Fans of Hideo Kojima were truly feasting during last night’s State Of Play event. Not only were we treated to a pretty freaky Death Stranding 2 gameplay trailer, but Playstation also announced a brand new IP in collaboration with Kojima.

The project goes by the name of Physint, and while we know very little at this point, we know enough to get proper excited.

It seems that the project will be a spiritual successor for Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid franchise. Those rights are still held by Konami, but Physint is being described as “next-generation action espionage game”.

During last night’s State Of Play, one of the biggest surprises was the gameplay trailer for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2. And blimey, what a trailer that is.

With news that Supermassive’s Until Dawn is getting a film adaptation, the rumour mill is spinning up news that the title could be coming to PlayStation 5 and PC. Not only that, but Death Stranding 2 will be getting an official title.

Per French website Dealabs, an announcement regarding Until Dawn coming to the PS5 and PC is coming “within 15 days”. There’s unfortunately not much more information on this version of Until Dawn, though one could suspect that if the game is making the leap, it would feature graphical enhancements to take advantage of the PS5 hardware. None of this has been confirmed as of yet by Sony or Supermassive.

Meanwhile, Dealabs also mentions that Death Stranding 2, which was announced back at The Game Awards 2022, has an official title. Much like Until Dawn, an announcement about the game is expected within the next 15 days, possibly during a State of Play event.

Recently, developer Insomniac Games was targeted by a hacking group that stole over 1 TB of internal data from the company and reportedly demanded around $2 million dollars for that information’s return. When that demand was not met, the group released the stolen data (which consisted of over 1.3 million files) online.

This is one of the largest leaks in the history of the video game industry in terms of both the quantity of leaked data and what, exactly, was included in those files. The leaked information includes everything from Insomniac’s upcoming intended release schedule for the next several years to the complete story breakdown for their upcoming Wolverine project. Crucially, the leak also includes the personal information of numerous Insomniac employees. According to the official synopsis, the movie will “delve into the mysteries surrounding the apocalyptic event called the ‘Death Stranding,’ which blurred the lines between life and death, and brought forth nightmarish creatures into a world on the brink of collapse.”

In a statement, the esteemed video game designer explained why he chose to work with the production company. “A24 was born into this world about 10 years ago, their presence is singular within the industry, they are like no other,” he said. “The films they are delivering to the world are high in quality and very innovative. I have been attracted to their creations and they have even inspired my own work. Their innovative approach to storytelling aligns with what Kojima Productions has been doing for the last 8 years.

The feature will be based on the hit video game, which starred Norman Reedus.

It’s official: A24 are partnering up with Hideo Kojima for a feature film adaptation of Kojima’s acclaimed 2019 video game Death Stranding.

While we already knew that Hideo Kojima was developing a film adaptation of Death Stranding, his 2019 hit video game, the details have been kept under wraps. The project will be produced by Kojima Productions, but now, acclaimed US studio A24 have also boarded the project.

A24 sneaked the news out via a new T-shirt listing, which proudly announces that the studio has “partnered with Kojima Productions on the live-action feature film adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed video game, Death Stranding.”

This is great news. A24 is one of the most prolific studios at the moment and they’ve branded themselves as a bit of a safe haven for filmmakers to execute their creative vision without too much interference from people who wear suits to work every day.
