Part of what many fans love about the Marvel Cinematic Universe is how Marvel Studios hints at the next big event or reveals surprise character introductions with each movie. It evokes one of the most iconic things about Marvel Comics, with big font stingers exhorting True Believers to stay tuned. Even if the onslaught of MCU media has worn deep tracks in the greater film/TV audience over the last decade, there's still a thrill to a well-executed stinger or credit cookie.
However, for every promise that the Avengers will return or a tease of Thanos' threatening rise to power, there's a chance that we might not see a cool hint pay off down the road. There are several things that have been teased in the MCU, especially in credits scenes that have yet to yield any significant results. While that can be disappointing, especially for fans of newly introduced characters or plot threads,...

‘The Franchise’ Stars on Mocking Superhero Movies and Showing “the Absurdity of Us All” in Hollywood
The Franchise, HBO’s newest series from Sam Mendes, Armando Iannucci and Jon Brown, takes a satirical look at the behind-the-scenes chaos of creating Hollywood’s big franchises, specifically when it comes to superhero movies.
“There’s so much truth in it you cannot believe it. The crazier it became, the more I felt, yeah, this stuff happens,” joked Daniel Brühl, who stars in the series as the superhero movie’s director, and in real life has played villain Helmut Zemo in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Though the actor explained his personal experience with the MCU was “such a well-oiled machine and there wasn’t that chaos and the absurdity,” Brühl remembered another film “that was a proper shitshow from the day I arrived.”
“I saw my miserable face every evening in the mirror thinking, ‘How am I going to survive this?...

Tom Holland's Peter Parker made his MCU debut in 2016's Captain America: Civil War and, the following year, took centre stage in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
It was a fitting title for the movie seeing as the web-slinger had finally come "home" and Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures kept the theme going with 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home (which was referencing the fact Spidey travelled overseas to battle Mysterio's illusions).
Finally, there was 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, a movie that left several familiar Variants stranded on Earth-616. Now, as we head into a new trilogy of Spider-Man movies, it appears the idea is to move on from the "Home" theme.
It makes sense given filmmaker Jon Watts' departure; Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is taking over and, if recent rumours are to be believed, the idea is for Spider-Man to embark on another Multiversal adventure.

2025 is set to be a significant year for the Dcu, which is built on the foundations of the former Dceu. Although Creature Commandos will be the first release, both James Gunn and Peter Safran have emphasized that the upcoming Superman movie marks the true beginning of the Dcu.
While details about the plot remain scarce, set leaks and official announcements reveal an impressive cast. Notably, Gunn has “borrowed” several actors from rival Marvel projects.
As a result, we’ve compiled a summary of all the ‘Superman’ actors who have previously appeared in Marvel projects.
1. Frank Grillo – Rick Flag Sr (Dcu) / Crossbones (MCU)
Frank Grillo is best known for his role as the villain Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame. The actor has openly admitted that he nearly got fired by Marvel multiple times for leaking information.

2025 will be a huge year for Dcu, a newly established cinematic universe on the remnants of the former Dceu. Despite ‘Creature Commandos’ releasing first, both Gunn and Safran stated in the past that the upcoming ‘Superman’ movie is the true start of the Dcu.
Not much is known about the movie plot-wise, but thanks to the set leaks and official announcements we know that the cast is pretty huge. What’s even better is that Gunn “borrowed” quite a few actors from the rival Marvel projects.
Due to this, we decided to summarize all ‘Superman’ actors that at one point appeared in Marvel projects.

Frank Grillo portrayed a notable villain Crossbones in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ The actor famously stated that he almost got fired by Marvel a lot of times due to constantly leaking information.

It's bizarre to even consider, but at one point, Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei auditioned to play Penny on "The Big Bang Theory" — and while it's hard to imagine her in Kaley Cuoco's role, it's also funny to imagine an alternate universe with Tomei as the show's bubbly female lead.
Fans of "The Big Bang Theory" know there was a decent amount of strife over who would play Penny — one actress, Katie Walsh, was replaced after a badly-shot pilot didn't impress CBS — but it's definitely shocking to hear that Tomei was in the mix. In 2022, Tomei opened up about "The Big Bang Theory" and said that she did like the project, and obviously had no idea that it would be such a huge pop culture phenomenon.
"I thought it was a great script, and that's why we went so far as to check it out," Tomei told Business Insider in an...

Black Panther was the Marvel movie we had all been waiting for. It brought us the story of T’Challa, with the late, great Chadwick Boseman in the lead. Opposite him was Michael B. Jordan as the villain Killmonger.
While Black Panther started off with a story set thousands of years ago to allow us to understand Wakanada and then jumped to 1992 to kick start the backstory for Killmonger, the main focus was on after T’Chaka’s death. T’Challa stepped up to become King of Wakanda, but not everyone was happy.
Why Killmonger wanted to rule Wakanda
Killmonger was known as Erik Stevens at first. His backstory became clear when T’Challa noticed that he wore N’Jobu’s necklace. It turned out that Erik was the American son of N’Jobu. N’Jobu had wanted to share Wakanda’s technology with the world to help those of...

Avengers: Secret Wars Rumored To Feature The Return Of An Iconic X-men Character - Possible Spoilers
Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are obviously shaping up to me massive MCU events, with the latter, in particular, expected to be the most ambitious superhero movie of all time in terms of scale and scope.
There are going to be a lot of characters, but there have been conflicting reports when it comes to the involvement of 20th Century Fox's Marvel heroes. Hugh Jackman is almost certainly going to return as Wolverine, but what about his fellow X-Men?
While Marvel Studios is (or soon will be) in the process of casting new actors to play the mutant freedom fighters in the upcoming X-Men reboot, it seems there might be a few more holdovers - at least until the events of Secret Wars.
According to Mttsh, Sir Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as the original big-screen Professor Charles Xavier.

Tom Holland has become a household name since he was cast in the role of Spider-Man. From fighting villains in costumes to playing antagonists himself, he has come a long way from his first appearance in the MCU in Captain America: Civil War. However, this journey was not an easy one for young Holland.

Mark Millar's Marvel Comics work helped shape the MCU as we know it. The Ultimates was a huge source of inspiration for The Avengers, right down to Captain America's costume, the team lineup, and even Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury.
Then there's Civil War, the best-selling comic book event which reshaped the Marvel Universe and inspired Captain America: Civil War (let's not forget Old Man Logan's impact on Hugh Jackman's Wolverine either).
In recent years, Millar has focused solely on his Millerworld creator-owned comics and a lucrative deal with Netflix. In 2022, he teased plans for a DC Comics return to tell a new Superman story and recently confirmed he'd spoken to the publisher about a six-part series.
Now, though, it appears the prolific writer is eyeing a long-awaited Marvel Comics return. "I actually met C.B. Cebulski [Marvel Editor-In-Chief] for lunch last week in London," he told wordballoon (via...

Marvel had a rough year in 2023. Many of its properties underperformed, and they lost their big villain due to Jonathan Majors being fired. Looking forward to their upcoming slate, comic fans have been excited about some of the studio’s projects over the next few years. Will these films help Marvel regain control? The upcoming Thunderbolts film has been one that fanboys have been hoping to see since the MCU started. With some recent news about the property coming up, it seems like the right time to break down what we know about the production.
Who Are The Thunderbolts?
The team first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1997 in an issue of The Incredible Hulk. They seemed to be a new group of superheroes that had arrived on the scene and gained acclaim very quickly. The reader was informed that the group was actually a group of supervillains led by Baron Zemo.

The Marvel Universe saw a second Civil War event between Captain Marvel and Iron Man, but it was nowhere near as good as the first iteration of the events. However, given that a conspiracy thriller like Captain America: The Winter Soldier set up the first conflict between The Avengers, a second one might be brewing in the superhero community come Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.

However, there is a potent possibility that due to the lack of an Iron Man in the MCU, along with the fall of Captain Marvel’s popularity, there might be a different setup for a second conflict in the superhero community. This could be the second Civil War that actually makes sense, one that could get mutants and the Fantastic Four involved in the conflict as well.

In the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, much was said about Marvel Studios signing actors to six or nine-picture deals. Many of those contracts concluded with Avengers: Endgame but, in Samuel L. Jackson's case, it didn't take quite as long.
In a career retrospective with GQ, the iconic actor reflected on joining the MCU with 2008's Iron Man and the fact Nick Fury quickly started showing up, well, pretty much everywhere.
"I knew I had a nine-picture deal," Jackson started. "[Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige] said that: 'We’re going to offer you a nine-picture deal.' How long do you have to stay alive to make nine movies? It’s not the quickest process in the world."
"I didn’t know they were going to make nine movies in like two and a half years," he admitted. "That’s kind of crazy! Oh shit, I’m using up my contracts.

Samuel L. Jackson addressed his work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 75-year-old actor has been playing Nick Fury in the MCU since Iron Man in 2008. He’s gone on to appear in a dozen other projects in the franchise, including blockbuster movies and Disney+ series.
During a recent interview, he looked back on early conversations to join the popular superhero universe. He expressed initial hesitance over the length of his contract, adding that he was surprised by how quickly things progressed.
He also shared one thing that he has not yet gotten to do in the franchise that he really wanted to do.

The first trailer of Thunderbolts* has managed to win back a lot of fans, almost bringing back the atmosphere that was present at the beginning of Phase 3 of the MCU. Of the many easter eggs that came with the teaser, fans are obsessed with one that has seemingly nothing to do with the narrative of the film, or so fans thought.

Scarlett Johansson, who played Natasha Romanoff for 10 years in the MCU, has been credited as an executive producer on the film, with there being no signs of her in the narrative. This could be because the actress might have some terms in her contract that cause her to be part of products that feature characters introduced in Black Widow, but there is a possibility that Johansson might just be part of the film’s cast as well.

Anthony and Joe Russo, the Russo Brothers, have directed some of the biggest movies of all time, with their film Avengers: Endgame coming in second place just behind James Cameron’s Avatar… but that hasn’t made it any easier to get their sci-fi adventure film The Electric State out into the world. The project was first announced back in 2017 and experienced multiple ups, downs, and behind-the-scenes shake-ups on its way to production, with filming beginning in 2022 and wrapping in early 2023. Reshoots followed in 2024. Now it looks like The Electric State might finally be ready to make its way out into the world, so we figure it was time to put together a list of Everything We Know About The Electric State:

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Scarlet Witch, Elizabeth Olsen has earned herself a legion of fans (she's also earned the title of "mother" among her biggest devotees...don't ask!).
This version of the Wanda Maximoff debuted in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron thanks to a complicated rights loophole which saw Marvel Studios also allowed to use the mutant and her brother Pietro/Quicksilver due to their history with the team.
Despite losing her mutant status, in the years that have followed, the Scarlet Witch has become a key part of this shared world. That was evident from her role in movies like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.
Later, she took centre stage in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Controversially, the latter left the hero's fate very much up in the air and Wanda hasn't been seen since; on the plus side, rumours of a solo outing persist,...

Marvel Studios is the biggest titan in Hollywood. Their Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise is the untouchable champion of the box office, having grossed a collective $30 billion in the years since it all began with the release of Iron Man in 2008. It has truly changed the face of cinema with its 34 MCU movies, with fans flocking to the movie theaters to see the next major Marvel superhero film every single time one of them is released.

The Amazing Spider-Man wasn't the runaway hit Sony Pictures hoped for, but it was successful enough to spawn a sequel and then a slate of projects which included third and fourth Spider-Man movies along with Sinister Six and a possible Venom spin-off.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 wasn't cheap to make and after it was deemed a critical and commercial disappointment, Sony decided - amid pressure from fans following leaked "Sony Hack" emails - to partner with Marvel Studios.
Andrew Garfield was out and Tom Holland was in, with the McU's new Peter Parker making his debut in Captain America: Civil War. Spider-Man: Homecoming followed, as did appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. However, during Spider-Man: Far From Home's production, Disney and Sony reached an impasse on money.
A new deal couldn't be reached and, not only did it mean Spidey would leave the MCU, but Kevin Feige's creative input was over.

New Thunderbolts* Stills Released As Scarlett Johansson's Unexpected Connection To Movie Is Revealed
Shortly after Scarlett Johansson patched things up with Disney - now-former CEO Bob Chapek attempted to renege on her deal to earn a cut of Black Widow's profits by releasing the movie on Disney+ - there was talk of the actor producing a future MCU project.
Her time as Natasha Romanoff came to a definitive end in Avengers: Endgame and, after returning for that solo movie set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, that really did appear to be it for Johansson.
There's been some online chatter about the MCU veteran possibly being involved with a Blonde Phantom series on Disney+ but a press release sent out by Disney confirms Johansson is executive producing Thunderbolts*.

Her time as Natasha Romanoff came to a definitive end in Avengers: Endgame and, after returning for that solo movie set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, that really did appear to be it for Johansson.

It's time; Agatha All Along has officially arrived on Disney Plus and it is set to continue bewitching our lives throughout the remainder of the spooky season. The Marvel Studios spooktacular will run over the course of seven weeks, with a special double-episode finale streaming just prior to Halloween, making the show the joint-longest Marvel Cinematic Universe series yet, sharing a nine-episode count with WandaVision, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, and What If...?.
Speaking of the MCU, Agatha All Along is indeed a part of the Marvel Studios franchise, as its 11th TV series produced for Disney Plus. But, as we've seen in the past, that doesn't mean you have to watch every single project in the franchise to understand it. In fact, as it has a standalone Special Presentation quality about it, few titles are entirely necessary to watch before it to grasp what is going on. There are, however,...

Comic book characters, even superheroes, generally have a tendency to cause a lot of damage during their fights. This is not, in the case of the superheroes, intentional, of course, but damage occurs and casualties also occur, whether they want it or not. On the other hand, sometimes, the casualties are intentional as superheroes have to kill their enemies in order to win.
Sometimes, though, superheroes have a “no-kill” rule, like Batman or Superman, but this is an exception, not a rule. Superheroes generally don’t shy away from killing their enemies, regardless of whether they are humans or some alien entities, monsters, etc.

Captain America's third adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had the nearly impossible task of continuing his titular character's stand-alone arc, introducing audiences to key players such as Spider-Man and Black Panther, and creating one of the most memorable superhero battles we've ever seen on the big screen. Fortunately, it delivered big time by doing all this and more.
The movie features a complex narrative that pits our favorite characters against each other in one heartbreaking rollercoaster of a ride. So before we watch Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble once again in Avengers: Doomsday, it's time to remember their fallout and break down the ending of Captain America: Civil War.
The Sokovia Accords disassembled the Avengers
Earth's Mightiest Heroes have always fought for the greater good. They protect the little guy and save as many lives under the most dire of circumstances. However, that doesn't mean there isn't collateral damage along the way.

It's wild to think about the fact that the Marvel Cinematic Universe existed for almost a whole decade before Spider-Man joined it. The webslinger was leading his own franchise(s) for Sony Pictures at the time, so it just wasn't possible. That is until the studio was a bit worried by the underperformance of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and decided to make the call to Marvel Studios.
History was made in 2016's Captain America: Civil War when Tom Holland debuted as a brand new Spider-Man, bringing the wall-crawler to the MCU for the first time ever. He didn't have too much screen-time in the guest appearance, but he did shine extremely brightly, making a huge impression with audiences and setting the stage for Peter Parker's major role in the franchise going forward.

Being a part of two of the biggest superhero franchises ever comes with its list of pros and cons. Actors associated with highly anticipated films are often directed to keep their mouths shut. Before the premiere during interviews and promotions, it is advised to give out limited information about their upcoming role or film’s storyline.
Tom Holland became a notorious example of accidental spoilers. The Spider-Man actor was plagued with loose lips syndrome, wherein he often divulged confidential information about a new movie. In a hilarious statement, fellow Marvel turned DC actor, Frank Grillo claimed he wanted to avoid similar circumstances. The actor was very stringent with his statements regarding his upcoming movie, citing precaution.

The Multiverse Saga has been successful in pulling characters from Marvel films of old, those that came before the MCU had cemented itself as the box office juggernaut that it is. Characters like Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, have all entered the MCU as a part of the current saga.
Doctor Doom as he appears in X-Men ’97
Kevin Feige set a precedent with the appearance of Sir Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While the character was played by the X-Men alum, his design was very much based on the appearance of Charles Xavier in X-Men: The Animated Series. This suggests that characters from other mediums can make the jump to live action in lieu of the Multiverse Saga, and there is a perfect version of Doctor Doom that should make the jump.

One of the most harrowing sequences in Spider-Man: No Way Home was the death of Aunt May. While the MCU’s Spider-Man had not received the traditional origin story of the death of Uncle Ben aiding his journey in becoming a hero, Tom Holland’s web-slinger finally gets his life-altering event that will propel his journey forward with Aunt May’s death.
While Marisa Tomei got to say the iconic ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ line, the scene itself was reportedly a bit different when conceived initially. The original concept art for the scene showed Tom Holland in a hospital with May and included a long, drawn-out sequence where they have an emotional exchange.

It's an interesting time to be a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The franchise's current Multiverse Saga means that you could very well see different versions of your favorite MCU characters, your favorite actors return in different roles, or your favorite characters from pre-mcu Marvel movies make their presence felt on the franchise. When they say anything can happen in the McU's Multiverse Saga, they may very well mean anything.
We've seen more than enough examples of this in recent years, with Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine in Deadpool and Wolverine, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's returns as their respective Spider-Men in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Patrick Stewart's return as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness all sending the internet into meltdown. It's truly remarkable what this franchise is capable of at all times, but especially when it comes to moments like that.

Actor Tom Holland began his professional career on the British stage, playing the title character in the 2008 production "Billy Elliot: The Musical." He moved to film in 2012, appearing in J.A. Bayona's intense flood drama "The Impossible." Holland burst into the public consciousness, however, in 2016 with his appearance as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, in "Captain America: Civil War," one of the films in the vast and commercially overwhelming Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since then, Holland has played Spider-Man in five additional films, sometimes as part of the Avengers, and sometimes as a solo hero. His most recent Spider-Man performance came in 2021 with the release of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," a multiverse movie wherein he interacted with the versions of Spider-Man previously played by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.

Simu Liu's Shang-Chi will likely appear in at least one of the upcoming Avengers movies, but a recent rumor claimed that the Master of Kung-Fu was originally going to play a major role in The Kang Dynasty prior to the project being revamped.

Most fans considered Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, to be the most anticipated, ultimate film of the year. The film is still airing in cinemas and has shattered multiple box office records, being among the most profitable releases of the year. Actress Elizabeth Olsen is willing to play Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again, but has conditions for returning. Olsen has portrayed the powerful Scarlet Witch in several Marvel films over the past decade.
In a recent interview, Olsen said she enjoys portraying the character when “there’s a way to use her well.” She believes past Marvel projects have effectively used her character. Olsen told FM104 she thinks “people didn’t know what to do with me for a second there.” However, she remains open to future roles if writers develop her character meaningfully.
Olsen made her MCU debut in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” She had a bigger part in 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and later appeared in “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avengers: Endgame.” Her character growth continued in the 2021 Disney+ series “WandaVision,” which explored Wanda’s grief and powers through classic television genres.
