British actress Barbara Shelley has passed away from Covid-19 related ailments. She was 88 years-old. Shelley became popular with horror movie fans in the 1960s when she became one of the resident leading ladies at the legendary Hammer Films where she made several movies with another studio legend, Christopher Lee. Among Shelley's Hammer films were "The Camp on Blood Island" (a rare non-horror entry), "The Gorgon", "Dracula: Prince of Darkness", "Rasputin: The Mad Monk" and "Quatermass and the Pit". Shelley played the lead female role in the 1960 MGM cult classic "Village of the Damned" opposite George Sanders. She also played a recurring character in the 1984 "Doctor Who" television series. She appeared in other iconic British television shows including "Blake's 7", "The Avengers", "EastEnders", "Danger Man", "The Saint" "Man in a Suitcase" and "The Two Ronnies" as well as international favorites including "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and "Route 66". Paramount Pictures will be parting ways with Robert Evans’ production shingle, Robert Evans Productions, after the studio decided not to renew the deal earlier this month.
“Bob Evans has been an iconic part of the Paramount legacy for over half a century,” a spokesperson for Paramount told TheWrap. “His contributions to the studio and film industry have been innumerable, from ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ to ‘The Godfather,’ to ‘Love Story,’ to name just a few. Today we mark the end of our formal relationship with Bob as a producer, but his legacy will endure in our studio and in our hearts. There aren’t words to express our gratitude and reverence for the man whose name is synonymous with this company and the magic of movies.”
The spokesperson added: “We’re proud to announce the dedication of the Robert Evans Screening Room, may many more generations of film lovers share his passion for great cinema.

Directed by in 1966 by John Gilling (The Saint), The Reptile is one of two Hammer Horror films released today (July 30) by Scream Factory. (The other is Lust for a Vampire.) This film is a hard one to describe, but I'll try. A small Cornish village sets the scene, where strange deaths take place, one after the other. Victims are found blackened after having been bitten and having foamed at the mouth. Harry Spalding arrives to the village to investigate the death of his brother, who died in this horrific manner, of course. He takes up residence with his wife, and naturally, the superstious townspeople won't talk to him until they're forced to, with the bodies piling up here there,...

Chris Pratt is in talks with Paramount Pictures to star in a reboot of the action franchise The Saint. If things work out, the studio is hoping to build a franchise around the character Simon Templar.
Templar is kinda like Robin Hood in that he robs from the criminally rich and gives to the poor and deserving. Of course, he makes sure to keep a percentage for himself! “His strict moral code makes him target those who got their wealth through nefarious means - corrupt politicians, warmongers and the like. His criminal activities put him at odds with the law, but his wit, charm and intelligence tends to keeps him one step ahead of the police.”

The Saint might be headed back to the big screen, with Chris Pratt in the lead role.
Chris Pratt is in early negotiations with Paramount Pictures to take the lead in a new movie reboot of The Saint. According to Deadline, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is aiming to bring Simon Templar back, with Pratt the current frontrunner for the role.
Created by Leslie Charteris in a series of books in the 1920s, Templar is a super-suave, ultra-charming vigilante – sort of like an unofficial James Bond without an official licence to kill. The books were first adapted into a radio series and a string of films in the 1940s, but the character became most well known in the 1960s thanks to Roger Moore’s starring role in the long-running British TV series.

Paramount Pictures is in early negotiations with Chris Pratt to star in a movie reboot of “The Saint,” two decades after Val Kilmer’s thriller and 50 years after Roger Moore’s TV series.
Pratt’s deal is not closed. He became a worldwide star after headlining Disney-Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies and “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) and its upcoming sequel (2019). He also starred in “Passengers” with Jennifer Lawrence, and long-running NBC sitcom “Parks and Recreation.”
The studio secured a deal for book series rights in 2016 and set up a producing deal with Lorenzo di Bonaventura with the goal of starting an action franchise.
“The Saint” is based on Leslie Charteris’ book series, which follow the debonair Simon Templar character first introduced in the 1928 novel “Meet the Tiger,” followed by “Enter the Saint” in 1930. Templar stole from corrupt politicians and warmongers, leaving a calling card of a stick figure with a halo.

Shia Labeouf just might have a future as a screenwriter if he ever gets tired of acting: The “Transformers” star has made it to the quarterfinals of the Page International Screenwriting Awards, a contest for up-and-coming screenwriters.
Labeouf has a bragging point most of his fellow quarterfinalists don’t: His feature film script, “Honey Boy,” is in production at Automatik Entertainment, where Brian Kavanaugh-Jones is a producing partner. Lucas Hedges will star alongside Labeouf.
That might seem like a built-in advantage, but Page executive director Kristin Overn said the contest, which has attracted some big names in the past, is judged anonymously so that no one benefits or is unfairly judged for having a famous name.

Development continues on a new TV series based on author Leslie Charteris' crime-fighting vigilante 'Simon Templar' aka "The Saint":
The script is based on the works of author Leslie Charteris, focusing on master thief/vigilante 'Simon Templar'.
The character has been featured in a long-running series of books by Charteris published between 1928 and 1963.
Rko owns the rights to several films based on "The Saint", including the 1938 feature "The Saint in New York".
"The Saint" has previously been adapted for several motion pictures, radio dramas, comic strips, comic books and three television series.
Templar is known as 'The Saint' because of his initials (St) and because his heroic exploits fly in the face of an otherwise nefarious reputation. Templar has aliases, often using the initials 'S.T.' such as 'Sebastian Tombs' or 'Sugarman Treacle'.
