D'avin does not hear an announcement that the kids hear and he is told that is because "adults lose the top end of pitch". In 2005 'The Mosquito' was developed, which sends out a very loud high pitched tone around 17.4 kHz. The sound is inaudible to most adults but very unpleasant to young people. Shopkeepers use it to chase all those pesky teenagers away. Some folks think this is discriminatory.
