‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ is a 2024 action-adventure comedy film based on the incredibly popular Sega video game series. It’s the sequel to ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ (2020) and ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ (2022), directed by Jeff Fowler.

The cast includes returning stars like Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey, along with newcomers Krysten Ritter and Keanu Reeves. The Lonely Island‘s Jorma Taccone is in good company for his next directorial project as Ben Schwartz and Sam Rockwell board the upcoming Searchlight comedy DNA. News about Taccone joining DNA as the film’s director and producer comes after he recently launched production in Finland for The Trip, an upcoming thriller starring Jason Segel and Samara Weaving.

Plot details for DNA remain a mystery, though we know Schwartz sold the concept to Searchlight in 2020. Schwartz wrote the script, while Ali Bell, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Taccone produced through their Party Over Here studio. Appropriately enough, given that Anton and Annie are demolitionists, Antonblast is a wild deconstruction of other platformers, one that throws caution to the wind to maximum effect. Though each of the game’s 12 levels is stacked with secret passages and collectables, the jagged, psychotic art style (which happily brings edgy animation like Ren & Stimpy to mind) and reckless, momentum-building hammer swings make the whole endeavor feel like a gloriously uncontrolled demolition where anything can and likely will happen.

Within the game’s first five minutes, Dynamite Anton is targeted by none other than Satan, who uses a magic mirror to determine who’s “the reddest in all the land.” Satan steals Anton’s spirits (read: alcohol) to lure him out, and in return, Anton goes about smashing everything in sight. Things start off relatively straightforward, with Anton dodging wrecking balls and explosive crates, before Antonblast defaults to winningly riffing on the platformers of yore.

For many, watching the festivities is a cherished childhood memory, but for some kids watching in 1997, it was the stuff of nightmares.

High winds threatened the 71st Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from the get-go. While the wintry weather was uncomfortable for the marching bands and beauty queens, blustery breezes were devastating for the infantile inflatables. As it stands now, Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is tracking to open to $55 million over the Dec. 20-22 weekend, compared to $50 million for Mufasa: The Lion King, according to sources with access to data from leading research firm National Research Group.

It would be an upset if Sonic succeeded in beating Mufasa, considering that the summer 2019 remake The Lion King opened to a stunning $191.8 million domestically on its way to earning $1.7 billion globally. Like that film, Mufasa is a live-action movie relying heavily on photorealistic imagery.

As if the great Moana 2 box office news wasn’t enough Wednesday morning, Disney’s Barry Jenkins- directed Lion King prequel Mufasa and Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has hit three-week tracking.

Currently, the Hedgehog is looking to outrun the Lion, $55 million+ to $50 million, but keep in mind Disney hasn’t screamed out its Mufasa campaign yet. That happens on December 2, even though trailers will be in front of a ton of family eyeballs this week on Moana 2. Mufasa also has had three trailers out, and a teaser for tickets on sale, versus Sonic‘s two.

Right now, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is besting Mufasa in first choice, 11 to 7 for general audiences. Sonic 3 had a big second-trailer drop on Monday that trended all day. Mufasa is ahead of Sonic 3, 50 to 47, in interest.

Idris Elba has an interesting filmography. He tends to go back and forth between interesting, challenging roles and blockbusters. He’s the type of actor who will star in George Miller’s “Three Thousand Years of Longing” and then voice Knuckles in a ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ film. It’s almost a “one for them, one for me” mentality. So, it actually makes sense that he’s going to star in “Masters Of The Universe.”

The latest trailer for the upcoming film Sonic the Hedgehog 3 features some high-intensity scenes. From cataclysmic events to the streets of Tokyo, this film seems to have got all the fun in it, except Keanu Reeves.

Don’t get us wrong. Keanu Reeves’ character of Shadow does seem like a lot of fun. However, throughout the funny and non-serious storyline of the Sonic franchise, Reeves’ character is dark and we are not just the ones who are saying it.

Tickets for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 have just gone on sale and an explosive new trailer has been released by Paramount Pictures. The focus is very much on Shadow's mission of revenge, along with the dynamic between Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.

It goes without saying at this point that Jim Carrey steals the show, particularly as he's taking on dual roles in this threequel as both Dr. Robotnik and his grandfather, Shadow's creator. There are also the expected pop culture references, with poor Tails compared to Detective Pikachu.

Back to Reeves, though, and he's so far proving himself a pitch-perfect choice to bring Shadow to life in this epic third chapter of the hit franchise. Similar to the Knuckles TV series, we'd imagine Paramount is heading into this movie with the intention of launching a big or small screen spin-off revolving around the fan-favourite anti-hero.

And he upgraded his look in a recent video courtesy of one of his new reality TV castmates.

An entertaining new video spotlighted Wes and Safaree giving each other villainous makeovers based on their personalities.

Following several leaks (both of the camera phone and HD variety), Universal Pictures has finally released the official teaser trailer and poster (via Toonado.com) for this gorgeous new take on the 2010 animated classic.

Neither shows off too much but both sneak peeks make it clear that Toothless will look almost exactly like he did in the previous How to Train Your Dragon movies.
