As a resident of Western New York, the weather can get a little dicy this time of year. It's dark, cold and we typically cannot go anywhere when we get hit with at least a foot a snow a week. So, I choose to embark on watching Star Wars: The Bad Batch with my 8-year-old daughter.
Following up on her introduction with the series' trailers, we started in the beginning with the opening episode, "Aftermath." From the beginning, Brooklyn, my daughter was hooked. She particular fell in love and related instantly to the character of Omega. My wife and I also both loved the addition of Omega to the clone group's dynamic.
As the Bad Batch worked for the Empire at the start of the series, Brooklyn started asking, "They aren't bad guys, right?" She was very worried if the Batch themselves would work for the Empire or choose to the right side.

No matter how things may go for Lioness‘ badass Bobby in the Season 2 finale streaming this Sunday, the Paramount+ espionage drama has been a mission accomplished for Jill Wagner.
Years ago, the former Wipeout co-host and Hallmark/Gaf movies vet was reflecting on her career — and her status as a fortysomething actress — when, with a nudge from her husband and his experience with military intelligence, she became well-versed on the real-life Lioness program. She eventually pitched a series to the prolific Taylor Sheridan, her former acting coach, and now here we are.

The last time Jesse Malin performed in New York, in March 2023, he jumped off the stage at Webster Hall, waded through the crowd, and ended up singing atop the bar at the rear of the venue in a punk-rock display of sweaty artist-fan communion. Malin’s sold-out performance Sunday night at the Beacon Theatre — his first public concert since suffering a paralyzing spinal stroke last year — looked a little different than past gigs but bristled with that same punk spirit and sense of community.

Snoop Dogg keeps ‘em coming. A week after releasing “Outta da Blue” and a month after dropping “Gorgeous,” the Doggfather is back again with “Another Part of Me,” a Sting-featuring duet that arrives as the latest single from his upcoming album, Missionary.
Produced by Dr. Dre and The ICU, “Another Part of Me” kicks off with a mock-live feel, with a crowd cheering as a grooving reimagination of “Message in a Bottle” plays, anchored by the song’s iconic guitar riff. Snoop then enters with auto-tuned vocals, singing a melody inspired by The Police’s original, before settling into his signature rap flow.

Killswitch Engage have announced their ninth studio album, This Consequence, out February 21st via Metal Blade Records. The veteran metal band has also unveiled the lead single and video “Forever Aligned.”
KsE come out of the gate with a brutal thrash groove on the new song, eventually hitting a melodic flourish just over 90 second in. That preludes a melodic chorus that sees frontman Jesse Leach drop the harsh vocals for a full-throated croon, as the band traverses the many facets of its sound across the track’s four-minute span.

“‘Forever Aligned’ is one of those songs that is not just about us as humans, our love, and connection, but that connection to the unknown, the greater power, the universe, or God,” said Leach via a press release. “It feels like a really good first song to release not just sonically, but lyrically, as it is all about connection.

The Rolling Stones‘ songs are in so many movies, but Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! is not one of them. A controversial Rolling Stones track was going to serve as a villain song in the movie. That wasn’t in the cards. However, the connection between The Rolling Stones and Moulin Rouge! did not stop there.
1 song by The Rolling Stones was kept out of ‘Moulin Rouge!’ for non-artistic reasons
The soundtrack of Moulin Rouge! includes songs from many different genres, including pop, soul, and Broadway music, but it’s at its best when it recontextualizes classic rock songs as show tunes. The film includes hits by The Beatles, Nirvana, Queen, David Bowie, Elton John, U2, Kiss, Joe Cocker, Paul McCartney & Wings, and The Police. In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly, music supervisor Anton Monsted revealed that several songs were kept out of the final cut of the film, including...

Daniel and Chozen were in for some major shocks in Cobra Kai’s latest batch of episodes, but they definitely didn’t expect this.
After following the man who abducted Daniel to a spa, they couldn’t believe their eyes amid the steamy air and roar of hot tub jets: Terry Silver was back. “What would life be without a few surprises?” Silver asked the speechless group of senseis, which also included Kim Da-Eun and John Kreese. And with that, the stakes of the Sekai Taikai were raised even higher, as Miyagi-Do (and Cobra Kai) scrambled to get ahead of Silver’s next moves.

The exploitation of human lives in the armed forces is as topical a problem as is reckless, rampant usage of private militia by the government, oligarchs, and conglomerates to do their dirty deeds—and trying to combine these two issues, director Patrick Lussier initially seemed to be on to something with his latest action thriller, Aftermath. However, having an interesting premise doesn’t really guarantee that the narrative is going to be engaging as well, as seems to be the case with Aftermath, as the movie fails to get viewers remotely interested about the characters or the story itself. Poor characterization, a crisis that makes less sense the more the situation escalates, a generic lead, and a bad guy who is so over the top that it’s borderline funny—the movie has almost nothing positive going for it. Aside from a couple of decently choreographed action sequences, there is...

Netflix’s Hijack ’93 is a riveting new release that dramatizes a true incident from Nigerian history—an audacious hijacking that shook the country in October 1993. Here’s a closer look at the real-life events that inspired the film and the reasons this act of defiance is remembered by some as heroic.
Political Turmoil in Nigeria: The Road to Hijack ’93
The hijacking of Nigeria Airways Flight 764 came during a period of intense political unrest in Nigeria. In the 1980s and 1990s, the nation experienced a series of coups that undermined its democracy, as military leaders claimed power time and again. In 1993, a hopeful shift seemed on the horizon as Nigeria held its first elections in over a decade. Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, a leader of the Social Democratic Party, won by a landslide, but the military government annulled the results, claiming security risks. This decision ignited mass protests, as...

Plenty of country superstars are putting their money where their mouths are and helping with the hurricane relief effort. One of those superstars is none other than Morgan Wallen, who recently did what he could and more to bring hope to (and inspire) recent hurricane victims.
Hurricane Damage Has Forever Changed Many Lives
This hurricane season has been brutal for many people, families, and animals, as Hurricane Helene and others have caused irreparable damage to lives in places they tore through. With many states feeling the weight in the aftermath, it is a struggle for many to pick up the pieces and attempt to rebuild.
Most eyes are now on Hurricane Milton, but, even as that is going on, all those hit by Hurricane Helene are still struggling to put the pieces of their lives back together, especially in states like North Carolina, South Carolina, East Tennessee, and Georgia.

Voltage Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to the action comedy Under Fire starring Dylan Sprouse and Mason Gooding from Aftermath and will launch worldwide sales at American Film Market (AFM) in Las Vegas next month.
The film follows two undercover agents – DEA agent Abbott (Sprouse) and an FBI agent Griff (Gooding) – posing as rival drug dealers at the Mexico border.
Initially unaware of each other’s identities in what should have been a routine drug deal, the agents are caught in a deadly ambush and must team up in order to survive.

Dylan Sprouse’s Gritty Return in Aftermath Former child star Dylan Sprouse, widely recognized for his roles in Big Daddy and the Disney Channel hit The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, is poised for a comeback in the upcoming action thriller Aftermath. This film marks a significant shift from the lighthearted roles Sprouse became famous for in his youth, as he now embraces a more mature, gritty persona in his early 30s. In Aftermath, Sprouse portrays Eric, a war veteran suffering from Ptsd, a challenging and emotional role that pushes him into new territory as an actor. The plot centers around Eric and his younger sister Madeleine, played by Megan Stott, who is best known for her work in Penelope. The siblings are driving home from Boston’s Tobin Bridge when they find themselves caught in an unforeseen and dangerous situation—a nightmarish traffic jam. A group of armed men,...

"You really think you can stop 'em?" "I know I can." Voltage Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for an action thriller survival film called Aftermath, also known as simply The Bridge for release in a few other countries. From director Patrick Lussier, this is set for release in November including arriving on digital VOD right away. Trapped on Boston's Tobin Bridge after a bomb explodes, a former Army Ranger must use his elite training to save his sister and all the other hostages from a group of vengeful ex-military contractors that are led by an unhinged war criminal. Aftermath stars Dylan Sprouse, Mason Gooding, Dichen Lachman, Mark Irvingsen, Shahjehan Khan, Will Lyman, & Megan Stott. It reminds me of the other trapped-on-a-bridge action thriller from this week called Armor starring Stallone. Though I gotta say - this film looks way better. A real big bridge with tons of people, lots of trickery,...

Here’s the new Viewfinder List, the entertainment industry survey which polls studio executives, producers and creatives for their top 10 short films, commercials and/or music videos. This is similar to The Black List, as the Viewfinder List honors short form content and the directors who made them. The list was created by producer Jeff Schroeder, Aaron Schmidt (Langley Park Pictures) and Patrick Chu (FilmNation). In recent years, some of the shorts have been optioned and some of their directors have gotten jobs — and hey, the attention never hurts. This year’s top vote-getter, Fool’s Day, was directed by Cody Blue Snider, the son of Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider. Here is the website where it is possible to watch the shorts:
