Timothée Chalamet returns to Saturday Night Live this week to host for the second time. He brings along a new Oscar nomination for A Complete Unknown as well as an impressive net worth.
Chalamet, 29, first hosted in December 2020. It came between the release of Little Women and Dune, two of the biggest projects on the actor's resume.
His second turn in 2025, set for January 25, arrives when Chalamet is only a bigger star in Hollywood. And with that rising trajectory comes an equally growing net worth.
Timothée Chalamet's net worth stands at an estimated $25 million in 2025 (per CelebrityNetWorth). That puts him in the ballpark of other SNL season 50 hosts like Bill Burr and Martin Short, and trailing stars such as Ariana Grande, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.
Inside Timothée Chalamet's net worth
Timothée Chalamet may only be 29 years old, but he's been acting since he was child thanks to short film and commercial gigs.

All five Academy Award nominees for Best Director on Thursday — Brady Corbet for The Brutalist, Sean Baker for Anora, Jacques Audiard for Emilia Pérez, James Mangold for A Complete Unknown, and Coralie Fargeat for The Substance — are first-timers in the category.
The last time the Best Directors list was all first-timers was 1998, when James Cameron (Titanic), Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty), Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting), Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential), Atom Egoyan (The Sweet Hereafter), Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line), and Peter Weir (The Truman Show) were honored. That was the year that Cameron went on to personally win three Oscars, for Best Picture and Best Editing in addition to directing as part of Titanic’s massive 11-victory haul.

Greta Gerwig is primarily known for her blockbuster films, Lady Bird, Little Women and Barbie. Following Barbie being 2023’s highest-grossing film, she has once again made headlines. This time it’s not for her creative genius but for her bold move against Netflix.
So what is this move that even Avengers: Endgame’s directors, Joe and Anthony Russo couldn’t pull off for their Netflix movie, The Gray Man? Let’s dive deeper and figure out how Greta Gerwig took a stand against the streaming giant and stuck to her guns.

Netflix and Imax have struck a deal with Imax to release Greta Gerwig’s Narnia exclusively worldwide for two weeks in 2026 prior to debuting on the platform.
The film, based on C.S. Lewis’s fantasy story The Chronicles Of Narnia, is currently scheduled to open on Thanksgiving Day 2026 (November 26 of that year) and drop on Netflix over the Christmas holiday.
The partnership underscores the influence not only of Imax, which has increasingly become a go-to distribution element for event releases, but that of Gerwig.

Netflix is currently streaming one of A24's most popular horror movies, so now is as good a time as any to look back on the incredible box office accomplishment the film reached before the release of 2022's Everything Everywhere All at Once. These days, A24 is a beloved production company that has specialized in the horrific, the strange, and the awesomely beautiful. From movies like Lady Bird to the X franchise, A24 puts out movies that may not be for everyone, but have a definable and respectable style. Yet, A24 wasn't always the big name it is today.
A24 first originated in 2013, with a comedy film called A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swann III. The movie was a massive flop, earning only negative reviews from critics who accused the film of having no substance whatsoever. Fortunately though, A24 quickly revived its reputation just a few months later with its film,...

The opening shot of a movie says a lot about the film and sets the audience's expectations for the remainder of the story. Through the first image shown onscreen, the filmmakers can communicate the stakes, setting, and character dynamics that will fuel the characters' actions and the narrative's drama. While it's important for these shots to be beautifully crafted and incredible to look at, they should be more than aesthetically pleasing. Every frame of the movie must serve both a visual and narrative purpose to capture the viewer's attention.
There are many movies from the 2010s that will still be relevant in 50 years, and it's usually easy to tell from the early moments of a film if it's going to stand the test of time. While there are plenty of movies with gorgeous opening shots that turn out to be boring or uninspired and vice versa, these movies manage to be beautiful and iconic.

Netflix has partnered with Imax for a global release of Greta Gerwig’s Narnia two weeks ahead of the film’s streaming debut.
Narnia, based on the Chronicles of Narnia book series by C.S. Lewis, is currently set for an Imax release on Thanksgiving Day 2026, before a debut on Netflix during the Christmas period that year. The landmark deal is a win for Imax, which partners with Netflix as it seeks another limited, promotional theatrical run for one of its movie titles.
With Narnia, the two week exclusive window for Imax was crucial to establishing a long enough run to satisfy theater circuits that operate Imax auditoriums. As part of the agreement, Netflix has a four-week window for the film before the Netflix debut, but the film technologies company for now is committed to playing Narnia exclusively for two weeks starting on Thanksgiving 2026.

It will mark the largest theatrical release yet for the streaming platform, which rarely screens films in theaters. In 2022, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery...

Greta Gerwig has leveraged her “Barbie” star power to convince Netflix to give her the big, broad theatrical release she wanted for “Narnia,” her adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ fantasy series.
After months of negotiations, Imax announced that “Narnia” will be released exclusively on its screens worldwide for two weeks in advance of the film’s debut on Netflix. “Narnia” is currently slated to open in Imax on Thanksgiving Day 2026. It will premiere on Netflix at Christmas of the same year.
The Imax launch is a rarity for the streamer, which does grant limited, Oscar-qualifying theatrical releases for its awards hopefuls like “Emilia Perez” and “Maria,” but mostly prefers to have its movies, particularly the more broadly commercial ones, debut on its platform. There have been exceptions. In 2022, for example, Netflix allowed: “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” to have an exclusive one-week run in more than 600 venues, its widest-ever theatrical release.

It’s rare for a studio to become a brand, but A24 has managed it. Since its humble beginnings as a New York-based distribution company founded by Daniel Katz, David Fenkel, and John Hodges in August 2012, A24 has become synonymous with quality for film lovers, the place that releases the must-see indies everyone is talking about.
A24’s first film was the little-seen and little-loved “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III” from Roman Coppola, which hit theaters in February 2013 to muted fanfare. But the movie that really put the company on the map was “Spring Breakers,” Harmony Korine’s wild crime comedy that released in March that same year and established many of the conventions associated with the brand: Artful neon cinematography, shocking content and stylized violence, and cool-kid cleverness suffused in every frame. A Complete Unknown has passed a major milestone, breaking a box office record for star Timothée Chalamet. Chalamet plays folk icon Bob Dylan in the music biopic, which was directed by Walk the Line's James Mangold and also stars Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as the lightly fictionaized Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, and Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie. The theatrical release of A Complete Unknown kicked off on Christmas Day in 2024, becoming the second highest-grossing debut movie that weekend behind Nosferatu.
Per Deadline, as of Sunday morning, A Complete Unknown is projected to add a 3-day total of $5 million by the end of its third weekend in domestic theaters. In addition to seeing the movie land at No. 7 on the domestic chart for the weekend, this will bring its cumulative gross to $50.8 million. This marks the first time that a...

In the 97 years that the Academy Awards have been going, certain genres have always remained the underdogs, regardless of how general audiences may feel about them at any given time in history. When it comes to science-fiction, for example, only two entrants in the genre have actually walked away with the Best Picture Oscar, and both are more recent than you might expect. In point of fact, there hadn't been a single Best Picture-winning sci-fi film at all until Guillermo del Toro's sci-fi horror romance "The Shape of Water" came up for air in 2017. Nevertheless, del Toro's story of a woman (Sally Hawkins) falling for a merman (Doug Jones) managed to check all the required boxes at the time, winning Best Picture over the likes of "Call Me By Your Name," "Get Out," "Dunkirk," "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," "Darkest Hour," "The Post," "Lady Bird," and "Phantom Thread."

Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet were all set to appear in Barbie? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Honestly, I’m still trying to wrap my head around what could have been. Imagine it: Greta Gerwig’s magical Barbie Land, complete with those two breaking the fourth wall in their usual quirky, unmatchable way. Could it really get any better than that?
As a ride-or-die Greta Gerwig fan (and we know you are too), I had high hopes for a surprise cameo or two. The Barbie cast was already stacked—Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Issa Rae, and Simu Liu, to name a few—but my mind couldn’t help but wander to the idea of Saoirse and Timothée popping up in their usual Greta Gerwig movie magic style. If you’re a fan of their past team-ups (Lady Bird and Little Women), you know their on-screen chemistry is pure gold. Saoirse as Jo March?...

Barbie is officially on Netflix, and the movie is a great reminder to watch couple Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach's first project together. Released in theaters in 2023, over a year later, Barbie has landed on Netflix's Top 10 Chart in the U.S. The film is a cultural phenomenon, reigniting nostalgic childhoods and beloved memories everywhere while tackling the complicated cultural perception of the iconic doll. Barbie has an epic cast of characters: led by Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and America Ferrera, the film became so successful that Mattel now has 45 movies in development based on their toys.
Gerwig and Baumbach co-wrote the Barbie script, while Gerwig directed it. However, this movie is not the first time Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach have made a movie together. In fact, Gerwig and Baumbach's first film collaboration was the independent comedy-drama movie, Frances Ha. Frances Ha might seem entirely different from Barbie at first glance.

Timothée Chalamet sets a new personal Rotten Tomatoes record with his Bob Dylan movie A Complete Unknown. Chalamet does his own singing as the legendary singer-songwriter, in a James Mangold-directed film about Dylan’s early days on the East Village folk scene, up to the day he changed everything by going electric at the Newport Folk Festival. Chalamet is generating Oscar buzz for his Dylan biopic, which hits theaters on December 25.
Audiences who’ve already caught Chalamet’s acclaimed A Complete Unknown performance are also buzzing about the star by taking to Rotten Tomatoes, elevating the biopic to a 95% Popcornmeter rating (formerly known as audience score) on the review aggregator. This score ties it with the star's previous solo Popcornmeter champion, Dune: Part Two. The film has crossed the 250+ verified reviews threshold stipulated by the site for a rating to be displayed.

The demand for one of Greta Gerwig's most famous collaborators to appear in her iteration of The Chronicles of Narnia is understandable, but the debate about whom this actress should play may be overly complicated. Following her smash hit Barbie, the Oscar-nominated director signed on to write and direct the first two movies of Netflix's Chronicles of Narnia reboot. Much speculation has been dedicated to how Gerwig will put her own spin on Narnia, including which of her previous collaborators may star in the first movie, which Jason Isaacs teased may be The Magician's Nephew.
Timothée Chalamet is seemingly the perfect Mr. Tumnus; harder to place is four-time Oscar-nominated Saoirse Ronan, the star of Gerwig's Lady Bird and Little Women. Ronan is too old to play Susan Pevensie, although she would have been perfect for this Narnian heroine as a teenager. However, when several of Saoirse Ronan's best movies are directed by Gerwig,...

Timothee Chalamet has quickly emerged as one of the more unique Hollywood leading men in recent years. With his lanky frame, brooding vigor and deeply felt sensitivity, the young man has become one of the most notable stars of his generation. His career began in TV movies and series, with recurring roles on such shows as “Homeland” and “Royal Pains.” He made his film debut in the Jason Reitman film “Men, Women & Children,” in a relatively minor part. Those smaller roles continued through 2016 in films like “Interstellar” and “The Adderall Diaries,” playing younger versions of principal characters.
While Chalamet had a handful of substantial roles in indie movies, like 2016’s “Miss Julie,” everything changed the following year with the release of “Call Me by Your Name.” The actor’s sensitive portrayal of a 17-year-old finding his first great love garnered universal praise and landed him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

Frequent Greta Gerwig collaborator Saoirse Ronan should certainly be a part of the Chronicles of Narnia reboot in some capacity, and a particular casting choice for her could simultaneously solve one of the series' biggest story problems. The beloved Barbie director is delving further into the fantasy genre with Netflix's Chronicles of Narnia reboot and is expected to write and direct at least two movies in this new series. Jason Isaacs' recent tease about The Magician's Nephew suggests that Gerwig may not be starting out with the Pevensie family, but she will likely get to them sooner or later.
However, Gerwig's Narnia movies face many challenges, including and especially elements vital to the story of the sibling kings and queens of Narnia. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are skillfully written as foils to each other while embarking on a magical journey of discovering Narnia, becoming its ideal rulers,...

Ladybird (2017) and Little Women (2019) co-stars Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan reunited at the BFI Southbank in London on December 18 for a conversation about their careers, collaborations with each other and new films.
When discussing his portrayal of Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s upcoming musical biopic A Complete Unknown, Oscar nominee Chalamet revealed that he was nervous to play Song To Woody for the first time and that there was a “whole war on the movie” about whether he should use prerecords or sing the music live.
“I was in the camp that wanted to do it live because it’s folk music and Bob Dylan was certainly matching his voice. So, I didn’t want to be matching me, mimicking Bob Dylan in a studio in L.A. 6 months before we shot,” said Chalamet. “When that song went well [Song to Woody], I felt like I had a green light to work...

Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan may both have two films each vying for awards contention this year in Chalamet’s “A Complete Unknown” and “Dune: Part Two” and Ronan’s “The Outrun” and “Blitz,” but the pair took the time to reunite in London to discuss two films they appeared in together at the earlier stages of their careers.
In a special event hosted by the British Film Institute and Vanity Fair at the BFI Southbank on Wednesday evening, Chalamet and Ronan reflected on making 2017’s “Lady Bird” and 2019’s “Little Women,” both from a pre-“Barbie” writer/director Greta Gerwig.
While the two hadn’t me prior to “Lady Bird,” Chalamet recalled being told about Ronan by Emery Cohen, who had worked with her on the 2016 hit “Brooklyn.”

Lots of people hit a deer, but how many can say they’ve mowed down an honest-to-goodness unicorn?
Father and daughter duo Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega accidentally do exactly that while on the way to a mini-retreat in A24’s “Death of a Unicorn” trailer. It’s gonna be a weird — and deadly — weekend at big pharma billionaire Richard E. Grant’s mountain getaway.
Naturally, Grant’s character — who is Rudd’s boss — “seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.” Evidently, the horn shavings cure cancer, and as Will Poulter reminds us, cancer is “the biggest one.” So nice of you to change out of your swim shorts for that announcement, Will.
There’s just one problem with all of this, and we’re not talking about Rudd’s demolished SUV. Little unicorn has a mom (and/or a dad?), and she (and/or he) is pissed.

Greta Gerwig's first Chronicles of Narnia movie may now have a theatrical release window, but only if one key condition is met. Gerwig is the director behind Lady Bird, Little Women, and most notably, the 2023 hit Barbie. Since making Barbie, the director was offered the opportunity to work with Netflix on two movie adaptations of The Chronicles of Narnia. Unlike the Disney movie adaptations of the story, Gerwig's version has been reported to follow the chronological order of the books. Based on a recent interview, it is thought that Gerwig will be adapting The Magician's Nephew first.
As per Puck, Gerwig's Narnia movie may have a theatrical release window. According to the source, when Dan Lin took over for Scott Stuber as Netflix's Film Chief, the deal for Narnia included a theatrical release. Said release may now come in the form of an IMAX release towards the end of...

Kate Winslet has been a part of Hollywood for decades now. She has seen eras come and go, watching as the industry reinvented itself time and time again. During this duration, she has not been a spectator, actively taking part in several issues outside of her acting career. She has advocated for many things over the years, and that hasn’t changed in the slightest.

Through this unique preservation of individuality, they’ve constructed a rigid name for themselves with thought-provoking, visually stunning, and emotionally cathartic films that constantly push boundaries and challenge expectations. From tales of identity to psychological breakdowns, some movies cement A24 as a powerhouse studio of indie filmmaking.

After watching Little Women, Dune, Lady Bird, and more, we are well aware of the fact that Timothée Chalamet is a gift to the film industry. He has also dipped his toes into television and we simply can’t wait to see what comes next for him. However, the man is not a one-trick pony, that’s for sure. With his expert knowledge of pro-level college football, Timothée Chalamet surprised everyone recently with his commentary on ESPN’s College GameDay.

The actor knew what he was talking about and seemed both comfortable and confident, making us wonder if being a sports analyst is his true calling. Regardless, there’s minimal to no chance that the man will quit Hollywood to pursue the sports industry full-time. Not like the producers will let him anyway – he’s far too precious at the box office.

Timothée Chalamet's much anticipated Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown debuts on Rotten Tomatoes. Directed by James Mangold, and co-starring Ed Norton, Elle Fanning, and Scoot McNairy, the movie will release Christmas Day in the United States and has already generated significant Oscar buzz. In the past 96 years of the Academy Awards, there have only been two years in which two Black women were nominated for Best Actress in the same year. That ignominious statistic could very well change for the better this year, as performers Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”) and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (“Hard Truths”) are both closing in on nominations.
Erivo’s star turn as Elphaba, a role which won the Best Musical Actress trophy at the 2004 Tony Awards for Idina Menzel, currently ranks fifth in our combined Oscar odds. It would mark her second nomination in the category, following her breakout film role as Harriet Tubman in “Harriet” (2019). The actress earned two nominations that year, also receiving recognition for the song “Stand Up,” which she wrote with Joshuah Brian Campbell. The Tony winner for “The Color Purple” currently has 80% of experts and 40% of Gold Derby editors predicting her for the nom.

Step aside, Daisy Edgar-Jones: Paul Mescal just might have a new career collaborator in Saoirse Ronan.
The “Outrun” and “Blitz” star said during a recent junket interview with reporter Landon Johnson that she plans on “having a whole career shared” with Mescal. However, she most likely won’t be making her action-film genre debut with Mescal’s newfound franchise come “Gladiator III.”
“I would do a film with Paul. Yeah, definitely,” Ronan said when asked if she would appear in the not-yet-greenlit third film. “[But] I don’t know if there’s a character for me in ‘Gladiator.’ It is tough.”
Instead, Ronan reiterated her desire to star in a musical, and pointed to the “Glicked” dual debuts of “Wicked” and “Gladiator II.”
“We got ‘Wicked’ coming out as well,” Ronan said, as both films premiered November 22 in theaters, “and I’d love to be a witch with the girls.

Since Lady Bird, all of Greta Gerwig’s movies have been adaptations — including her upcoming reboot of The Chronicles of Narnia — so after finishing her work on Narnia, she should go back to telling original stories. After Lady Bird put her on the map as one of the most exciting new voices in filmmaking, Gerwig got the chance to adapt one of her favorite novels for the screen: Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. When that proved to be an even bigger box office success, she was trusted with a blockbuster budget to direct Margot Robbie’s Barbie movie.
Barbie’s runaway box office success, becoming the highest-grossing movie of 2023, has secured Gerwig as one of the most sought-after directors in Hollywood. The prestigious production and distribution company A24 has a total of seven Best Picture nominations at the time of writing, ranked here from worst to best. A24 has solidified itself as the leader and standard of trending independent cinema and also one of the most reliable producers and distributors of original horror content. Some of the best A24 horror movies, including Ari Aster's Midsommar (2019) and Hereditary (2018), Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse (2019) and The Witch (2016), and Yorgos Lanthimos' The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), are also among the best films of the 21st century.

Since the first awards ceremony in 1929, the Academy Awards — colloquially known as the Oscars — have chosen the "best picture" in cinema every single year, with varying results. Still, a lot of the time, the Oscars at least gets it sort of right; to use a recent example, "The Shape of Water" is a good movie, but it was also competing against "Get Out" and "Lady Bird," so even a well-liked film like Guillermo del Toro's unexpected love story can spark a larger discussion about the Oscars and how they choose their winners. But I digress. Some of the historical best picture winners are (almost) universally beloved, with 99% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
With acclaimed films like "Moonlight" and "Schindler's List" not far behind on Rotten Tomatoes' ranking of every best picture winner in Oscars history (both movies have a 98% rating), the following four films are, apparently, pretty close to perfect.

We chose the Tim Allen/Sam Huntington flick "Jungle 2 Jungle," which includes a character played by a young Leelee Sobieski. As a 9-year-old, Sobieski was my first celebrity crush, and I accidentally mentioned that I had recently seen "Never Been Kissed" and that "she's so pretty" in the movie. One of the kids in my group was also the class bully, and he wasted no time pouncing on this slip-up. "Are you a d**e or something?" It wouldn't be the last time he'd call me that, nor would he be the only one to do it. After years of therapy — I'll fully admit that my years of hypersexual behavior with men in my teens...

Bob Dylan has no qualms about Timothée Chalamet’s portrayal of him in James Mangold’s upcoming A Complete Unknown.
“There’s a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!),” Dylan wrote on social media on Wednesday. “Timothee Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me.”
Mangold’s film is set in the summer of 1961, when a 19-year-old Dylan arrived in New York City from Minnesota with little else than his guitar. The movie is based on the 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric! Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night That Split the Sixties by Elijah Wald, which explores the controversy surrounding Dylan’s switch to electrically amplified instrumentation.
Dylan wrote on Wednesday that the book is “a fantastic retelling of events...

Fans picked Deadpool & Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds as well as Adam Sandler as some of the most overrated stars in Hollywood. In a vox pop by a popular page, common folk in the UK were asked about who they think are the most overrated stars in Hollywood, and Reynolds, Sandler, and Timothée Chalamet seemed to dominate the list.
While some members of the list may deserve it, others such as Chalamet have proved why they are at the top. Even actors like Adam Sandler and Dwayne Johnson, who were featured in the list, seem to be taking on roles that are not of their usual style. The jury is still out, however, on these stars.

Saoirse Ronan's new World War II movie with an 81% Rotten Tomatoes score becomes a streaming success. The Irish actress, primarily known for her performances in period dramas, broke out with her performance as a precious teenager in Atonement at the age of 13, earning her first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Ronan continued her rise with lead roles in The Lovely Bones, Hanna, and a supporting role in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel.
It wasn't until 2016 that Ronan earned her second Oscar nomination, this time for a leading role, for her performance as a homesick Irish immigrant during the 1950s in 2015's Brooklyn. In the following years, Ronan earned additional critical acclaim for her collaborations with writer-director Greta Gerwig, receiving two more Oscar nominations for Lady Bird and Little Women. With four total Oscar nods to her name, Ronan is one of the best young actresses working today and,...

Whimsical 2023 Movie With 82% On Rt Confirms The Perfect Mr. Tumnus For Greta Gerwig's Narnia Remake
Greta Gerwig thrilled C.S. Lewis fans after promising to helm Netflix's upcoming The Chronicles of Narnia remake, and one actor could make the movies even more exciting. Directing Barbie in 2023, Gerwig brought her name to a global audience and proved her ability to lead a high-budget production. Gerwig's directorial debut was in 2017's comedy-drama Lady Bird. Humor, drama, satire, and a contemporary, feminist brand of romance are Gerwig's specialties, promising a novel approach to the world of Narnia. Combined with the perfect casting, this could be a recipe for a successful Chronicles of Narnia remake.
Gerwig should definitely leverage her experience with the new adaptations of The Chronicles of Narnia books to ensure that they bring something new to the table. Gerwig's knowing and worldly romanticism could be key to the new movies setting themselves apart from the albeit brilliant old ones. The cast of the new movies has not yet been announced,...
