- TriviaThe video store clerk played by Tommy Chong wears a jacket with Los Cochinos on the back. This was the third album by Cheech and Chong.
- GoofsThe film opens up to the song "Rinconcito En El Cielo" by Ramón Ayala Y Los Bravos Del Norte, considered one of the most influential Regional Mexican/Norteño music bands of all time. The opening scene shows Ramón Ayala (played by comedian Rick Gutierrez) performing in a nightclub in 1975-1976 where Gabriel Iglesias' parents reportedly met, with radio personality Eddie "Piolín" Sotelo hosting the event. While Ramon Ayala was already a major norteño artist by that time, "Rinconcito En El Cielo" didn't come out until 1984, and a more fitting host for that time would have been TV personality/Tejano artist Johnny Canales.
- Quotes
Doctor: [Esther is in labor] Alright, Esther, I'm gonna need you to push.
Esther P. Mendez: [Notices the doctor has a cigar in his mouth] I-Is that a cigar?
Doctor: I just have this for stress, it's not lit.
Carmen: How can you be smoking a cigar when you're supposed to be delivering a baby?
Nurse: This is the kind of stress he's talking about, ma'am.
Carmen: Have you been drinking?
Doctor: If you want a sober white doctor in this town, it's gonna cost you a fortune.
Nurse: Ain't that the truth.
Doctor: [Sees the baby starting to come out] Oh, man, this is gonna be a big baby. I just hope I can pull him out before he pulls me in.

The film has a prologue with a kid who is supposed to be Gabriel at about age 8. It's kind of cute--but only makes up a few minutes of the film. The rest is his stand-up routine and he talks about a variety of topics such as his weight, his step-son and his relationship with his estranged father. A lot of it is very serious and not funny, though there are plenty of laughs as well. However, I really think his other performances I've seen were funnier--mostly because he told more stories and used more funny voices in those. Here, he's talking much more about life, family relations and being raised without father-- all topics which he jokes about a bit but also with a tough edge of seriousness. It's worth seeing and he is an immensely talented guy but not his best work.
