The Mumbai-set thriller blending dark comedy with suspense elements follows two young men whose quest for excitement lands them in hot water.

Bombay Berlin Film Productions, known for “Loev”(featured at Tallinn Black Nights, SXSW, BFI Flare and Frameline) boards as creative producer.

Directing the project is Arunansh Bhatt, whose debut “Chamachh” played the festival circuit and racked up over a million views online. Bhatt previously worked on Netflix’s “Sacred Games” and “Ak vs. Ak.”

While his contemporaries are churning out one or at maximum two films in one year, Akshay Kumar is pretty much setting a record of sorts with as many as five releases to his name.

Tirelessly moving ahead and stepping into films as diverse as Housefull 3, Robot 2 and Rustom, Akshay gets into a conversational mode.

Unlike Holiday, Baby or even Gabbar Is Back which required you to perform a lot of action, Airlift isn’t about the kicks and punches from you. How was it to be a part of some true drama?

This has to be the most 'dhamaakedaar khabar' before close of year. Just when it seemed that Akshay is redefining himself with a compelling act in much awaited Airlift, his nod of approval for Robot 2 has turned out to be as big an announcement as one can expect. But finally it's the actors. All the big stars male and female are booked for months and years. I don't know how to make the films that I am supposed to with the cast that I want." This isn’t all as these are also the second highest numbers of the year after Bajrangi Bhaijaan, while surpassing Welcome Back (74.02 crore) and Akshay’s own Brothers (72 crore).

In terms of the trending, the film did take a hit on Monday but has been reasonably stable ever since. The film, considering its theme and genre, would find good patronage on the satellite circuit as well which would further ensure that the costs are covered with some profits as well.

Lara Dutta who plays a pivotal role got busy with a beauty pageant. Director Prabhu Dheva is down with an eye infection. That leaves the coast clear for the film's romantic lead Amy Jackson who has found a sudden stardom with Sib much in the same way that another foreigner Jacqueline Fernandez's career did a dramatic turn-around after Kick. Prabhu who is house-bound is very happy for his heroine. "Good that Amy has benefited. She worked really hard on the role, did all the stunts on her own. Akshay Sir helped her a lot with the action scenes. But it was her will to excel that made her do the stunts so effectively." Prabhu intends to work with Amy again.

As expected, Singh Is Bliing took a record opening at the Box Office on Friday. As was predicted in this column on Thursday, the film was set to register around 20 crore on the opening day and this is exactly what happened when 20.67 crore came in. Given the fact that it was a national holiday on Friday, collections were bound to come down on Saturday (14.5 crore), though they did see an escalation again on Sunday (19.27 crore), hence pretty much going by the script.

As things stand today, the weekend collections stand at 54.44 crore. With this, Akshay Kumar has set a new opening weekend record for a film of his, hence surpassing Brothers (52.08 crore). Even for Prabhudheva, this is a new record as his last film with Akshay Kumar, Rowdy Rathore, had brought home 48 crore on the opening weekend. The film now needs to be stable over the weekdays in order to cross the 100 crore mark.

All parties involved are insistent that Singh is Bliing [sic], a goofy comedy starring Akshay Kumar as a beturbanned tough-nut named Singh, has nothing whatsoever to do with 2008’s Singh is Kinng, a goofy comedy that starred Akshay Kumar as a beturbanned tough-nut named Singh. Yet the similarities of tone and title are such one wonders whether some behind-the-scenes legal finagling has obliged the new film’s creatives to adopt an alternative trajectory. There is, after all, a fair amount here with which you wouldn’t want to be associated: even by Kumar’s lowly standards, it’s pretty inane stuff.

Akshay Kumar has a reason to rejoice. His film Singh Is Bliing has been cleared by the censor board with a 'U/A' certificate... but with some crucial cuts! Those scenes that had earlier offended Sikh cultural organizations have now been duly censored.

Says a source close to the project, "The censor board was very clear on the issue of cultural policing. Only if the objectionable scenes were seen to disobey the censor guidelines would those scenes be censored. There were two such scenes which Sikh organizations objected to and which the censor board has decided to delete from the film. One of them has Akshay Kumar using his holy kadaa (iron bangle) like a weapon and the other scene shows Akshay Kumar's turban catching fire. These two scenes have been censored. The rest of the film had no objectionable scenes at all."

Superstar Akshay Kumar, who is gearing up for his much awaited all out entertainer Singh Is Bliing, recently visited the trending eatery Punjab Grill during promotions, and we hear he relived his fledgling days when he started out as a chef in Bangkok.

He went inside the bustling kitchens and spent time interacting with the north Indian chefs, and reportedly grew quite nostalgic as he relived his days before he started his acting career.

After Tung Tung Baje and Singh and Kaur, the third song from Singh Is Bling has been released. Mahi Aaja is also yet again a groovy number like the earlier songs from the movie however it is not much impressive. Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson’s chemistry is complimentary but the song lacks the required energy. They seem quite tired and uninterested all through the song.

The track has been sung by Manj Musik and Sasha and this is the remixed version in ‘Singh Is Bliing’. Directed by Prabhu Deva, Sib releases on 2nd October 2015.

The team of his next, Singh is Bliing, made sure he got his own custom-made bike during the shoot of a romantic song sequence with leading lady Amy Jackson in Romania.

A source from the team reveals, “During the shoot of the movie in Romania, a special bike was called for. It was a blazing red one. Akshay got very fascinated with the bike and after the shoot was done, he took it for a ride with co-star Amy. The beautiful machine was a limited edition one and was customised for the shoot. It was interesting to see Akshay excited like a little boy as he checked out the features and considered the possibility of buying a similar one for himself.

When Akshay Kumar had donned the turban to play a Sardarji in Singh Is Kinng in 2008 he had to appease organizations which objected to the length of his beard and the way his turban was tied. Now on the basis of just the trailer and songs, Sikh organizations have raised objections to Akshay's turbaned act in Prabhu Dheva's Singh Is Bliing. In a bid to pacify the premature protests Akshay Kumar called leaders and prominent members of various Sikh organizations from Punjab and Delhi to Mumbai for a private screening of Singh Is Bliing. Says a source, "Rather than face protests a week before release Akshay wisely decided to take Sikh organizations into confidence now itself. He flew down the members at his own cost and showed them the film.
