Exclusive: Tye Sheridan (The Tender Bar) has closed a deal to star alongside Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult in AGC Studios‘ crime thriller The Order from director Justin Kurzel, which is heading into production in Alberta, Canada on May 11th.
The film adapts the book The Silent Brotherhood by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt, which chronicles the escalating crimes of the titular white supremacist domestic terror group. It’s set in 1983 amongst the series of increasingly violent bank robberies, counterfeiting operations and armored car heists that frightened communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. As baffled law enforcement agents scrambled for answers, a lone FBI agent (Law), stationed in the sleepy, picturesque town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, came to believe the crimes were not the work of traditional, financially motivated criminals, but a group of dangerous domestic terrorists, inspired by a radical, charismatic leader (Hoult), who are plotting...

By the Grace of God (François Ozon)
French director François Ozon has delivered one of the best films of his eclectic career with By the Grace of God, a drama whose seriousness and sincerity marks a tonal shift for a filmmaker typically famous for sexual and sensual provocation. Instead, this chronicle of a real-life grassroots campaign to out Catholic priests who committed and covered up of historic sexual abuse is unsensational and methodical, immaculately written through a script that radically tells three different stories that slide seamlessly together. – Ed F. The G.I. Joe franchise has long been the disappointing cousin of Transformers. While the latter has gone on to multiple sequels, spinoffs and a huge total gross at the box office, G.I. Joe has consistently underperformed. Both 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and its sequel, 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation made money, but not quite as much as Paramount hoped. As such, the franchise has been on ice for a while. But it’s being defrosted this October, in Snake Eyes.
The upcoming movie is an origin story for G.I. Joe’s resident ninja Snake Eyes. He’s one of the most popular members of the team, appearing in almost all incarnations and famed for his martial arts skills. Despite this, his origins remain hazy and everything about his past is considered classified. Even his real face is a mystery after he was disfigured on his first mission for the team.

Star Wars didn't just change Hollywood, it changed the way toys were made and marketed.
This article is presented by eBay
In A New Hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi describes the Force as an energy that surrounds and penetrates all living things, binding the galaxy together. But the venerable Jedi Master could just as easily have been talking about the power of Star Wars itself. The cultural impact of George Lucas’ creation is so vast that it created generations of fans and changed how Hollywood approached blockbuster filmmaking.
But Star Wars also changed nearly everything within the toy industry. Whether those changes will continue to be told for thousands of years—like the tales of the Jedi and Sith of old—remains to be seen in the long arc of history. But one thing is for certain, for the following brands, Star Wars was a great disturbance in the Force of their business.

There’s a point near the end of the first episode of “Joe Pera Talks With You” in Season 2 when Joe surveys his surroundings and says, “This is nice.” There’s no irony, no rug pull, no cynicism in what he says. Just one person grateful for something that hasn’t even arrived yet.
That’s the show in a nutshell: a chronicle of a guy so enthusiastic about the tiny pleasures of life that he’s even happy about potential things. Pera, as the star and frequent writer of the series, plays Joe, a resident of a Michigan city who takes the viewers through the things that fill him with wonder.
His direct-to-camera descriptions — this season covering disparate topics like beans and hiking — remain as distinct as ever. No one digs into proper nouns with the same verve as Joe does, especially when he’s detailing plant genuses and...

Director Jenifer McShane describes her new documentary Ernie & Joe: Crisis Cops as “a buddy cop film with strong social issues.”
The buddies are officers Ernie Stevens and Joe Smarro, partners in the San Antonio Police Department. The social issues have to do with the unit Ernie and Joe work in, a Crisis Intervention Team (Cit) that specializes in responding to mental health-related incidents. Early in the film Stevens and Smarro get a call about a mentally ill man pacing in a courthouse.
Instead of confronting the man aggressively, they calmly probe what’s got him disturbed. They’re dressed in plain clothes and take a seat as the man shifts nervously.
“How you doing? You okay?” Ernie asks him. “How can we help you today?”

Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that several of its original series will be debuting new episodes on the streaming service in August, including the first season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.” John Krasinski, who is red-hot following the success of his winter hit “A Quiet Place,” takes on the role of the CIA spy that has been played on the big screen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.
Likewise, there will be plenty of movies making their first appearances on Amazon Prime Video including the action comedy “Gringo,” which stars David Oyelowo as a businessman who unwittingly becomes involved with a Mexican drug cartel.
Unlike Netflix, Amazon does not disclose the shows and movies leaving the service in any given month. We’ve done some digging and unearthed a few titles that will be exiting Amazon Prime Video in the first week of August. News...

Universal Pictures is developing a new Friday Night Lights film based on the Buzz Bissinger book. This time they are looking to hire director David Gordon Green to helm the film. The director is best known for his films such as Pineapple Express, Joe, Stronger, and the upcoming Halloween sequel.
It's interesting that the studio is looking to remake the movie. Peter Berg was the director behind the fantastic 2004 film, which ended up spawning an amazingly well-made TV series that ran from 2006 to 2011. I thought for sure if there ever was another Friday Night Lights movie, it would be a continuation of that series. But, it looks like that's not going to happen.
This will be a new reimagining of the story and it hard to think that it will be better than anything that was done before. I'd ask why the studio is wanting to do this, but we...

Check out this new first image from David Gordon Green's Southern drama "Joe," starring Nicholas Cage and Tye Sheridan ("Mud"). It is based on the Larry Brown novel of the same title, following an ex-convict (Cage) who tries to be the protector of a 15-year-old newcomer (Sheridan) in his small Texas town. Principal photography of the film recently wrapped, and it is being shopped at the Berlinale film market. Green, who has favored big studio comedies over the past few years ("Pineapple Express," "Your Highness"), returned to his indie roots at this year's Sundance Film Festival, premiering two-hander "Prince Avalanche," starring Paul Rudd and Emil Hirsch, to positive reviews. Here's the "Joe" synopsis: In the dirty unruly world of small-town Texas, ex-convict Joe Ransom (Cage) has tried to put his dark past behind him and to live a simple life. He works for a lumber company by day, drinks by.
