The skits are quite clever and I suspect the reason some people are rating it low is that they don't understand the topic in the skit. Some of the humor is subtle or carries a subtext that some people are missing I think.
Most of them are quite good, some are hilarious and it's worth putting in time on them to "get it. "

Okay...writing my first IMDb review ever so that people have something else to read besides one single batch of absurdity written by a person who has been ludicrously swept up in their own privilege. I am a (male) American currently living in Canada, and chanced across this show one night. It's fresh, it's hilarious, and contains exactly none of the "3rd-Reich-Feminism" that a previous viewer claims it does, proving for the zillionth time that people make up whatever ignorant garbage they want and post shamelessly.
I could go on about how hit-or-hit the sketches are and how ludicrously talented and smart the writers, comedians and actors are (it's all true), but you should just check out the show. I will say that I love how widely the sketches vary in length. They take time building up to a quality punchline when it's necessary, but when it's not, they keep things short. There is absolutely no standard sketch length here, and I love that.
This show may struggle because (no matter how many times you say, "It's 2016") men are still frightened of funny women. Also, less intelligent people are prone to entirely misconstruing jokes written and performed by more intelligent people.
...Anyway, check out this awesome show, especially if you're an American, because great Canadian content like this too often gets trampled by American media. Have a lovely day :)
Oh, and ps: WE'RE AT THE COTTAGE!!!

This show is hilarious and relatable. Based on real experiences and then blown out of proportion in a great way. The women are exceptionally talented. Don't listen to the bad reviews.

I'm a big fan of Portlandia, so when my friend described what the Baroness Von Sketch Show was like, I decided to give it a chance. My first episode was S2:E1 and I nearly peed myself at the first sketch. Perhaps I share the same sense of humour as these women, but I find them incredibly funny and likeable and find their writing to be very relevant! They love themselves, love women, and are not afraid to look ridiculous - so try to relax and appreciate what they are doing with this show.

If you're looking for some bubble-gum pop-comedy that runs a Laugh-Reel in order for you to know when to laugh, then this show is not for you.
But if you're in the mood for GREAT CREATIVE SHOW that has a numerous hit-after-hit of one liner sketches that are completely hilarious.
Also American, maybe it's a cultural thing, but I think it's absolutely HILARIOUS and you should give at least one show a chance.
You won't regret It

Finally a show you can just watch for fun. No plot just finally a sketch comedy you can watch for laughs alone. I have no idea how they come up with all these scenes.
Zany, off-beat, hilarious. Shocked the IMDb reviews and ratings are so mixed! I don't know why this show wouldn't be universally loved. I find it hilarious and fun. I guess anything with a feminist POV is going to get a lot of backlash these days. Women or no, the comedy is great!! Love this show! Keep it coming CBC.

Finally we have a show that we can just watch for fun and don't have to follow any plot or drama. These ladies are hilarious and brilliant in how they can become different characters in scene after scene. You never know what to expect from each one but you can guarantee that you're gonna laugh.
First of all it is too bad all the reviews here are so off the rails. Baroness Von Sketch is not the worst show ever like some of these reviews say but it is also not a great sketch show like the other rave reviews say. I suspect those are too related to the cast and crew and their families and the really negative reviews are haters or people who are also too close to the show (but in a negative way)... things are not always the worst ever if you don't like it or the best ever if you did like it or made it (or know who did).
That being said this show is pretty average. There are some good jokes and good character acting but the show suffers from some sketches being too long, some jokes that have been done before and the occasional bout of overacting. So I give it an average rating or just one below average.
It is a shame but to be honest this show just doesn't really bring it when it comes to laughs, it's more basic jokes and long sketches.

I wonder how many of the negative reviewers have ever watched Monty Python's Flying Circus, the original TV show? 80% of the sketches were "meh" or worse, but it was the monster hits that everyone remembers and defines the show. Make no mistake, Baroness has a lot of those take-it-or-leave-it sketches, but it too has sketches so incredibly funny that I've had to walk out of the room to catch my breath and grab a kleenex or two (the gym locker sketch comes immediately to mind for me).
I'm a guy, so I don't "get" all the sketches, such as the "garment of freedom" - my wife had to explain that pockets just aren't a part of women's fashion - but more often than not I'm laughing anyhow as the delivery by the whole cast is excellent.

I don't have much use for TV. I seen this on Netflix on a chance and I stayed for the whole ride.
It's 4 girls in their 40s from Toronto and most of the gags are silly takes on the vapid lifestyle that passes for culture there. I can see how it might upset some people who live the dream they constantly make fun of.
Most skits are short and they are not always funny, but some of them are outright hilarious. Lots of visual gags - special the skinny one.
It's smarter and braver than most of the 30 minute trash on the tube in the way that it takes on the post-modern flakes that currently rule the world. I was sad when I came to the last episode.

Binged this this weekend and the many moments it's made my heart soar with laughter is so valuable. Is the humor for everyone? Maybe not, but for me, it's perfect in all the right places. It's smart, it's witty and it's a joy. It's so relatable, and female positive. Give this a try, you may love it too!
Excellent show. Had me laughing out loud so many times.
I don't know what's up with the two reviewers who have to mention their dislike of feminism in their review? It's just a really clever, witty, funny show by some talented, funny women. What does feminism have to do with it? Get over yourselves and your insecurities, boys.
For the rest of you, I do recommend watching. They set up the scenes and you wait for the other shoe to drop. When it does, you're laughing. Scary how relatable some of it is... I think the CBC has a winner with this show. Hope they keep it around. Who couldn't use a few laughs at the end of another in(s)ane day?

This show is junk. None of this show is funny or has made me laugh even one time.
The show is made by a sketch troop of four women and one of them is great (Meredith), one is good, one is just OK and one is really just awful.
The sketches are not funny and just plain stupid and you can see exactly where the jokes are going to be coming from at every single turn.
It is just your typical bad CBC comedy show and I don't know why they keep making awful comedies like this. At least this is a step up from Little Mosque on the Prairie which was total garbage and had even worse acting.
It is worth watching for the two good actresses but the one girl is just an annoying mosquito and all of the jokes are so bad I just roll my eyes.
Another miss for the CBC and I don't understand why they are pretending this is a huge hit, it is not and I only know a few people who have seen it and none of them like it. I'm betting it will be cancelled quick.

It's sad to read all of the troll reviews from deplorables. Like any sketch show, it has its hits and misses, but it's really funny and fresh. Obviously the relative lack of moderation on IMDb has attracted the kinds of people who think mentioning the word "lesbian" is PC woke madness.

This is a great sketch comedy show!
Grounded, relatable and real, the comedy comes from the everyday life occurrences and observations of four women in their forties. The sketches never overstay there welcome, are very well written, performed and most importantly, REALLY FUNNY.
At times it's playful and absurd - not surprised they get glowing comparisons to Kids in the Hall - but most of the time it simply says: "life is like this" come along for the ride and witness all its hilarious imperfections.
Bravo to the CBC for finally bringing us some comedy that's not afraid to be silly, smart and edgy.

This show is the best sketch comedy on tv. Really funny. I cannot get enough of it. Ignore the bad reviews.

I am a 30 year old male and I really like this show. The skits are original and well written, and the acting is pretty good too. I think this is one of the best things currently on CBC.

If you love random, funny, and sometimes cringe-worthy humor about every-day life (especially as a woman), give this show a shot. I also enjoy how the skits differ in length: some being 10 seconds while others being a few minutes. Glad I decided to give this show a watch!
