The cover for the DVD box of "Fifty Shades Freed" is the exact opposite of Fifty Shades of Grey (2015). For the first movie's box cover, Anastasia is the one with her arms up, while Christian is the one about to kiss her, but for this movie's box cover, Christian is the one with his arms up, while Anastasia is about to kiss him.
Scenes were being filmed in Nice, France at the same time of the Nice terror attacks in July 2016.
Easter egg: When Christian shows up at Ana's work to berate her for not using Grey as her last name on her email, just as he gets out of the elevator and is on his way to the receptionist, the author of the source material, E.L. James, walks by.
Kim Basinger was set to return as series antagonist Elena Lincoln, even briefly appearing in the trailers, but her scenes were ultimately removed from the final cut. Her scenes were restored in the Unrated Cut of the film. To date (December 2024), this remains Basingers last on-screen appearance in a live action film.
