and no proper camera framing, action scenes have to be framed so that you follow one central character, and the camera tracks him moving, the way it's done in John Wick or Accident Man.
Then also there is no pizazz it feels more like a CW TV show than a film and even they have you more engaged. Also lastly there is zero character development, like who is Sam, why should we like, we just see him fight, if you can call it that, the fight choreography was limited, and the stunt team came across like they were told to treat it like a Karate exam aka act like a dummy.
Also why isn't Tyrese Gibson hinted at you don't find out about him until you do, it's like suddenly he's there. Quite frankly the film just feels lazy, like someone was making a point or like a half done project for history class at high-school, about independent spy organisations.

Yeah, I barely made it halfway.
Ruby Rose is just terrible in everything; I have no idea how she got the golden ticket to Hollywood or how she keeps getting gigs. I guess when your first feature film as a lead is deemed unwatchable (Batwoman) you will take what you can get.
I have no clue who the lead guy is, but he seriously looks like the Team America version of Matt Damon.
Now the sad part for me is seeing Don Johnson in this dreck.
Now I know how my parents and grandparents felt when they started seeing the actors and actresses, they loved growing up taking roles in awful films at the end of their careers. :/
If you can make it all the way through this, I commend you.

Yes.
Terrible acting by literally all of them in this film.
It's so corny, so unbelievably bad.
The plot must have been thought up in minutes, it's that bad.
I can't think of one thing in this film that was remotely interesting or watchable, even the background music is pathetic.
Don Johnson must be skint to be this desperate to be in a film. I did laugh when he signed some papers and tries to hand the pen back to his assistant, only she had already gone,
The female villains had me in stitches laughing at them. One of them actually said "have fun bleeding out..." I cringed it was that bad, even worse than her back lipstick. Yes, the baddie girl had back lipstick.
I knew it was going to be a terrible film when I first seen Sam's shirt under that leather jacket.
Only watch this if you want to laugh at how bad a film can be.

Investigating and bringing to justice human traffickers is a good idea for a plot. I am sure it would make a real good movie someday. Add to that a kind of "MI double-trouble rip off" hostage person has intel about out agents and we need to get him before others get him. OK, that could work too.
But.... it doesn't work in this mess of a movie. Its a yawn. That new gay MacGyver kid could have shined here, he does have a casual manner that could work. But...his "stealth" intro segment is so bad, he is stalking but crunching leaves and ground cover under every step as he approaches his target area. The baddies are 25 yards away, I guess that's the tragic-I mean magic of movies. He's a loud ninja against deaf henchmen. The combat knife bad-girl was the worst actress I've ever seen. There are a lot of tactical errors, hit squads approach in vans right up to the target house... with headlights on? This base of operations house has no surveillance? Of any kind? It's that important. Oh, boy.
Tonight, in truth, watched it to see just how bad it was, so I could write a review here. The thing that boggles the mind is the lineup of cast actors. Poorly used name talent here. Top grade actors are being put into these looser productions - there is a lot of them as of late! Don't understand the studio/production financing mindset that green lit these, Do they really think they will make any money in return??
The Collective...stupidity~? No, flat out stupidity.

I watch at least 4-5 Movies a week and have, most of the time done a review each time but this time I didn't watch the movie in its entirety and I most certainly wasn't going to bother with a review because I couldn't get further than about 35 minutes into the movie. I couldn't even give it a single star. From the start, the script, the acting was pretty poor the sound effects and stunt action was less than mediocre. The fact that there were a few big names wasn't enough to make it even worth my effort to watch more than I could stomach. I couldn't actually even say that I understood the whole premise of the Movie but I was not prepared to even try to understand it because what I did see had nothing to redeem it from anything but the "cutting room floor". The $8 million production cost and the $2 million cast + was IMO a total waste of someone's money. The movie is so bad I have to stop myself from continuing to review this Movie for fear of dying of old age before I finish.
This is a low budget indie action movie, so no need to compare it to big blockbusters! I really loved the straight forward action without tedious subplots and tonz of CGI!
Lucas Till is an outstanding actor and he really carried this movie with his natural talent added to his charming good looks. The interaction between hin and the other lead actors and especially with Tyrese Gibson and Don Johnson are terrific! I would have loved to get a little more background of the characters but that could easily be remedied in a sequel! The ending felt as if there is room for some more action, so I am really looking forward to The Collective 2 and probably a whole franchise!

The reviews for this are just insane. I think people went in expecting John Wick 5 or something.
The scenes, conversations and stories add up just fine. I was expecting some real awkward talk, but it's all pretty fine actually. I think this goes into a B+ movie category. There are some scenes that could have been improved, had better topics. But they are funny the way they were made.
This is pretty entertaining to watch, ignore all the extreme negativity, don't expect John Wick ofcourse. But the action is about the same kind of silly and fun.
The pace is pretty good and is it definitely not as bad as the reviews here make it out to be. It's just a simple action movie.

I managed barely 10 min in...
performance of the actors is horrible
The producer and the cast .. must have been on some psychedelic drug...
That someone even had the nerve to release this is amazing !
With this eras possibilities I thought is was almost impossible to mess up this bad.
Bad acting, bad script, bad filming bad everything
Being a b-actor does not mean you have to choose going into this lower lever of trash but I guess everything has an ending.
This movie makes everything Don J ever done before look amazing and something to look at once again... If I just had the time to do it.

This movie is so bad they literally hired the lover from the Hannah Montana Movie to play the main character. Lmao. Plus, Roman from Fast and Furious should only act in Fast and Furious. I would rather watch all the fast and furious movies in one day without drinking water or going to the bathroom. I would rather sit outside in the Georgia heat in the middle of the summer getting bit by mosquitos rather than to watch this movie. I would rather watch the Hannah Montana movie on repeat then watch this movie, and also listen to only Wreaking Ball for 24 hours then watch this movie again ever. I would rather wear a Hawaiian shirt everyday for the rest of my life than to watch this movie. It sucks.
The director seems doesn't have vision in making this movie... He try to make a good movie, of course. But it was just trial and leave it error afterall.
There are many scene look awkward and cringe, the first one is the knife on the cage, I mean I don't feel threaten by that situation... Tyrese cringe slow motion scene...
Many plot armor, like how even the enemy can't reload their own gun... Guys with rifle apparently use it like it was short range weapon, they need to fire it not get close to the enemy...
The lines in movie are trying to be cool but make it worst, its okay to be cool but make it natural please.
And of course the detective wall of evidence and a knife on someone head, it really makes the movie very awesome right?
I don't know why Tyrese took this movie, because it was weird for seeing him in here... He have so many action movie, but this one is not even the good one. He did many cringe shot, ex. A new agent talk to his backside for try to be good shot.

This movie has absolutely no redeeming qualities. It's not even a good bad movie. It's just a really and truly awful movie that should never have been put before the public. Bad acting. Then really bad acting. Then really, really bad acting. Everybody, including Don and Tyrese, just phoning it in from a really distant galaxy over a terrible connection.
Okay, just for balance, I'll mention the single one good thing in the whole movie. A few of the panoramic shots were well done and visually interesting. The 2 female henchmen are bad in every way. Just name some criterion, any one at all, and the verdict is 'terrible.' Flat. Boring. 1 star is like ten times more than it deserves.

It mystifies me how movies this terrible actually get made. How do those working on them not grasp how ridiculously bad they are? Or do they simply not care?
Firstly, the acting was wooden and stilted throughout. Emotional connection to the characters was nonexistent. Furthermore, the characters were utterly implausible; supposedly elite intelligence operators... seemed more suited to a shift crew at Walmart. Even their wardrobe dressing was a distracting annoyance.
Secondly, the writing was just blame damned lazy. Would it really be too hard for supposedly 'professional' writers to an iota of subject matter research? Can't they use knowledgeable consultants? The script and plot were like a pre-pubescent fever dream - absolutely ridiculous. Sadly, not even bad in a funny way; just boring and annoying.
Lastly, the direction and production was infantile. It just felt that nobody gave a damn. No thought or effort seemed to be applied to making this believable or realistic. A movie about elite intelligence operators that didn't bother with even rudimentary tradecraft, field craft, tactics or skill sets. Such a dull failure.
Overall, I'd say that this movie was unwatchable. My guess is that the majority of viewers won't make it to the end. It's that bad. Really.

If you go into this movie expecting a Hollywood Blockbuster - most of which are over-the-top, unrealistic and agenda-driven these days - full of crazy CGI and whatnot, then this probably isn't the movie for you.
The Collective feels authentic, and the cast was perfectly chosen. Mercedes Varnado, in her debut feature film role, Paul Ben-Victor and Lucas Till particularly shone with their performances.
Mercedes, who plays Nikita, the knife-wielding chief of security, impressed with her athleticism, which she undoubtedly has from her wrestling background, as well as an aura and charisma that suited her role perfectly. We will be seeing a lot more of her, I'm sure.
The fight scenes were definitely the strong point in this movie and felt real - not needlessly dragged-out like in many other productions.
All in all, this can be summed up as a fun popcorn flick that I would recommend to anyone.

Good solid action story. Fast paced, and the action scenes were well choreographed. Wont win any Oscars, but it was never created for that. If you are looking for a good story with decent characters who are fighting for the right thing, this story is what you are looking for. In the end, everyone gets what they deserve. The movie does not try to pretend to be anything other than a good guys vs. Bad guys scenario. The acting is appropriate for the end. No pretentiousness and no over acting. The cast does a good job. The tension is maintained until the end. The story ends in a way that a sequel is possible, depending on the results of this story. I hope they do a sequel.
After 10 minutes I thought it may have been a joke. After 30 minutes I wanted to stop watching it but it was so bad I felt compelled to write my first review. I forced myself to watch the entire thing to give it a fair shake. There's no way they could have not known how bad this movie was before allowing people to watch it. I did whatever mental gymnastics I could to try to find redeemable qualities. But there really are none. I think that maybe if I was Amish and just jumped the fence and decided to go see my first movie... This might be an ok movie.
The story is ridiculous. Yeah I like action movies but not without a story. If I wanted to watch action without a story I'd watch someone's video of their 4th of July fireworks for 1.5 hours.

The Collective, like many other action movies that came before it, is pretty much the same as every other B-rated action movie out there. This one doesn't stand out as anything different, nor entertaining. Just a cluster of crap dialogue, a bored Tyrese, and spliced up action sequences like the Taken 3's fence jumping scene.
What really pains me is just how generic and same it is to every other action movie there is. There's the typical "evil bad guy" with the Bond villain evil plan, the usual "secret agency" that is secretive and highly skilled, and the newcomer that has a lot to learn and then becomes a bada** towards the end. Whoopi doo...
Couldn't the writers have thought of anything else that isn't just ripping off the James Bond formula? Like I've heard of so many action movies that have identical plots like this. Only this one is as generic, if not, even more painfully terrible than anything I've ever seen. At least it's not Steven Segal bad with him being untouchable and always being some edgy bada**. Still, don't think for a second that this is any bit better; it's not.
