James Gunn had pitched 'CREATURE COMMANDOS' before he took over DC. Gunn then greenlit the project himself when he became the CEO of the DC Studios.
The artists initially designed Belle Reve prison to be a "beautiful Gothic hilltop locale", but James Gunn told them that it had be the "dull, boring building" design from The Suicide Squad (2021).
The events of the series carry over into Superman (2025).
This will be the first project released in James Gunn and Peter Saffran's DC Universe.
The main titles music uses an instrumental version of Moliendo Café (Grinding Coffee) a Venezuelan song from 1959.
